The Lost Lamb's Trap - Chapter 18.3
Chapter 18.3: Stars (2)
The person was Lin Ke. The wind blew, and the curls by her ears fluttered.
When Duan Jiayang looked up at her, Lin Ke’s gaze was on Lan Yao, who was holding an umbrella on the steps below. Lan Yao didn’t know what was going on. She lowered her head and pressed the button on the automatic umbrella. With a click, the umbrella opened like a flower, and the rain from the sky splattered to the sides.
Lin Ke didn’t get angry and break the umbrella. She just slowly pulled Duan Jiayang back when she tried to walk toward the other person.
Even with someone standing on the steps, Duan Jiayang could only grit her teeth and not call for help.
Lin Ke held her wrist and pulled it down hard. It didn’t hurt; it just restrained her.
Lan Yao held the umbrella and looked over. She was stunned for a moment, and her eyebrows furrowed.
The atmosphere was awkward, especially with so many people coming and going at the company entrance. Duan Jiayang subconsciously lowered her head, ready to walk down the steps, but Lin Ke held her hand tightly. Her high heels slipped on the steps. Lin Ke held her hand firmly, forcing her to stand still.
“Lin Ke.”
“Hmm?” She looked at her.
Duan Jiayang felt her nerves twitching. She wasn’t repressed now; she seemed excited. She was encouraging her to call out to her a few more times.
The reddish-orange color Duan Jiayang had seen yesterday wasn’t because she was about to cry. It must have been the light. The starlight and streetlights were intertwined and falling on her eye sockets. Now, she was covered in a murky black.
Lan Yao went upstairs. “General Manager Lin, it’s after work. There’s no need to hold on to your employee…” Her voice was low. She waved to Duan Jiayang. “Jiayang, come here.”
Duan Jiayang wanted to go, but Lin Ke’s grip was strong. Lin Ke held her tightly and said coldly, “There’s a design that needs to be revised.”
“Can’t it wait until tomorrow?” Duan Jiayang was afraid of her and subconsciously wanted to escape.
“It can. It can be done in the office tomorrow.”
Lin Ke pulled Duan Jiayang down the steps. Her movements weren’t hurried, but they were heavy. Duan Jiayang was like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered. She turned her head and saw Lan Yao holding an umbrella, walking down the steps, ready to pull her away. But when their eyes met, Duan Jiayang closed her eyes.
Duan Jiayang was put into the car by Lin Ke in a way that wasn’t very graceful.
Lin Ke closed the umbrella and shook it hard twice. Then she got into the car directly. Her shoulders were wet, and her hair was in a half-dry, flexible state.
There were people coming and going from the company. Duan Jiayang’s face was too recognizable, and she didn’t want people talking about her.
Lan Yao was still in the same position. She was holding the umbrella, and Duan Jiayang didn’t have time to see her expression. Lin Ke stepped on the gas pedal quickly. She could only see Lan Yao’s umbrella tipping down, pouring a curtain of rain.
After a long time, Duan Jiayang realized that the car was driving around without any destination. Duan Jiayang tentatively asked, “Are you angry?”
“Why would I be angry at you? Lan Yao is the one who’s harassing you.”
Duan Jiayang said, “This isn’t harassment.”
“Then what is it?”
If Duan Jiayang said it was a blind date, something would definitely happen. Lin Ke might drive the car and crash it everywhere.
“I won’t be angry at you.” Her tone was calm, but Duan Jiayang saw in the rearview mirror that her lips were visibly tight and twitching slightly.
“Where are you going?”
“It’s rare that it’s raining. Let’s drive around. Do you want me to stop?”
Duan Jiayang didn’t dare to reply. At this moment, her words were too gloomy. She couldn’t tell if she wanted her to stop the car or to stop something else. Duan Jiayang was scared…
Duan Jiayang’s fingers curled in.
The car stopped.
Duan Jiayang looked outside. The car was parked in a place she had never been to before, at the entrance of an alley.
Lin Ke pushed the car door open. Duan Jiayang subconsciously reached to hold the car door.
Duan Jiayang’s phone rang. It was from a luxury brand store. Duan Jiayang wasn’t going to answer it. Lin Ke pushed her hand hard and got into the car. The phone fell onto the seat next to her, then rolled onto the floor.
She squeezed into the car, facing the humid rain.
“You said you weren’t angry.”
“I’m not.”
“Let go.”
Lin Ke held her hand and pressed down hard. The unopened car door let in the humid rain. “If you’re deliberately using her to make me angry, then I’m angry.”
Duan Jiayang bit her lip, unable to figure out what she meant. She said she wasn’t angry, but her eyes were fierce and malicious.
“You can’t keep using Lan Yao to make me angry.” Her voice lowered. The look in her eyes was extremely hurt. The rain was pounding on the car windows, making a rustling sound in Duan Jiayang’s ears. Duan Jiayang subconsciously said, “I didn’t.”
She said, “Then she’s seducing you.”
Duan Jiayang was speechless. She had actually lied. At first, she had wanted to use the blind date to provoke her, to make her retreat and to make them stay within their boundaries.
“It has nothing to do with her. I want to go back.”
“Can you still go back?”
Lin Ke looked at her with burning eyes. She lifted her skirt, raised her legs, and knelt on Duan Jiayang’s lap. Duan Jiayang’s nerves tensed up. She backed away in a panic until she couldn’t retreat anymore. She pushed and pinched her. Duan Jiayang told her to get down and to stay away. She was afraid of her, she dreaded her. But Lin Ke didn’t move. In her panic, Duan Jiayang slapped her across the face. Pa. The slap and her rapid breathing mixed together. Duan Jiayang’s palm felt numb, and she looked at her with a mix of fear and sympathy. In that moment, she felt like she was going to die.
Lin Ke stopped. Her chest was heaving violently.
She was calm for a minute.
Then, Lin Ke grabbed her by the shoulders with both hands. Duan Jiayang clenched her fists and hit her shoulders. She opened her mouth and cursed, “Lin Ke, you’re crazy…”
The rain outside was pouring down. Lin Ke’s thumb pressed hard against the center of her throat. Duan Jiayang winced and closed her lips. She was caught off guard when Lin Ke bit her lips.
Their lips and tongues merged. The soft tongue hit her teeth. They hadn’t kissed in a long time, but their breaths were so familiar. Lin Ke was heavily pressed against her. Her hands were gripping her shoulders. Her skirt was lifted to her legs. The wind and rain blew in, fiercely engulfing her whole body.
Duan Jiayang tried to move away from her lips. Lin Ke grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her back. Duan Jiayang’s eyes were red. She cursed her, “Crazy dog, crazy dog. You haven’t changed at all after all these years…”
Lin Ke pressed her lips down and said, “Little Lamb… Don’t secretly get excited. Be more proactive and bold. Climb up and cling to me like you used to…”
