The Live-in Alpha Only Wants to Be a Quiet Salted Fish (GL) - Chapter 2
At noon, the sun hung high in the sky. Lin Mu woke up, drenched in sweat from her dream. She squinted, instinctively patting the air beside her, and then, as if realizing something, she got up.
Not being nearsighted was something she wasn’t quite used to yet.
After washing up, she opened her laptop and began typing line after line of text.
This was her third day since transmigrating. After two days of feeling utterly lost, she returned to her old profession: writing.
In her previous life, Lin Mu was a struggling author. Having grown up in an orphanage, she had worked many jobs, but ultimately chose a profession that no one approved of or understood: online novel writing.
The reason was simple: she loved writing stories. Perhaps turning cruel realities into beautiful narratives through her pen was why she loved writing.
The entertainment industry in this world lagged significantly behind that of Earth. Female-oriented stories were all Mary Sues, and male-oriented ones were only various martial arts tales. There was no transmigration, no fantasy, and even TV dramas were still stuck on old-fashioned romance shows like “The Arrogant Campus Hunk Falls in Love with Me.” The only thing that felt fresh to her was perhaps the gender of the characters in idol dramas.
Like the fantastical plot of a bully Male Alpha and a popular Female Alpha having a street dance battle on the sports field for a wild Male Omega.
Watching the delicate Male Omega, with red eyes, yell, “Stop fighting, both of you…”
Lin Mu really wanted to add: “That’s not going to kill anyone!”
Aside from the entertainment industry, which was full of plot holes, the world’s other historical processes were quite similar, but the social structure was much more complex.
Jobs were divided by gender, treatment by gender, and there were even six types of restrooms, which made it hard for Lin Mu’s worldview to fully adapt.
As her thoughts wandered, the long-silent phone suddenly rang. Lin Mu glanced at it, and her heart tightened.
This was the number the lawyer left before he departed. Lin Mu guessed it was undoubtedly the female lead’s phone, so with a grateful heart, she saved her contact as two big characters: Sugar Daddy!
When she answered, perhaps influenced by the plot, or perhaps the impact of those four words was too great, Lin Mu’s mind went blank, and she blurted out.
“Hello, Daddy!” Her voice full of energy.
A crow flew by, and the atmosphere became a little awkward.
On the other end, Su Mo paused for a long time, looking at her phone with a complex expression, almost thinking she had dialed the wrong number.
After confirming the number was correct, Su Mo spoke softly, “I wouldn’t dare to be your father. Miss Lin, do you know who I am?”
The cool female voice entered Lin Mu’s ears, making her, who was preparing for social death, shiver. Somehow, she calmed down.
That’s right, if I’m not embarrassed, then others will be.
“Of course,” Lin Mu nodded, her tone firm.
Su Mo raised an eyebrow. Uncle Luo didn’t seem to have explained her identity to the Alpha. Where did this person’s confidence come from?
Just as she was about to ask, she heard the other side quickly add a sentence.
“You’re my Sugar Daddy!”
From the excitement in that voice alone, one could imagine a husky with its head held high, not only not feeling it had done anything wrong but even carrying a hint of smugness and a desire for praise.
So foolish it made one feel helpless.
Su Mo’s fingertips tightened, her hand trembling slightly. She took two deep breaths to calm her inner turmoil.
At this moment, she somewhat believed Uncle Luo’s concern; the Alpha she chose might really have a problem with her brain.
“Ten minutes. Bring your ID card and household register and come down to the intersection.”
Not wanting to say another word, Su Mo gave her instructions and quickly hung up, afraid of picking up something dirty if she delayed even a moment.
Listening to the “beep-beep” sound in her ear, Lin Mu scratched her head, puzzled. Had she upset the female lead somehow? Why did it sound like she hung up in a huff? Could it be that this was her first time being a sugar daddy, and she wasn’t used to being called “daddy,” so she got shy?
The more she thought about it, the more it seemed to be the case. Lin Mu, thinking she had uncovered the truth, immediately put the matter aside and happily changed clothes, bringing her documents as she left.
The female lead’s call definitely wasn’t to take her for a stroll and a chat; most likely, it was to fulfill the first condition of the contract: marriage and becoming a live-in partner!
The marriage process in this world wasn’t much different from her previous life, but Lin Mu didn’t really feel like she was getting married.
In her previous life, same-s3x marriage wasn’t yet legal. As a lesbian, she had been single for 25 years and never had the chance to even dream about such a thing.
And her marriage to the female lead felt more like playing a game of house with a rich woman. She would cooperate, get paid, and besides, the female lead had her fated partner in the future and wasn’t interested in her looks, so what was there to worry about?
She rushed to the intersection, arriving right on time, not a minute more or less.
Lin Mu held a file folder with both hands, shielding herself from the scorching sun. Her hunched neck and furtive glances made her appear less like a dashing female Alpha and more like a sneaky, shady thief.
Su Mo’s temples throbbed, and she inexplicably doubted her own judgment.
How had she been so blind back then?? Could even personal profiles be fraudulent these days??
A luxurious extended sedan pulled up in front of Lin Mu, stopping her from making a call. The car window rolled down, revealing half of a face as cool as snow. A cold glance from those indifferent eyes sent a shiver down her spine, making her instinctively straighten her hunched neck, like a peering turtle.
“Get in!”
Lin Mu blinked her beady eyes, then belatedly ran to the other side, opened the car door, and slid inside.
The car’s interior was spacious, more like a small bar. Lin Mu glanced around and chose to sit opposite Su Mo.
After all, they weren’t familiar, so why sit too close?
“Hello, Sugar Daddy!” Lin Mu sat properly, smiling at the person opposite her, revealing a mouthful of white teeth.
Her eyes were full of eagerness and a desire to please. It felt like if she had a tail, it would be spinning like a propeller again.
Su Mo raised an eyebrow, scrutinizing the husky opposite her. This posture gave her a strong sense of incongruity, but upon closer thought, she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
She lowered her gaze and nodded in response.
“Su Mo.”
“Oh, oh, Hello, Miss Su! I’m Lin Mu!”
Lin Mu nodded repeatedly. In fact, she only just learned the female lead’s name now. After all, with novels, she always admired how transmigrators could remember the names of protagonists and even supporting characters so clearly, because… weren’t these things you forgot after reading? How could anyone remember!
Unaware of Lin Mu’s little secret thoughts, Su Mo was more curious about her indifferent reaction.
“Miss Lin doesn’t recognize me?”
Lin Mu felt uneasy under her gaze and finally felt a bit of nervousness. The original owner’s memories were like watching a movie to her; even basic common sense was hazy, let alone her impression of the female lead.
“Um, am I supposed to know you?” Lin Mu cautiously probed, sounding a bit timid.
Su Mo was taken aback, and a forced smile played at the corners of her lips as she tried to compose herself.
“Heh, it’s fine if you don’t. Miss Lin, do you know what we’re going to do?”
Sensing her sugar daddy’s low mood, Lin Mu nodded frantically, “Of course, of course, I know this! Isn’t it just getting married?!”
Her casual demeanor was so relaxed, as if she were just going to the market to buy two pounds of pork belly.
Su Mo’s eye twitched. She continued calmly, “Miss Lin, have you thought it through? Do you know what it means for an Alpha to marry into a family?”
Lin Mu paused, “What does it mean? Doesn’t ‘marry into’ just mean I marry you?”
Even with the Alpha label, Lin Mu still didn’t fully grasp the power and status of Alphas in this society, nor did she realize the weight of her words.
Su Mo’s eyes flashed. She had finally pinpointed the source of that strangeness.
She looked at the bewildered Alpha opposite her, the corners of her eyes slightly upturned, like a cunning and alluring fox locking onto its prey.
“Yes, you’re right. It means you’re marrying me.”
