The Live-in Alpha Only Wants to Be a Quiet Salted Fish (GL) - Chapter 3
Alphas are arrogant; this was a truth Su Mo had long understood. Dominating and controlling Omegas was almost their instinct. Even the most gentle and polite Alpha couldn’t escape a subtle disdain for Omegas deep down.
That’s why she never wanted an Alpha companion, because the mere thought of an Alpha’s nature filled her with disgust. Yet, she needed a way to shut up those who championed Alpha supremacy.
Thus, an Alpha marrying into the family undoubtedly became the most effective method. It not only slapped them in the face but also trampled their dignity underfoot.
Lin Mu was the chosen Alpha.
She wasn’t the best, but she was the most suitable.
Her family’s decline, her fall from heaven to hell, made her an Alpha who was most likely to abandon her pride and accept Su Mo’s conditions.
The outcome was as expected: she succeeded. But what surprised her was that Lin Mu was even more interesting than she had imagined.
So interesting that she didn’t seem like an Alpha at all…
There was no contempt or ridicule in her eyes, none of the predatory desire that disgusted Su Mo. Only the cautious flattery and fawning one might show to a superior.
An Alpha actually lowering herself to curry favor with an Omega, even saying she’d marry an Omega—if this were public, it would be headline news, hailed by equality organizations as a model for A/O equality.
Su Mo’s gaze burned. The more she scrutinized Lin Mu, the more everything she had previously dismissed about her now seemed pleasing.
She didn’t need a live-in master. Compared to those Alphas who held arrogance as a virtue, Lin Mu’s cheerful, even ‘approachable’ demeanor, became pure advantages.
It made her wonder…
Is she really an Alpha?
“Sug… cough, Miss Su, is there something on my face?”
Lin Mu touched her face, a little awkward. Why was her sugar daddy suddenly so ‘enthusiastic’? It made her quite uncomfortable.
“No, Miss Lin is just very interesting.” Su Mo withdrew her gaze, her upturned lips indicating she was in a good mood. “Referring to each other by surname is a bit too distant. Let’s use first names. After all, you’ll need to cooperate with acting later, and it wouldn’t be good to reveal anything.”
Contract clause two: cooperate in maintaining a loving A/O public image.
Lin Mu nodded in understanding. Getting paid to do a job, just putting on a show, no hardship involved.
“Then… Su Mo?”
She tentatively called out, carefully observing Su Mo’s reaction.
“Or, you can be more intimate. Call me by my nickname, Momo.”
Su Mo’s eyes shifted, her posture gaining two parts of allure and charm, truly embodying the word: expressively tender.
Lin Mu’s internal alarm bells blared. She instinctively shivered, nearly shouting her thoughts aloud.
“Hmph, you temptress, who are you! Where’s my noble, cold, and aloof Sugar Daddy?!”
Seeing the Alpha’s eyes filled with terror, cowering in the corner, almost trembling, Su Mo playfully curved her lips, a hint of a smile in her eyes.
It seemed her live-in Alpha was not only interesting but also very…
Amusing.
••••
Half an hour later, the car pulled up to the local Civil Affairs Bureau. Lin Mu, who had been enduring the agony, sighed in relief, hastily opened the car door, and darted out, fleeing in disarray.
Su Mo’s upturned eye corners gradually settled, returning to her cool, icy demeanor. She took out her gear and fully armed herself.
A while later, Lin Mu aimlessly kicked pebbles, repeatedly looking back at the car door, like a faithful wife waiting for her husband.
“Didn’t we get here? Does getting out of the car take this long?!”
As she mumbled, Su Mo exited the car, startling Lin Mu so much she almost dropped the file bag.
Her slender figure was concealed by a voluminous coat, making her look like she had suddenly gained two sizes. A hat, a mask, and even a wavy wig!
Lin Mu stared silently at the sky, then glanced at the scorching sun, then at her sugar daddy’s out-of-season attire.
What was this quirk? Cross-dressing? Doesn’t seem like it!
“Come here.” The muffled voice from beneath the mask. Su Mo crooked a finger at Lin Mu. Against the backdrop of her bizarre outfit, her long, pale, delicate hand was particularly striking. “At least put on a show outside.”
Lin Mu had an epiphany and immediately gave her sugar daddy a confident look. I get it, just watch me!
Then, she took two steps, and with a swift move…
…hugged Su Mo’s arm.
Su Mo: ???
“Let’s go, darling,” Lin Mu said with a shy smile, two faint blushes rising on her cheeks, whether from embarrassment or heat, it was hard to tell.
Su Mo was utterly stunned. She was dragged for two steps before she belatedly reacted.
Wait, who’s the Omega here?! Is this Alpha crazy?!
Su Mo nearly ground her teeth to dust. She barely managed to pull back the embarrassing Alpha.
“The roles are reversed!!”
Lin Mu blinked, casting a confused glance.
“You’re the Alpha!” Su Mo stared at the claw on her arm, her temples throbbing with irritation. She had never been so speechless in her life.
Does this person have any sense of being an Alpha?!
“Oh, right, sorry, sorry! First time, no experience.”
Lin Mu awkwardly withdrew her hand, smiling apologetically. Her straightened posture made her half a head taller than Su Mo.
She wondered why it felt so awkward. She had only just transmigrated, and her mind hadn’t fully adjusted yet.
After much fidgeting and adjusting her posture, it finally felt right.
In early summer, Su Mo’s attire was undoubtedly eye-catching. Upon entering the Civil Affairs Bureau, many eyes, both overt and covert, were cast their way, secretly scrutinizing the peculiar newcomers.
Walking to the counter and handing over their documents, the staff member lazily took them, then paused abruptly while numbly flipping through them. She instinctively looked up, staring intently at Su Mo.
“You, you are…”
“Shh, it’s me. Thank you.” Su Mo pulled down her mask, revealing her stunning beauty.
“Woo!!” A scream was muffled by the staff member’s own hand.
“No trouble, no trouble at all! I’ll process your application right away!” she said, glancing at Lin Mu a few times. Her gaze… was a bit fierce.
Why is she acting like she’s seen a celebrity?
Lin Mu felt a chill, asking softly, “Um… do you two know each other?”
“No.”
“Then why is she…” Lin Mu gave a strange glance at the staff member, whose fingers were flying, typing furiously, as if she were on stimulants.
“I don’t know her, but she knows me.”
Su Mo rolled her eyes at her, flicking her disguised wavy hair. “Didn’t Uncle Luo tell you… I’m a celebrity.”
“A… celebrity??”
Lin Mu was a bit confused. Ah, when did he say that? Before I transmigrated?
Although the original book was an entertainment industry novel, she distinctly remembered that the female Omega lead was an entertainment company President, and the younger ‘little wolfdog’ she inexplicably sponsored was the celebrity. However, the text did mention that the female Omega lead had high status in the entertainment industry and knew many directors, helping the Alpha get connections.
“By the way, are you very famous?”
“I guess so. I just won ‘Best Actress’ this year.”
Saying this, Su Mo tilted her head to look at her, with a half-smile. “What, scared? If the news gets out, you, as a live-in Alpha, will probably be scorned, doxxed, cyber-bullied, and socially ruined by all Alphas. You can still regret it now.”
Lin Mu was silent for a moment, then stammered, “Since it’s so dangerous…”
Su Mo’s gaze cooled slightly, and her heart felt a momentary chill, unable to hide her disappointment.
“…can I get more money?”
“What did you say?” Su Mo was astonished, her eyes widening slightly, reflecting that pitiful face.
“The risk is too great, I need more money!” There was the familiar hand-rubbing gesture again.
Self-righteous, taking advantage of the situation!
The female lead was going to be a President in the future. It would be a waste not to milk her for all she’s worth. Once she’d accumulated enough money, she could comfortably be a salted fish and wait to die.
“Pfft…”
Amused by the Alpha’s mercenary nature, unlike her previous faint smiles, Su Mo’s red lips were hidden behind her mask, so their curve couldn’t be seen. But from her smiling eyes and the sparkle at their corners, she was very pleased.
Lin Mu, supporting the trembling Su Mo, blinked in confusion. Is it that funny?! I just asked for a raise, why is she mocking me so much?!
“Tell me, how much more do you want?”
Su Mo had, at some point, leaned her head on Lin Mu’s shoulder, the height just right. When she spoke, her warm breath, through the mask, tickled Lin Mu’s ear.
Lin Mu’s eyebrow twitched, and her earlobe tingled. She abruptly lowered her head, fidgeting with her fingers, flustered.
Her earlobe gradually turned red. Su Mo watched with interest as the Alpha’s fingers clenched and unclenched. They had already gone back and forth twice. Hadn’t she figured it out yet?
“Heh…”
The soft chuckle by her ear brought Lin Mu’s thoughts back. With a fierce resolve, she opened her palm and waved it.
“Fifty thousand!” A bold demand.
Su Mo surveyed the hand, but didn’t reply. Instead, she slowly raised her own hand and clasped it, her fair, soft hand grasping Lin Mu’s fingertips, one by one, bending them down until they formed a fist, which her soft palm then enveloped.
“We’ve signed a contract. Even if you regret it now, it’s too late. As for more money, not a single coin more…” She smiled cunningly, like a fox that had stolen a treat.
Unable to appreciate the subtle intimacy of the moment, all of Lin Mu’s attention was consumed by the rejected raise. Her expression visibly darkened, as if she had lost a parent.
The staff member behind the counter had been secretly watching for a long time, and a good deal of her earlier displeasure had dissipated.
Although her goddess getting married was a blow, the goddess and her Alpha really did seem to be in love!
