Chapter 6: 006 “Could It Be That Person Has A Crush On Me?”
Seeing Gu Linlang’s eyes fixed on the gem bracelet, Xu Yiru couldn’t resist teasing, “Well, Linlang, do you still want to refuse this gift?”
Gu Linlang carefully held the bracelet, as if it were some rare treasure: “How could I refuse such an expensive gift? Sister Yiru, please tell that friend that I absolutely love this gift and I’m truly grateful to them. If it’s convenient, they are welcome to come and see me anytime~”
Xu Yiru gave a cheerful OK sign, secretly winking at Qi Wanyang. She hadn’t expected her cousin’s gift to make this young lady so happy.
“Alright, mission complete, time for me to go. I won’t bother you two anymore. Have a good night~” Xu Yiru recalled the sight of the two of them hugging earlier, and her tone was full of playful innuendo. Gu Linlang blushed again, thinking about staying overnight at Qi Wanyang’s house.
Qi Wanyang calmly waved: “Thanks, cousin. Goodnight.”
“Sister Yiru, thank you for your trouble. Goodnight,” Gu Linlang said goodbye as well.
After seeing Xu Yiru off, the two got into the car. The driver skillfully started the car and slowly drove out of the hospital.
Outside, the wind was howling, and lightning flashed with thunder. But this didn’t affect Gu Linlang’s good mood at all; her attention was entirely focused on the “Tears of the Deep Sea” bracelet.
But why was the clasp on this bracelet so hard to secure? She tried several times without success.
Qi Wanyang, who was sending her last text message nearby, turned her head to look at her, the corner of her lips curling slightly: “Need help, Miss Gu?”
Gu Linlang pouted. Though reluctant, Qi Wanyang was the only one in the car who could help her right now. Of course, she would never know that Qi Wanyang had specially designed the bracelet’s clasp to make it difficult for the wearer to put it on by themselves.
Even though she couldn’t personally gift it to Gu Linlang, Qi Wanyang still hoped to personally put it on her.
“Then I’ll trouble you, President Qi,” Gu Linlang handed the bracelet over, not forgetting to exaggeratedly caution her: “Be careful! This is priceless treasure; if you break it, you can’t afford to pay for it.”
Qi Wanyang couldn’t help but smile. This gem bracelet was indeed priceless; she had gone to great lengths to acquire these gems. But seeing how much Gu Linlang liked it, it was all worth it. “Don’t worry, Miss Gu.”
Qi Wanyang seriously helped Gu Linlang put on the bracelet. Gu Linlang watched intently. The clasp was cleverly designed; it really couldn’t be put on without help. But Qi Wanyang’s calm demeanor regarding this invaluable gift made Gu Linlang feel that something was missing.
“President Qi, do you know the legend of the ‘Tears of the Deep Sea’?” Once it was secured, Gu Linlang admired the magnificent gems on the bracelet, completely captivated.
“I’ve heard a little,” Qi Wanyang also looked at the deep blue gems, a hint of tenderness flashing in her eyes.
“Just heard a little? How can you only hear a little?” Gu Linlang grew excited and began to talk non-stop. “The legend says these are the tears shed by the Sea God’s daughter for her true love. Her tears condensed the essence of the ocean, shining with a mysterious light. Every night, when the moonlight shines on the sea, you can faintly see the Tears of the Deep Sea sparkling in the waves, like stars falling into the ocean. It’s said to be hidden in the turbulent waves, and only the destined person can find it. It’s not just beautiful; it also has magical power. The person wearing it will gain wisdom and courage, and can turn danger into safety. Most importantly, it can protect true love, ensuring that two people who love each other will stay together no matter what they go through.”
As Gu Linlang spoke, her eyes sparkled. She couldn’t believe that after all this time, she was still moved by this story. She had actually found this story in a picture book among her mother’s belongings. It was an old book with signs of age, which her mother reportedly bought locally during an overseas trip and brought back especially as a gift for her.
Because she couldn’t cope with her mother’s sudden death, Gu Linlang’s memories before the age of six were very hazy. But every time she opened this book, she could remember her mother telling her stories. For some reason, she was particularly fond of this story and still remembered it clearly. When she grew up, she even entrusted people to search for this legendary gem.
Qi Wanyang listened quietly, her heart stirring. Of course, she knew the story of the Tears of the Deep Sea—no less than Gu Linlang. A few years ago, when she heard Gu Linlang was looking for this kind of gem, she also asked people to inquire around. By chance, she found it first and decided to make it into a unique bracelet to give to her. Seeing how much Gu Linlang liked it now, Qi Wanyang smiled gently and nodded: “That story sounds very romantic.”
Gu Linlang stroked her chin, a playful look on her face: “It certainly is romantic. You know, sending me such a valuable gift, could it be that person has a crush on me? I wonder what kind of person they are?”
She said this deliberately, wanting to make Qi Wanyang jealous. Unexpectedly, Qi Wanyang countered: “If someone is truly secretly in love with you, would this Tears of the Deep Sea be enough to win over our Miss Gu?”
Gu Linlang raised an eyebrow, a vague figure appearing in her mind. She said with interest: “Maybe. As long as the man isn’t married and the woman isn’t married, who knows?”
Qi Wanyang suddenly asked: “You think the person who sent you the bracelet must be a man?”
Gu Linlang clearly paused, then laughed out loud: “Ha? Are you saying a girl has a crush on me?” She tilted her head, thought for a moment, “But same-s3x marriage is legal now, and if a girl is to my liking, there’s nothing wrong with that, either.”
Qi Wanyang’s lips unconsciously curved up: “Miss Gu is indeed broad-minded.” She secretly let out a sigh of relief, hoping that on the day she confessed, Gu Linlang would truly be as accepting as she was now.
Having received this unexpected grand gift, Gu Linlang was in high spirits all the way. But when she walked into Qi Wanyang’s small villa, she was dumbfounded.
Although the three-story villa was exquisitely designed, it was practically empty inside, with pitifully few pieces of furniture. There wasn’t even a sofa in the living room, and the master bedroom had only one lonely bed.
Qi Wanyang smiled as if nothing was wrong: “Sorry, Linlang, I forgot that the house isn’t furnished yet. I’m afraid you’ll have to rough it tonight.”
Gu Linlang looked at her, speechless: “Then where do I sleep?”
The two stood at the master bedroom door. Qi Wanyang looked at the spacious bed: “This bed is 1.8 meters wide, more than enough for two people. If Miss Gu doesn’t mind…”
“I mind!” Gu Linlang immediately made a big X sign, frowning. “Forget it, let Uncle Jian take me to a hotel.”
Qi Wanyang chuckled: “Uncle Jian left long ago. And this area is remote. With the thunder and rain outside right now, getting a taxi won’t be easy. Are you sure you want to go out?”
As soon as she finished speaking, a flash of lightning struck, followed by deafening thunder. Gu Linlang jumped in fear, forcing herself not to lunge into Qi Wanyang’s arms.
Qi Wanyang asked with concern: “Are you okay?”
Gu Linlang didn’t want to show weakness in front of her rival. She put her hands on her hips to bolster her courage: “Hmph, I can adapt to anything. Staying in your humble house for one night is nothing! But I’m not sleeping with you. I’m sleeping on the floor tonight! Where’s the bathroom?”
Qi Wanyang smiled and pointed to several bathrooms: “They all work, toiletries are fully stocked, and the nightgown is in the cabinet.”
“Got it!” Gu Linlang turned and walked away, as if staying for another second was unbearable. Qi Wanyang looked at her hurried back, the corner of her mouth curving into a smile: “Do you really think I’d let you sleep on the floor?”
Qi Wanyang had just returned to the country today, so the villa had little furniture to begin with. In the car earlier, the text message Qi Wanyang sent was to instruct the servants to move out the last remaining sofa and the guest room bed, leaving no spare bedding. To avoid giving anything away, they also moved some other furniture. Although the servants found it strange, they complied. Qi Wanyang told them to leave after they finished moving, which is why Gu Linlang didn’t see anyone.
Gu Linlang simply assumed that Qi Wanyang had just returned to the country and hadn’t fully furnished the place yet. But what she didn’t know was that the “surprise” Qi Wanyang had prepared was not limited to just that.
Gu Linlang chose a bathroom with a bathtub. Soaking in the hot water, she completely relaxed. Closing her eyes, the scene before her death in the previous life kept flashing back in her mind: the desperate suffocating feeling in the restroom, the murderer’s malicious curses, and all the encounters with Qi Wanyang since her rebirth.
The more she thought, the more confused she became: Why did the System choose Qi Wanyang to be her life-saving benefactor? Who was the person who harmed her in the previous life? Would they reappear in this life? Unfortunately, her consciousness was blurred at the time; she only remembered someone cursing her but couldn’t even tell if it was a man or a woman.
These questions were giving her a headache, so Gu Linlang simply called out the System.
The System was unusually talkative: “Host, because Qi Wanyang is the only person you know who was born in the same year, same month, and same day as you. Your life patterns are compatible, and only a close relationship can save your life. As for the murderer, they will probably reappear, but it should be about a year from now. As long as you quickly accumulate 10,000 Love Value to exchange for a healthy heart, you won’t have to worry about anyone laying a poisonous hand on you.”
Gu Linlang considered this and thought it made sense. If she exchanged for a healthy heart sooner, she wouldn’t have to worry about being framed with poisoned medicine.
Gu Linlang took a deep breath, trying to force herself to accept the intimate interactions with Qi Wanyang. Slowly, she actually began to find Qi Wanyang wasn’t as hateful as she had imagined.
However, when Gu Linlang finished her bath and put on the nightgown from the cabinet, the little bit of goodwill she had managed to gather for Qi Wanyang instantly vanished. This nightgown was far too revealing! The thin spaghetti straps looked like they’d snap with a tug, the hem was so short it barely covered her thighs, and her chest was at risk of exposure at any moment! That smelly fox Qi Wanyang was trying to trick her again!
“Qi Wanyang! Get out here!” Gu Linlang rushed up to the third floor, pounding on the bedroom door violently.
A short while later, Qi Wanyang opened the door, a subtle smile hanging on her lips: “The door wasn’t locked. You can come in anytime.”
“Who wants to enter your bedroom?” Gu Linlang tugged at the nightgown on her, looking displeased. “Look at this outfit, what’s the difference between wearing it and not wearing it?”
“It’s been so hot lately, almost like summer. This is what I wear. How much more do you want to cover up?” Qi Wanyang leaned against the doorframe, her gaze unashamedly sweeping over Gu Linlang’s body. Although they were the same age, Qi Wanyang was half a head taller than Gu Linlang. Looking down like this, her view was completely unobstructed. The corner of her mouth lifted: “Haven’t seen you in a few years, but you’ve certainly ‘progressed’ quite a bit.”
Gu Linlang immediately understood the double meaning in her words and quickly shielded her chest: “Bastard, where are you looking!”
