The Mother-In-Law's Embrace - Chapter 6
Li Wanxing looked at the young girl before her. Her skin was pale, but now, it flushed a vibrant pink, like blooming peach blossoms, an unnatural blush that painted her cheeks.
She seemed nervous, her legs tightly pressed together, hands fidgeting with the bathrobe belt as if seeking comfort in its familiar fabric.
The girl, just out of the shower, radiated the fresh scent of bath products, like petals kissed by rain. Her wet hair cascaded down her shoulders, each strand dripping water onto the towel-wrapped fabric.
Despite this fragile appearance, she possessed an unexpected inner strength and resilience.
Just moments ago, she’d been a storm of fury at the poolside, radiating life and energy, a stark contrast to the stagnant, putrid atmosphere of this place.
Within minutes, all her information had been laid bare on Li Wanxing’s desk, now spread across the small coffee table before them. The girl seemed aware of it, her head bowed as she stared intently at the white paper filled with black characters – a detailed chronicle of her life spanning twenty-four years, even specifying the hospital room number where her unconscious sister lay.
This was the power of the elite, laid bare.
Now that they knew her circumstances, surely it was time for the humiliation and degradation to begin?
Especially since she was dishevelled – in a bathrobe, with messy hair – appearing as an outsider compared to the elegant woman before her. She would undoubtedly be ridiculed and belittled.
Indeed, the woman spoke, her voice cold, “Leave my son.”
Lin Wancheng’s heart sank. She opened her mouth to explain but was cut off by the next words that sent a jolt of surprise through her, causing her to stand abruptly:
“Come with me.”
A black card followed, tossed carelessly onto the table.
What…? What was this?
Lin Wancheng stood frozen, her eyes wide with disbelief, even doubting if she had somehow succumbed to fever-induced hallucinations.
But the woman repeated, “Leave my son, come with me.”
Her voice held a unique rhythm, like clear water flowing from a mountain stream, carrying a hint of icy coldness. Her words were firm and commanding, making Lin Wancheng’s heart race uncontrollably.
Sweat trickled down her private parts, leaving behind a tingling itch…
She wanted more…
Wait, what was she thinking?
Lin Wancheng drew a deep breath, trying to regain control. She desperately needed to think rationally.
“Mr. Li,” she stammered, her voice trembling. “Are you joking?”
Li Wanxing simply looked at her calmly, her tone unwavering, “I’m serious.”
“You know,” she continued, picking up her teacup and tracing the rim with her slender fingers, “Tonight, Li Han Night went to such great lengths to bring me here, precisely to show me what his beloved looks like, to convince me that he has changed, that he won’t be as reckless as before…”
Li Wanxing’s lips curled into a knowing smirk.
“But he succeeded in one thing.”
Lin Wancheng protested, “But I didn’t do anything!”
“I know,” Li Wanxing replied with a hint of amusement. “I know what happened between you two. Only that fool would try to deceive me. But he did succeed in showing me…you are indeed good.”
Li Wanxing stood up, her tall frame casting a shadow over Lin Wancheng. Her fingertips were cool against her chin, forcing her gaze upwards.
“He succeeded in showing me you.”
Lin Wancheng’s mind was swirling with confusion. She wanted her eyes to be hard and resolute, but they remained watery, reflecting the turmoil within.
Her voice came out soft and shaky, “I don’t want…and we are both women…What kind of joke is this…”
Li Wanxing watched as Lin Wancheng’s gaze dropped, a blush creeping up her neck. She leaned in closer, inhaling the sweet scent of the girl’s skin, “Then let go of me.”
“No…it feels so good…” Lin Wancheng mumbled, unable to break away from the warmth radiating from Li Wanxing. Her eyes glazed over with a mix of confusion and desire.
Li Wanxing saw the struggle within the girl, her desire battling with her apprehension. She leaned down, whispering, “Come with me, and your sister’s medical expenses will be taken care of.”
The words struck Lin Wancheng like a lifeline.
Since the day her parents died two years ago, she had vowed to support her sister.
She worked tirelessly, taking on extra shifts, sacrificing everything for the sake of her younger sibling. But even with all her efforts, the mounting medical bills felt insurmountable. The best hospital treatment remained beyond her reach.
Seeing Lin Wancheng’s hesitation, Li Wanxing added, “I will arrange for her to be transferred to a Li Corporation hospital. She will receive the best care from top specialists.”
Lin Wancheng couldn’t refuse anymore.
She knew how prestigious Li Corporation hospitals were, and the astronomical cost of treatment they provided. And Li Wanxing…she was a woman, a beautiful, powerful woman with an icy aura.
What would happen between them? Lin Wancheng shuddered at the thought but couldn’t bring herself to turn down this offer. It was her only chance to save her sister.
She swallowed hard, her voice barely a whisper, “Okay.”
A bead of sweat trickled down from her inner thigh, joining others in forming a pool on the floor. Her body was betraying her, consumed by an uncontrollable heat that had nothing to do with fever.
