The Movie Queen Confesses to Me on Weibo Everyday - Chapter 19
In the corridor outside the office, Lu Qiyue and Yin Bailu stood facing each other, gazing out the window when Yin Bailu spoke first: “I like Xingchen.”
Lu Qiyue was taken aback—she hadn’t expected Yin Bailu to say this to her.
Her heart immediately ached. Was this doctor Yin telling her this to make her give up on Ruan Xingchen?
“Xingchen and I… we don’t have any special relationship,” Lu Qiyue murmured, her head lowered and voice barely audible.
She desperately wanted to declare loudly to the woman before her that she and Ruan Xingchen were lovers, but the truth was their current relationship remained undefined.
For the first time, Lu Qiyue regretted not accepting Ruan Xingchen’s repeated confessions.
Now… she had no ground to stand on when facing this rival.
Yin Bailu gave a light laugh. “I think you’ve misunderstood, Miss Lu.”
“I do like Xingchen, but Xingchen… likes you,” she said casually, though a fleeting regret passed through her eyes.
Yes, she loved Ruan Xingchen, but Ruan Xingchen’s heart belonged to someone else.
“Miss Lu, my purpose in speaking with you alone is simple—I just want you to know how exceptional and devoted Xingchen is. As someone who cares for her, I want her happiness, which lies with you. I’ve been following the situation on Weibo, and I’ve never understood why you hesitate. You… have feelings for her too, don’t you?”
“Miss Lu, I’m also a deeply devoted person. I admit I can’t win Xingchen’s heart now, but what about in ten or twenty years? I hope you won’t give me that opportunity.”
Lu Qiyue stared blankly at Yin Bailu, never imagining these would be the words from the woman she considered a love rival.
“You…”
“What? Did you think I came to declare war?” Yin Bailu seemed amused.
Pursing her lips, Lu Qiyue had indeed thought exactly that.
Maintaining her gentle smile as if having made peace with herself, Yin Bailu said lightly, “If we can’t be lovers, being friends is good too.”
“See? Now Xingchen and I are good friends.”
“Well then, I need to prepare for your father’s surgery.” With a nod, Yin Bailu turned and left.
Lu Qiyue didn’t know how long she stood there before Ruan Xingchen’s call startled her back to reality.
“Hello, A-Ruan…”
“Yueyue, what’s wrong?” Hearing the odd tone in Lu Qiyue’s voice, Ruan Xingchen frowned immediately. “Did you meet with Sister Yin?”
“Is Uncle’s surgery… very risky?” she asked.
Lu Qiyue shook her head, then remembering Ruan Xingchen couldn’t see her, said, “No, Doctor Yin is very confident about the surgery. It’s… something else.”
“Something else?”
Ruan Xingchen’s frown deepened. Could it be trouble from the Lu family?
“Yueyue, can you tell me about it?” came the soothing, gentle inquiry.
Out of habit, Lu Qiyue pressed her lips together. Regarding Yin Bailu, she knew she had no right to question Ruan Xingchen. Yet the seed of jealousy kept taking root and growing. Unable to hold back, she finally asked: “Doctor Yin… likes you, doesn’t she?”
On the other end of the phone, Ruan Xingchen panicked upon hearing Lu Qiyue’s words and hurriedly explained, “Yueyue, believe me, Sister Yin and I are just good friends, we…”
“I know, Dr. Yin already told me,” Lu Qiyue replied in a subdued tone.
“It’s just that…” Lu Qiyue pressed her lips tightly together. She was simply throwing a tantrum with herself.
Ruan Xingchen understood what Lu Qiyue meant.
The earlier panic instantly vanished, replaced by a voice thick with amusement as Ruan Xingchen said, “I know, you’re just… jealous.”
Lu Qiyue was immediately angered by the laughter.
“Who’s jealous? I’m not even anything to you,” Lu Qiyue huffed indignantly.
The more vehement Lu Qiyue’s reaction, the more Ruan Xingchen laughed.
Finally, Lu Qiyue was so infuriated that she hung up the phone, cutting off Ruan Xingchen’s laughter.
Holding the disconnected phone, Ruan Xingchen couldn’t wipe the smile from her lips. She softly whispered the words that had risen to her heart: “So Yueyue, will you agree to be my girlfriend?”
After hanging up, Lu Qiyue felt her face burning with heat. She stood by the window for a long while, letting the cool breeze soothe her, before going to find her mother and Lu Qiyue.
Her mother and Lu Qiyue had been waiting anxiously.
As soon as they saw her, Lu Qiyue quickly stood up and asked urgently, “Sis, did you pay for Dad’s medical expenses?”
Lu Qiyue nodded. “Yes.”
“Oh, good.” After speaking, Lu Qiyue noticed his sister’s complicated gaze and hastily added, “I mean, Dad hasn’t woken up yet, and if the doctors kicked him out…”
Lu Qiyue couldn’t be bothered to listen to his flimsy excuses—he was clearly just afraid of having to pay.
She turned to her mother and said, “Mom, Dad needs surgery. It’ll be scheduled as soon as possible, and I’ll cover the cost.”
Her mother hesitated, glancing at her son, but ultimately said nothing.
By evening, Lu Qiyue’s father finally woke up. The moment he saw her, his emotions flared, his furious eyes glaring at her.
“You… get out.”
“My Lu family… has no shameful daughter like you.”
Though she had long known her father’s stance on her loving women, Lu Qiyue couldn’t suppress the sorrow welling up inside her.
“Dad, is it wrong to love someone?”
Disappointed, she turned and left the room.
She didn’t go far, instead sitting down on a bench in the hallway outside the ward.
This was the first time she had spoken her heart to her father.
But she knew—given his prideful nature—she might never get another chance.
Lost in thought, staring at her phone, she suddenly missed Ruan Xingchen terribly.
Inside the ward, Lu Qiyue still wanted to defend his sister—as long as money wasn’t involved.
Watching his mother whisper pleas into his father’s ear, he couldn’t help but speak up. “Dad, if Sis likes that actress, just let her. Isn’t it said, ‘Better to tear down a temple than break up a marriage’? These days, women loving women isn’t even strange anymore. Besides, Ruan Xingchen isn’t just any celebrity—she’s a big name in the industry. If she could bring me into showbiz later, wouldn’t our family have a star of its own?”
The more he thought about it, the more excited he became.
If he becomes a celebrity, would he ever lack money again? Cars, houses—wouldn’t they be his for the taking whenever he wanted?
Lu Qiye thought his argument was perfectly reasonable, but to his surprise, as soon as he finished speaking, his father roared at him, “Useless waste! Get out of my sight too!”
