The Movie Queen Confesses to Me on Weibo Everyday - Chapter 10
Lu Qiyue lowered her head without answering.
Of course, she knew Ruan Xingchen would be unhappy.
But she was even more afraid of losing control over herself.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Seeing Lu Qiyue remain silent, Ruan Xingchen frowned. After a long pause, she asked, “Is it because of my Weibo posts?”
Lu Qiyue didn’t deny it. She finally looked up at Ruan Xingchen on the video call and brought up the past again. “Your Weibo… you should delete those posts. The things people say… they’re awful. It’s not good for you.”
“I’m not afraid,” Ruan Xingchen replied. “Besides… would deleting them really stop them from talking? Yueyue, I’ve already made it public that I love you. Some things are unavoidable.”
“I’m sorry. I was selfish, using Weibo to pressure you. But… I couldn’t bear another six years.”
“So, give yourself a little more courage, and give me a little more confidence, okay?”
“Yueyue, when we broke up six years ago… I wanted to die.”
“That’s right, that’s right! Brother-in-law, Sister Chen had depression back then. Several times, she almost—” Song Yang, recalling the sleepless nights when she first started working for Ruan Xingchen, still felt a chill run down her spine.
“Song Yang.” Ruan Xingchen quickly glanced at her and shook her head slightly.
She didn’t want Lu Qiyue to feel guilty.
But Lu Qiyue had already heard.
Depression? Xingchen had suffered from… depression?
Was it when she had broken up with her?
Lu Qiyue was stunned.
She had always thought Ruan Xingchen would be better off after their breakup. Ruan Xingchen’s success over the past six years had only reinforced her belief that she had made the right decision. But was the truth really like this?
Depression, insomnia… Were there other things she didn’t know about?
Lu Qiyue trembled, her mind in chaos.
Suddenly, she desperately wanted to see Ruan Xingchen in person. She needed to ask—how much had she kept from her? How much pain had she caused her in the past?
“Ruan Xingchen…”
“Sister Chen, the car’s here.” A black MPV pulled up in front of them, and Song Yang whispered.
Ruan Xingchen nodded slightly, then turned back to the screen with a faint smile. “This business trip won’t be long—just two days. Yueyue, let’s meet again in two days.”
With that, she ended the call and handed the phone back to Song Yang.
Once in the car, Ruan Xingchen leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes to rest.
“Sister Chen, did I… say something wrong just now?” Song Yang asked softly, noticing Ruan Xingchen’s low spirits.
“No,” Ruan Xingchen opened her eyes and shook her head. “I’m just being hard on myself.”
She hadn’t wanted Yueyue to know about her depression, yet she had used insomnia as an excuse to deceive her. Ruan Xingchen felt disgustingly hypocritical.
Song Yang let out a quiet “oh,” then looked at Ruan Xingchen in confusion. “Sister Chen, there’s something I don’t really understand.”
“Six years ago, it took you so much effort to pull yourself out of that darkness. Why are you willingly stepping back into it now? Even if you’re a woman who loves women, Sister Zhang has a point—there are plenty of people in our circle who are more outstanding than Brother-in-law. You have… a lot of options.”
There were many choices, yet she was the only one who made my heart flutter. Ruan Xingchen smiled lightly and replied, “Perhaps because it was my sister’s first love? Or maybe because we’re both single now?”
If she were married when they met again, she wouldn’t seek her out. If someone else was by her side, she wouldn’t interfere either. But now—she was single.
Not only single, but despite being a dance instructor, she never partnered with any man—or even any woman—outside of group performances.
For six years, she’d held onto that casual remark from their time together: “You can only be my dance partner.”
She clearly hadn’t fallen for someone else when they broke up.
She was just afraid—timid, fearful, and also… because she loved her.
Ruan Xingchen regretted how foolish she’d been six years ago. This time, she’d keep the initiative firmly in her grasp. She wouldn’t let her escape again.
At Lu Qiyue’s home, just as Ruan Xingchen’s call ended, another came through.
It was Ji Yuchen.
“Yuchen, you’re still up this late?” Lu Qiyue asked, somewhat distracted.
She’d thought it might be Ruan Xingchen calling back.
“Aren’t you awake too?” Ji Yuchen struggled to contain her excitement. “Yueyue, be honest with me—do you know my Chen-jie? That dining table and cutlery in her Weibo post today are identical to what I saw at your place last time! You must know her, right? The ‘Lu Qiyue’ in her post is you, isn’t it?”
“Ahhh! My best friend is actually dating my idol?! This kind of heavenly blessing actually happened to me?! Oh my god, this is unbelievable!”
Lu Qiyue: “…”
Was this even a question? Yuchen had clearly already confirmed the answer—she just needed someone to share her joy with.
Lu Qiyue waited quietly until Ji Yuchen’s excitement finally subsided.
Thinking of Ruan Xingchen’s Weibo post, a bold possibility suddenly struck Ji Yuchen.
“Wait, Yueyue… you didn’t actually reject Chen-jie’s confession, did you?”
Lu Qiyue gave a soft hum, instantly provoking an intense reaction.
“Yueyue, why?! Chen-jie is perfect—she’s accomplished, domestic, and among women—no, even among men, few could compare! How could you bear to turn down someone like that?”
At this moment, Ji Yuchen wished she could possess her friend’s body just to accept the proposal on her behalf.
As Ruan Xingchen’s die-hard fan, Ji Yuchen’s adoration for her surpassed even that for her parents and husband. Lu Qiyue had always assumed such obsessive fans would be possessive of their idols, but…
Pressing her lips together, Lu Qiyue voiced the concern weighing on her heart: “Yuchen… you don’t mind that she has feelings for someone? And that… it’s a woman.”
The ‘she’ was undoubtedly Ruan Xingchen—so this was why her friend had refused?
Ji Yuchen immediately straightened up, realizing she needed to clarify things for her friend.
“Yueyue, first of all, as fans, we’re genuinely happy that Sister Chen has found someone she likes. After being single for so long, it’s not easy for her to meet someone special, and we fans should give our blessings. Of course, there might be some extreme individuals who think Sister Chen belongs to them alone and try to stir up trouble—you can simply ignore those people. Secondly, regarding the fact that the person Sister Chen likes happens to be another woman, we loyal fans actually see nothing unacceptable about it. Love is love, after all. Sister Chen just happens to love someone of the same gender—there’s nothing wrong with love itself. As long as she’s happy, what difference does it make whether it’s a man or a woman?!”
“You have no idea how much we loyal fans admire Sister Chen’s courage in pursuing love.”
