Chapter 10: 010 “Looks Like You’ve Been Touching Her A Lot, Huh?”…
Qi Wanyang’s eyes were full of concern: “Can you stand up?” she asked, reaching out her hand.
“Don’t pretend to be nice! I don’t need your help!” Gu Linlang was both ashamed and annoyed, and raised her hand to slap away the offensive hand. In this split second—
“Ding!” The System’s prompt sounded unsuitably, “Host, please seize the opportunity to complete the ‘actively holding hands’ mission and lift the bad luck.”
Thinking of the string of bad luck just moments ago, Gu Linlang bit her lower lip. Her hand, which was halfway through the swing, abruptly stopped and awkwardly rested on Qi Wanyang’s palm.
“Ding! Congratulations, Host, for completing the hand-holding mission! Love Value +20! Bad Luck Warning lifted.” But Gu Linlang just felt more wronged than ever.
Qi Wanyang was slightly stunned. She had been ready for her hand to be slapped away, but she hadn’t expected Gu Linlang to actively hold it.
The certain haughty Miss was visibly flustered, her ears bright red, and her head nearly buried in her chest, refusing to look up at her.
Qi Wanyang’s heart softened, and a smile blossomed in her eyes. Her wrist deftly turned, effortlessly taking the lead and gripping Gu Linlang’s hand. With her other arm, she wrapped it around Gu Linlang’s waist and easily lifted her off the ground.
This action immediately caused a stir. Even Hong Hui and her friends widened their eyes as if they had witnessed something extraordinary.
“Qi Wanyang is so much prettier in person than in pictures! It’s unfairly beautiful!” Zhao Xiaoxuan said excitedly.
Hu Xinyi nodded repeatedly: “I know! She’s beautiful and powerful. Publicly giving a princess carry—she’s totally a dominant CEO!”
“Stop being so boy-crazy,” Hong Hui said, looking worriedly at Gu Linlang struggling in Qi Wanyang’s arms. “Linlang looks really reluctant. Should we help?”
Gu Linlang hated Qi Wanyang acting so presumptuously and struggled desperately to be put down.
Qi Wanyang didn’t let go; she carried her directly into a nearby shoe store and set her down on a fitting stool. “Let me see where you’re hurt.”
Gu Linlang immediately shoved Qi Wanyang’s hands away: “It’s fine, I’m okay! Just go away! I don’t need your help!” Nothing good ever happened when Qi Wanyang was within a one-kilometer radius!
But Qi Wanyang was unperturbed. She gently lifted Gu Linlang’s long skirt, saw her swollen knee, and frowned: “You need to have it treated, or it will get worse.”
Hearing the word “hospital,” Gu Linlang instantly panicked, like a cat whose tail was stepped on: “I’m not going! It’s just a minor injury, why would I need to go to the hospital? I’m not that delicate!”
While others might not think much of her reaction, Hong Hui and the others were silently laughing. Gu Linlang usually acted fearless, yet she was still so terrified of going to the hospital.
Qi Wanyang, of course, knew her weakness. She smiled lightly: “Fine, no hospital then. You don’t want to worry your family, right? Let’s go to my place. I can handle a minor injury like this. The guest room has been tidied up; you won’t have to squeeze into one bed with me like last night.”
Hearing this, Gu Linlang immediately remembered the embarrassment of being hugged by Qi Wanyang all night, and her face flushed crimson.
Glancing at Hong Hui and the others still eavesdropping nearby, she became angry and embarrassed: “Nonsense! Who was squeezing into a bed with you? I have plenty of friends! If I’m not going to the hospital or home, don’t you think I have other places to go?”
With a flash of inspiration, Gu Linlang turned to Hong Hui: “Hong Hui, I’m staying at your place tonight.” She then looked at Zhao Xiaoxuan and Hu Xinyi: “I can go to your places too, if it’s convenient.”
The three friends, who were watching the show, were suddenly called out and immediately panicked. Especially facing Qi Wanyang’s icy gaze, they all felt a shiver down their spines.
The three girls stepped back in unison, shaking their heads frantically. Hong Hui spoke first: “Linlang, bad timing. My relatives are coming tonight, so we really don’t have room.”
Hu Xinyi quickly chimed in: “I… I have to go to my grandmother’s house, so it might not be convenient…”
Zhao Xiaoxuan was the most direct: “I have something else to do, I’m leaving first!” She turned and ran.
Hong Hui and Hu Xinyi exchanged a glance, forced a dry laugh, and said to the two women: “We’ll be going too. We didn’t see anything, we didn’t hear anything. You two carry on.” Then they also ran off.
Gu Linlang watched their retreating backs, gritting her teeth: “These disloyal people! And here I was so good to them, treating them to singing and dinner!”
Qi Wanyang looked on calmly: “It seems your friends are all very busy.”
Gu Linlang defiantly pulled out her phone, ready to call for help: “Who says I only have these few friends?”
Hong Hui and her two friends jogged all the way to the underground parking lot. When they gathered, Zhao Xiaoxuan felt a little guilty: “Was it wrong of us to just leave Linlang there? Do you think she’ll cut us off?”
Hu Xinyi shot her a look: “Now you’re worried? You ran faster than anyone else just now, without even saying goodbye.”
Zhao Xiaoxuan chuckled nervously: “Well, you guys rejected her first, didn’t you? Besides, Qi Wanyang’s eyes looked like they were ready to kill… I didn’t dare agree, so I figured running away was the best defense.” She proudly shook her head, feeling clever.
Hu Xinyi didn’t bother to critique her anymore. Hong Hui, however, calmly analyzed: “Actually, the situation might not be that bad. Although Linlang and Qi Wanyang have been at odds since childhood, Qi Wanyang genuinely cares about her—Linlang just hasn’t realized it.”
“Now that you mention it, I remember something,” Hu Xinyi lowered her voice. “In high school, Linlang studied frantically to win against Qi Wanyang just once, and she made herself sick. She kept trying to attend class with a 39°C fever, but she collapsed during the break. Everyone panicked, but Qi Wanyang was the first to rush over and support her. You guys didn’t see it, but that usually distant person’s eyes were red with worry.”
Zhao Xiaoxuan recalled the incident and nodded: “I heard about that too. But wasn’t it the homeroom teacher who carried her to the infirmary in the end?”
Hong Hui shrugged: “Yeah, but I felt Qi Wanyang genuinely wanted to carry her herself. If she hadn’t been so thin back then that she couldn’t carry Linlang, who knows…”
Hu Xinyi suddenly clapped her hands: “Look at how easily she just picked up Linlang now! She definitely worked out! Do you think Qi Wanyang might have started training her arm strength because of that incident?”
Hong Hui smiled knowingly: “With Qi Wanyang, it’s certainly plausible. I’ve always thought they were a good match—a classic childhood frenemy, bickering couple. They were both so prideful as kids, but now Qi Wanyang has clearly softened her stance. Linlang is the type who responds well to kindness, so I think things are looking up for them.” She winked suggestively. “Besides, didn’t Qi Wanyang just say she slept with Linlang last night? Linlang is so thin-skinned; she’s probably just embarrassed and putting on a brave face.”
Hu Xinyi nodded vigorously: “Exactly! We all saw it just now. Linlang was telling Qi Wanyang to leave her alone, but she still actively held her hand! ” She covered her face, smiling suggestively. “If you ask me, they’re playing a game of mutual attraction. We shouldn’t get involved!”
Zhao Xiaoxuan scratched her head, a little hesitant: “Is that what you guys think… Although seeing pretty girls together is pleasing to the eye, same-s3x… I still feel a little…”
Hong Hui and Hu Xinyi both rolled their eyes at her simultaneously, and Zhao Xiaoxuan quickly shut up.
Hu Xinyi looked rapt: “What’s wrong with same-s3x? Especially with those two, they’re a perfect match! I used to secretly ‘ship’ them! The whole ‘love-hate’ dynamic is so thrilling! It’s an injustice if they don’t end up together! Besides, same-s3x marriage is legal now, why are you still so backward in your thinking?”
“Oh, oh, right, same-s3x couples can get married now,” Zhao Xiaoxuan nodded repeatedly. And when she imagined Gu Linlang and Qi Wanyang standing together, it wasn’t so unacceptable after all.
After all, two beautiful women together is always a sight to behold.
Twenty minutes later, the rescue called by Gu Linlang, Xu Yiru, arrived in a rush.
She looked at the fuming Gu Linlang, helped her into the back seat, and then turned to Qi Wanyang with a raised eyebrow, teasing softly: “What happened? Did you provoke our Miss Gu again? Your relationship is getting more and more interesting, constantly sticking together.”
Qi Wanyang helplessly rubbed her temples: “I just came here for a business meeting and dinner. I didn’t know she was here too.”
Qi Wanyang pointed to Gu Linlang in the car. “She twisted her ankle and scraped her knee. I wanted to check the injury, but she’s like an angry cat; she won’t let me touch her.” She then looked at Xu Yiru, “Sis, please help her apply some medicine later.”
Xu Yiru’s smile deepened when she heard this: “Won’t let you touch her?” She gave Qi Wanyang a meaningful look. “Looks like you’ve been touching her a lot, huh?”
Seeing Qi Wanyang’s ears turn slightly red, Xu Yiru understood. She waved her hand: “Alright, I wouldn’t dare take over your precious darling. Get in the car; you’ll have to apply the medicine yourself.”
Qi Wanyang didn’t refuse this time. She opened the back door and sat down next to Gu Linlang.
Gu Linlang instantly glared at her for following: “Qi Wanyang, are you idle? What are you following me for?”
Qi Wanyang smiled calmly: “Why are you so nervous, Miss Gu? Do I need to report to you when I go to my cousin’s house?”
Gu Linlang was speechless. She was about to reach for the door handle, but Xu Yiru had already locked the car and stepped on the gas.
“Linlang,” Xu Yiru advised while driving, “you need to treat this injury, or you’ll be limping tomorrow, and your dad will worry himself sick.”
Gu Linlang withdrew her hand sheepishly: “…You’re right.” She sighed, “My dad is just too dramatic. He makes a fuss over minor injuries and wants to send me to the hospital at the drop of a hat.”
Xu Yiru comforted her with a smile: “All parents are like that. Don’t worry, this minor injury doesn’t require a hospital visit. I have medicine at home, and you’ll be fine soon.”
Gu Linlang reluctantly nodded, still slightly unhappy that Qi Wanyang was sitting next to her.
What Gu Linlang didn’t anticipate was that the moment Xu Yiru got her inside the house, her phone rang.
After hanging up, Xu Yiru looked apologetic: “I’m so sorry, Linlang. The hospital has an emergency. I have to leave right away. But don’t worry, the house has plenty of first aid supplies, and Yanyang knows nursing; she can take care of you.”
Xu Yiru spoke quickly and hurried out, as if an extra second was a luxury.
Gu Linlang couldn’t stop her and could only watch her quickly disappear out the door like a gust of wind. What she didn’t notice was that Xu Yiru had subtly winked at Qi Wanyang before closing the door.
Qi Wanyang smiled faintly, watching Xu Yiru leave. She knew her cousin was tactfully creating an opportunity for her to be alone with Gu Linlang.
The room suddenly fell silent. Gu Linlang uncomfortably limped toward the door: “Then I’ll leave too.”
“If you don’t want your leg to be too swollen to walk tomorrow, sit down obediently,” Qi Wanyang said without looking up, turning to enter the study.
Although Gu Linlang had promised Xu Yiru that she would regularly go to the hospital for heart checkups, she didn’t want to go to the hospital unnecessarily. She cursed Qi Wanyang—that cunning, scheming fox—for always using her weakness to threaten her.
But despite her anger, she ultimately sat down obediently on the sofa.
