Chapter 20: 020 She Cupped the Back of Her Head and Deepened the…
Qi Wanyang was tired from a long day of travel. She casually ran her fingers through her slightly tangled hair, thinking she should take a shower to refresh herself.
“Don’t you want to go back and take a shower first?” Qi Wanyang turned to Gu Linlang.
Gu Linlang was sprawled lazily on the sofa. “I’ll go back after I’ve applied your ointment. Are you sure you don’t need any more ice?”
Hearing Gu Linlang remember the ice treatment so clearly, Qi Wanyang couldn’t help but smile. “My injury isn’t that serious; no need for the ice. Just the ointment will do.” With that, she entered the bathroom.
Knowing Gu Linlang was waiting outside, Qi Wanyang abandoned her plans for a hot spring soak and took a quick shower before preparing to come out.
Gu Linlang wandered around the room out of boredom.
This room was more spacious than other hot spring inns she had stayed at, though the decor style was largely similar.
The only difference was the surrounding mountains. Pushing open the window, she was greeted by the mountain breeze, carrying the fresh scent of grass and trees.
The distant mountain silhouettes were faint in the darkness, like a washed-out ink painting.
Gu Linlang took out her phone, snapped a few photos, and sent them to the family chat to let them know she was safe.
Before long, her dad, mom, and brother all appeared in the chat. The corners of Gu Linlang’s mouth lifted unconsciously as she rapidly typed replies, chatting happily with her family.
Suddenly, a rhythmic, pleasant drumbeat drifted up from the cherry blossom garden downstairs. Gu Linlang curiously leaned out the window to look down.
She saw Kanako dancing gracefully in a kimono beneath the cherry trees. Her sleeves fluttered like a light butterfly.
Her wife, Rimi, sat nearby, gently tapping a small drum, watching her with a smile in her eyes.
Their movements were as natural and harmonious as breathing. Gu Linlang watched in a trance, feeling a faint sense of envy.
Gu Linlang wasn’t completely unfamiliar with the lesbian community. After all, her idol, pop diva Liang Ruochu, was married to the cold actress Liang Muxin, wasn’t she? Weibo had crashed when they got married.
But she had never actually seen a lesbian couple in real life.
The sight of two beautiful women affectionately gazing at each other was strangely captivating.
Gu Linlang, on a whim, pulled out her phone and typed “lesbian couple” into the search bar.
A flood of CPs popped up: from anime, the entertainment industry, and ordinary real-life couples—all sickeningly sweet.
As she scrolled, she suddenly thought of Qi Wanyang.
The girl who was as quiet and cute as a porcelain doll when she was little, and the woman who was now sometimes cunning and sometimes charming…
Gu Linlang belatedly realized that she seemed to have never truly understood Qi Wanyang.
“What are you looking at?” A voice suddenly whispered next to her, startling Gu Linlang so much that her phone nearly flew out of her hand.
She looked down. The screen was frozen on an image of two women kissing, and her ears immediately flushed hot.
“Ah… haha, just scrolling randomly. The algorithm recommendations are getting increasingly ridiculous,” she chuckled dryly, then immediately felt her reaction was a little over the top.
Homosexuality is just like heterosexuality; they’re all dating. Kissing is normal in a relationship, isn’t it? Why was she feeling guilty?
“Ahem, seriously though, love between girls is quite beautiful, like Rimi and Kanako. It looks quite enviable.”
“You feel envious?” Qi Wanyang, wrapped in a bathrobe, stood beside Gu Linlang. Her peach-blossom eyes flashed with an ambiguous light. She stared intently at Gu Linlang, as if trying to read something in her expression.
Gu Linlang cleared her throat: “I think everyone envies beautiful love, whether it’s heterosexual or homosexual. But as for intimate contact…” She paused. “Girls and girls might be more appealing. After all, a girl’s lips look softer.”
As she spoke, her gaze involuntarily fell on Qi Wanyang’s lips, which were inches away.
Qi Wanyang’s lips were beautifully shaped and pink, like freshly picked cherries. Gu Linlang thought, kissing them must be soft and sweet.
Realizing what she was thinking, Gu Linlang abruptly snapped back to reality. She quickly shook her head, trying to chase away the chaotic images in her mind.
Qi Wanyang eyed her suspiciously and raised an eyebrow: “What exactly are you thinking? Do you want to kiss a girl?”
The question instantly brought back the images that had flashed in her mind, and Gu Linlang’s face flushed crimson.
She stammered in defense: “Who, who wants to… Fine, so what if I do! Can’t a person be curious? I just think kissing a girl might be more comfortable and sweeter. Don’t you think so?”
As she talked, she suddenly remembered when Qi Wanyang had kissed her in the car to give her medicine, the kind where the tongue was involved.
No, that was purely just feeding medicine. It doesn’t count as a kiss, right? She suddenly became genuinely curious. “Since we’re out on vacation anyway, I think I could try it…”
Qi Wanyang narrowed her eyes: “Try what?” Her tone carried a hint of danger, but Gu Linlang was completely oblivious.
“Tokyo has lots of those kinds of places, and there must be lesbian bars, too. If I meet a cute…” Before she could finish, her mouth was suddenly covered.
Gu Linlang’s eyes widened. She stared at Qi Wanyang close up. The complex emotions swirling in those peach-blossom eyes were incomprehensible to her. Then, her lip stung. Qi Wanyang had actually bitten her.
It didn’t hurt, but the tingly, electric sensation instantly made Gu Linlang stiffen. Her heart hammered so fast it felt like it would burst out, the only sound in her ears was a loud thump-thump.
Qi Wanyang never thought she would lose control and kiss her, even biting her out of annoyance.
But the moment she recalled the reckless things Gu Linlang had just said, she felt this “punishment” wasn’t nearly satisfying enough.
She looked up at Gu Linlang, finding her red-faced and frozen, neither pushing her away nor showing disgust.
A wave of emotion surged through Qi Wanyang’s heart. She couldn’t help but lean in again, gently covering Gu Linlang’s lips with her own.
This time, she deliberately cupped the back of Gu Linlang’s head and slowly deepened the kiss.
Gu Linlang’s mind was blank. She should push Qi Wanyang away, but the other woman’s lips were exactly as soft and sweet as she had imagined, and she couldn’t bear to break away.
She just stood there dumbly, completely unsure what to do.
Qi Wanyang sensed Gu Linlang’s stiffness and confusion, and suddenly felt a little flat.
She knew she might have been too hasty. Reluctantly, she pulled away from those two soft lips.
But Gu Linlang’s earlier words still echoed in her ears, prompting her to be direct: “Gu Linlang, if you truly want to kiss a woman, you can only find me.”
That sentence seemed to flip a switch. Gu Linlang’s eyes suddenly lit up, like stars suddenly igniting in the night sky.
Qi Wanyang was shaken by her sudden intense gaze and instinctively retreated, but Gu Linlang took a big step forward. She grabbed Qi Wanyang’s arm and pushed her directly onto the windowsill.
