The Live-in Alpha Only Wants to Be a Quiet Salted Fish (GL) - Chapter 8
At Suhe Entertainment, a stretched limousine pulled up unhurriedly in front of the main entrance.
Passing employees all knew whose car this was, so they craned their necks, eagerly anticipating.
Unfortunately, the people in the car couldn’t hear their wishes. The first to alight was an unfamiliar female Alpha, and only then, leaning on the female Alpha’s arm, did the slowly emerging figure of Suhe’s top star, Best Actress Su Mo, appear.
This was Su Mo’s first appearance at the company since announcing her temporary hiatus. The reasons for her hiatus were varied, with the most plausible being a conflict over her contract with the company. However, since it was her family’s industry, the benefits wouldn’t flow to outsiders. It was unclear if this appearance signaled a reconciliation.
More curious than Su Mo’s appearance was the Alpha beside her. Their intimate gestures suggested a special relationship. No one knew which family’s young master had captured the beauty’s heart.
Lin Mu was attentive to everything around her. As the topic of discussion, a few comments drifted to her ears.
She kept her eyes straight ahead, whispering proudly to Su Mo.
“They’re saying I’m some family’s young master…”
The husky’s lips curved, almost wagging her tail in triumph. Su Mo, imperceptibly, used their intertwined arms to conceal her other hand as it skillfully landed on Lin Mu’s waist, precisely pinching a soft spot and giving it a hard twist.
“Ugh, hiss…” The Alpha gasped, sucking in a cold breath.
“Hold that expression. Don’t let your silly, clumsy look show.”
“Silly where?! That’s slander!” Lin Mu gritted her teeth, her voice forced out between them.
What was wrong with this woman? Ever since that kick during supper, she had habitually started ‘laying hands’ on her, in a literal sense. While most of the time it was harmless, there were always moments when she hit a pressure point, like now. The flesh on her waist was so soft; twisting it really hurt.
“Silly everywhere, silly Alpha!” Su Mo grumbled, but her hand soothingly rubbed the spot, calming the husky about to erupt.
She had resigned herself to it. Ever since that “sister” comment, she couldn’t view Lin Mu as a normal Alpha anymore, only as a good friend, a close confidante. And honestly, having someone to bicker and fight with was quite interesting. Teasing the silly Alpha always brought some novel joy.
“Oh, if it isn’t our Suhe’s top star. What brings you to the company?”
A nonchalant voice came from behind them. The term “top star” almost likened Su Mo to ancient courtesans, showing utter contempt.
The two, waiting for the elevator, exchanged a glance. Their small hand gestures ceased as they united against the outsider.
“Can’t I come to my own company? What, He Jiye, you haven’t even taken power yet, and you’re trying to throw your weight around with me?”
The two turned around, facing the smirking male Alpha, dressed like a playboy, with no proper posture.
“Look at you, you’re my dear sister. I wouldn’t have time to protect you, let alone throw my weight around. ” He adjusted his loose collar, raising an eyebrow. “However, sister, since you’re an Omega, managing a company is better left to me, an Alpha. Omegas should act like Omegas, honestly looking after their husbands and raising children. Don’t always think about unrealistic things like vying for power and profit.”
Su Mo scoffed, “Heh, I dare not accept that ‘sister’. After all, my mother couldn’t give birth to trash like you. Besides being an Alpha, what else do you have to offer? Harassing employees, or getting someone’s Omega pregnant and then denying it? If even an Alpha like you, who only knows how to chase women, can inherit the company, then what do I have to be afraid of fighting for!”
“You…” The male Alpha was hit where it hurt, unable to find a comeback for a long time. But when he saw the silent Lin Mu, his eyes suddenly lit up.
“Sister, that’s not right. Alpha-Omega love is natural. Aren’t you the same, after being lonely for so long, you finally decided to find an Alpha to taste the pleasures? If your fans knew that their aloof goddess Su Mo secretly…”
The male Alpha couldn’t finish his sentence, because Lin Mu had already released Su Mo and walked up to him.
The gap between A-rank and S-rank was like a chasm. Even though Lin Mu didn’t release a hint of pheromone, the instinctive fear still made him tremble uncontrollably.
“What do you want? This is my family’s company, I warn you, come…”
“Call me brother-in-law!” Lin Mu narrowed her eyes at him, firmly choking back the unsaid plea.
“???”
Lin Mu grew impatient. “Didn’t you hear me tell you to call me brother-in-law? Didn’t your parents teach you to respect your elders? Don’t you have any manners?!”
“You… I…” The male Alpha’s face flushed with anger. He couldn’t utter a word for a long time, even losing his head and looking to Su Mo for help.
Su Mo, of course, completely ignored him, instead crossing her arms and watching with interest.
“Sister, brother-in-law…” Having no other choice, the male Alpha gritted his teeth and admitted defeat, calling out in a voice as tiny as a mosquito’s, cowering like a quail.
Lin Mu narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing the male Alpha, making him tremble with apprehension.
“Your voice is so small, it shows you’re not sincere. Tell me, do you not want to acknowledge me as your brother-in-law?”
“No, I, you…” What exactly do you want?!
Lin Mu shook her head in disappointment. “Forget it, forget it. Since you’re so reluctant, then never mind. It just so happens my wife doesn’t want to acknowledge you as a cheap younger brother either.”
Saying this, she pointed to the door. “Such a disrespectful, ill-mannered brat like you, we’ll just pretend you don’t exist in this family. Go on.”
The male Alpha was thoroughly scolded by her, completely stunned. He walked two steps in the direction she pointed before belatedly realizing that he… seemed to have been played???
He abruptly turned back, only to see the elevator doors slowly closing, and behind them, the Alpha’s gaze, like she was looking at an idiot.
“You bastards, you two dog A/O, you…” The male Alpha shouted hysterically, even trying to pry open the elevator doors with his hands. Fortunately, he was finally restrained by security, barely regaining his composure.
He glared fiercely at the elevator doors, then, enduring a slew of strange looks, walked furiously towards the employee elevator on the other side.
You two dog A/O, just you wait. I’ll make you pay for this sooner or later!
On the other side, as the elevator slowly ascended, Su Mo finally couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
She hadn’t expected that watching someone be rendered speechless by a silly Alpha could actually be quite satisfying.
“I didn’t realize you had such a sharp tongue. Where did you learn all that?”
“Oh, back in the day, I used to battle those chauvinist men online for three hundred rounds. This is nothing. This kid, he can’t even withstand one finger’s worth of my output. His rank is too low.”
Don’t get the wrong idea, it was just one finger typing!
“Chauvinist men?” (straight man cancer)
“Cough, straight Alpha cancer, straight Alpha cancer. My tongue slipped for a moment. I just despise these big Alpha-supremacist people. Always saying Omegas are useless, what Omegas should do. Did Omegas eat their rice? They have no real ability, yet they’re full of superiority.”
Lin Mu’s face was mocking, Su Mo’s was odd.
I think I’m the Omega. Why are you so empathetic and angry?
Noticing Su Mo’s expression, perhaps thinking she was nervous, Lin Mu slapped her shoulder heartily.
“Don’t worry, sis. That trash definitely can’t beat you. In the future, you’ll definitely become a famous President Omega, and maybe even get to keep a younger Alpha, starting a beautiful new life!”
Lin Mu winked. Su Mo felt a little peculiar inside.
Keep a younger Alpha? Is a husky a type of wolfdog? Yes, she looks quite like a wolf on the outside, but on the inside, she’s truly a dog!
The elevator arrived. Lin Mu bent her arm, offering it to Su Mo.
“Sister, you got this! I’m looking forward to your performance!” In formal settings, she was just a quiet backdrop. She wouldn’t dare to mess around anymore.
“Hmph, as if you needed to tell me.” Su Mo sniffed arrogantly, linking her arm with Lin Mu’s.
It was the first time someone stood by her side, enduring the storm with her. This feeling…
…wasn’t bad at all.
••••
The large conference room was abuzz with people, filled with a constant low hum of discussion.
Seated at the head of the table, a male Alpha with temples streaked with gray intermittently raised his hand to check his wrist-watch.
“Lawyer Luo, how much longer until your client arrives?”
The lawyer pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses. “No need to rush. My client won’t be late. Besides, didn’t Mr. He’s son also not arrive yet?”
The man addressed as Mr. He looked a bit awkward. “You flatter me. My son is quite useless. I’ll hurry him up now.”
As he spoke, the main doors were pushed open.
“Quite lively, isn’t it? Suhe is holding a shareholder meeting, and no one bothered to inform me.” Su Mo entered, accompanied by Lin Mu.
Mr. He’s expression froze, then turned to displeasure. “What are you doing here? What are you, an Omega, doing at a shareholder meeting? Go back quickly, don’t make a fool of yourself here.”
Seeing this inherited style, truly deserving of an old-fashioned Alpha who raised such a little chauvinist Alpha, Lin Mu’s fists clenched.
“Making a fool of myself? That’s nothing compared to you, Mr. He. That good-for-nothing He Jiye must have embarrassed you quite a lot, hasn’t he? Why bother? Your reputation for most of your life… oh no, your reputation was already gone. You’re using money from a company my mother and I built. Doesn’t that money bother your conscience?”
The others present heard these accusations and remained unmoved. They were well aware of the situation and had long been dissatisfied with Mr. He’s attempts to push his only son. At this moment, they were happy to watch the show.
“What madness are you spouting now!” The old chauvinist Alpha’s face flushed. He looked around at everyone, and just then, the younger chauvinist Alpha also arrived. He immediately ordered.
“Jiye, quickly drag your sister out. Don’t let her make a fool of herself here!”
The younger chauvinist Alpha tried to make a move, but was coldly stopped by Lin Mu, who stood beside Su Mo.
“Don’t trouble yourself. Today, I have nothing to do with your He family.”
“Miss, you’ve arrived.” The lawyer stood up and bowed from afar.
Su Mo swept her gaze over the faces of the greatly changed crowd, a half-smile playing on her lips.
“I represent the ‘Su’ of Suhe Entertainment.”
