The Live-in Alpha Only Wants to Be a Quiet Salted Fish (GL) - Chapter 4
“Come home with me tonight…”
“What??”
In the car, Lin Mu looked shocked, arms crossed over her chest.
What kind of scumbag thing is that to say?! Even though they got the certificate, she’s an artist, not a prostitute!
“What kind of look is that?!” Su Mo glared at her fiercely.
As a dignified top-tier Omega, everywhere she went, she was courted and desired by Alphas. Yet with Lin Mu, it was as if she was the ravenous predator, lusting after Lin Mu’s ‘beauty’!
“Isn’t it just about acting the part? Why do I also have to, have to…” Lin Mu stammered, clutching her collar, her gaze wary.
Although she felt the female lead probably wouldn’t fancy her, it was better to be safe than sorry. What if she was suddenly struck by desire?!
“The contract does state that it’s just for show…”
Lin Mu had just breathed a sigh of relief, her hand not yet lowered, when she heard Su Mo’s tone shift.
“But do you have any idea how you acted today?!”
Lin Mu swallowed hard, “How… how was it? I thought I did pretty well…”
“Well?” Su Mo’s mouth twitched into a fake smile. “I don’t expect your acting to be superb, but at the very least…
…you need to act like an Alpha!”
Su Mo deliberately drew out the last few words, and when they landed, Lin Mu’s heart gave a heavy thump.
“What do you mean ‘act like an Alpha’? I am an Alpha, okay! If you don’t believe me, you can try!”
Lin Mu feigned composure, proudly puffing out her flat chest, showing off her lean physique. But no matter how she looked, she reeked of guilt and bluster.
“Oh…” Su Mo narrowed her phoenix eyes, paused, and then gave her an alluring wink.
“Alright, how do you want to try?”
Lin Mu: “…”
Hmph, you temptress, you really are after my good looks!
How to try? She had only transmigrated a few days ago, and Alphas don’t have extra attachments, so how would she know how to ‘try’?!
Lin Mu trembled as she opened her mouth, stammering twice, unable to utter a single word for a long time.
“Why are you silent? Is it that you don’t want to, or… you simply don’t know how?”
Su Mo raised her gaze, a cold glint flashing in her eyes, staring straight at Lin Mu.
The carefully selected tool had finally come online, but then she found out the goods didn’t match the description. Was she always like this, or… was she swapped midway, deliberately placed by her side?
“I…” Lin Mu’s heart pounded. She knew she had given herself away and aroused the female lead’s suspicion. A thought of confessing, of revealing everything, flashed through her mind.
But the next second.
“Screech…” A sudden brake, bringing strong inertia.
Lin Mu, seated with her back to the front, was pressed hard against the seat. Conversely, Su Mo involuntarily leaned forward, falling towards Lin Mu, practically throwing herself into her arms.
Subconsciously catching the person, a phrase suddenly popped into Lin Mu’s mind: soft jade and warm fragrance. She felt light, as if hugging a ball of cotton. A faint fruity scent drifted into her nose, too faint to identify, leaving only a lingering sweet aftertaste.
“Sorry, Miss, someone ran a red light ahead. Are you alright?”
The driver asked from the front, unable to see the intimate posture of the two in the back.
“I’m fine, just drive steadily.” Su Mo tried to maintain her normal voice as she instructed.
Noticing she was still in Lin Mu’s embrace, a hint of annoyance flashed in her eyes. She pushed weakly.
“You…” Haven’t you hugged enough?
Before she could finish, a sudden surge of force pushed her half a meter away, sending her crashing into the opposite seat.
The annoyance turned into astonishment. Su Mo stared at Lin Mu in disbelief. Before she could recover from the rough treatment, she heard Lin Mu immediately follow up with a sentence.
“What are you doing?! Pervert!”
A delicate accusation. Lin Mu crossed her arms over her chest, looking even more like a vulnerable Omega who had been molested than Su Mo.
Su Mo: ???
Did you get something wrong? I’m the Omega! I am!
A deep sense of helplessness washed over Su Mo. For the first time, she doubted her own gender and charm.
“Are you even an Alpha anymore?!”
Lin Mu’s eyes flickered. She gritted her teeth. “Alright, I’ll be frank! I don’t, don’t…”
It was as if something in the unseen choked her throat. A premonition told her that the recent accident was just a warning; if she insisted on spoiling the plot, something even more dangerous might happen.
Su Mo froze, involuntarily straightening up. “You don’t what?”
Su Mo’s forehead was covered in hot sweat. Suddenly, a flash of inspiration hit her, and she blurted out.
“I can’t!”
These three words were practically shouted.
She had never seen anyone declare themselves “unable” with such righteous indignation!
“Right, I can’t, so I don’t like Omegas, I like Alphas!”
Having rattled off that string of words at lightning speed, Lin Mu felt a great weight lift. The sense of crisis that had been lingering finally passed.
The most terrifying thing was sudden silence in the air.
Su Mo stared fixedly at the person opposite her. It took her a while to react before she spoke softly, “You’re AA-loving?” (meaning, an Alpha who likes Alphas)
“Of course! Compared to Omegas, I prefer cool and fierce female Alphas!”
That much was true; who doesn’t like a strong, mature woman!
Having been immersed in the entertainment industry for years, Su Mo naturally had a knack for reading people. Furthermore, this person wore her thoughts on her sleeve. When she talked about female Alphas, her eyes sparkled, and her face clearly spelled out one word…
Greedy!
That’s it, no wonder Lin Mu was indifferent to her, even unusually resistant. If she was AA-loving, it made sense. Looking at this person’s delicate appearance, she was probably the submissive one, which might even better satisfy an Alpha’s desire for conquest.
Su Mo believed her seven parts, and instantly lost interest. Her guard dropped, but it was followed by a faint sense of disappointment, for reasons even she didn’t understand.
The smile faded from her eyes. Su Mo reverted to her icy demeanor, her voice carrying a hint of annoyance that even she hadn’t detected.
“I don’t care if you like Omegas or Alphas, but you cannot develop other romantic relationships during the contract period. You know this, right?”
“Don’t worry about that, I have that much professional integrity.” Lin Mu patted her chest, promising.
Su Mo looked away, unable to stand her smug expression. “That’s best. But you still have to come back with me tonight…”
Lin Mu’s eyes widened, shivering. “Why…”
“Stop that expression, I’m not interested in you!” Su Mo frowned, barely concealing her irritation. “I don’t discriminate against your sexual orientation, but since you signed the contract, remember at all times that you are an Alpha. Don’t act like a delicate Omega.”
“In three days, you need to attend a shareholders’ meeting with me. These three days, I’ll have someone train you well to fix all your bad habits. I want an excellent live-in Alpha, even if you have to fake it, you will fake it!”
The sugar daddy had spoken. No matter how unwilling Lin Mu was, she could only accept her fate, tearfully embracing the three-day ‘cohabitation’.
Learning to be an Alpha!
••••
This was a villa. Lin Mu didn’t know how big it was, nor did she have the ability to estimate it. In short, it was very luxurious.
The vastness of the place secretly relieved her. The imagined scenario of two lonely women cohabiting in a single room didn’t exist, because there were quite a few bodyguards and gardeners outside, not to mention the maids inside. It was likely that just one bathroom inside was bigger than her current cramped dwelling.
The lives of the rich were truly this extravagant and corrupting, leading people to decadence!
Because she came in a hurry, she just grabbed some random clothes and her most important item: her laptop.
She was still in her afternoon attire: a simple T-shirt and jeans, paired with white sneakers. The shoes, judging by their quality, might have once been brand-name, but having been worn for a long time, they were somewhat yellowed, looking a bit shabby and out of place in this luxurious detached villa.
Lin Mu wasn’t spurred to any feelings of inferiority by the disparity. Her only thought was…
Regret! Deep regret!
She regretted not extorting more money. How could she have been swayed by a mere 100,000? Looking at the female lead’s financial power, if she had negotiated, her monthly salary might have doubled or tripled! She even suspected her monthly salary might be less than that of the maids inside.
What Lin Mu didn’t know was that the lawyer’s initial offer was just a casual figure, meant to lower her expectations and then gradually increase the price. But who knew this simpleton would agree without a second thought, making the lawyer still feel she was unreliable and too ‘cheap’!
“Miss, you’re back.”
Following Su Mo through the door, a slightly plump middle-aged woman approached. After familiarly taking Su Mo’s bag, her gaze fell on Lin Mu, her eyes filled with the joy of a mother-in-law seeing her son-in-law.
“Oh my, this must be the son-in-law. Come, come, I’ll take that for you.” As she spoke, she reached for Lin Mu’s laptop bag, her enthusiasm making Lin Mu quite uncomfortable.
Hearing the address, it seemed Su Mo had already briefed them. She just wondered if the household staff knew their marriage was fake.
“No, no, it’s not much. I can do it myself.”
Lin Mu waved her hands repeatedly, declining. She was used to being poor and not having people wait on her, especially an elder.
“Alright, Aunt Liang, don’t bother with her. She’ll be here for three days. Just arrange a guest room for her.”
Su Mo spoke, halting the aunt. Her expression was more animated than it had been outside, though her mood was still low.
“The teacher will arrive soon. Once you’re settled, wait for him in the living room.”
Giving a casual instruction, Su Mo turned and left without lingering, moving quickly.
Now that she thought about it, she could have sent someone to teach Lin Mu, or arranged for Lin Mu to stay somewhere else. She wondered if she had been influenced by this goofball at the time, losing her mind to say she’d bring her home, and now she couldn’t back out, forced to let an Alpha openly enter her private space.
Thinking about all the ways this person had irked her today, Su Mo’s teeth ached with irritation, and she radiated a low-pressure aura, making her slippers squeak loudly with each step.
Although Su Mo’s coldness puzzled Lin Mu, she had at least begun to get used to the woman’s unpredictable moods. She’s a sugar daddy, after all. She’s entitled to her moods and tantrums, Lin Mu thought, not taking it too much to heart.
But while Lin Mu didn’t care, the other household members noticed their Miss’s attitude. All at once, many glances cast at Lin Mu became even more disdainful.
