The Movie Queen Confesses to Me on Weibo Everyday - Chapter 25
“Ruan, prepare a confession. Even if it’s a reunion, there should be a sense of ceremony.”
Inside the car, Ruan Xingchen was seething with anger, her oppressive aura making Song Yang afraid to even breathe too loudly.
What’s wrong with Sister Chen? Was she unsatisfied last night? So scary.
Meanwhile, Lu Qiyue seemed completely unaffected by the heavy atmosphere, casually scrolling through her phone?!
Song Yang glanced between her boss and Lu Qiyue, the flames of gossip burning brightly in her eyes.
“So… brother-in-law, you and Sister Chen… last night… slept well?” Not daring to provoke Ruan Xingchen, Song Yang redirected her curiosity to the safer target.
Lu Qiyue looked up with a light smile, “We slept very well indeed.”
She certainly had slept well—waking up at dawn. As for A’Ruan… Lu Qiyue peeked at Ruan Xingchen’s stormy expression. Whether her A’Ruan had slept well was another matter.
The resentment seemed quite deep.
Lu Qiyue was secretly delighted.
She’d nearly agreed to reconcile with A’Ruan too casually yesterday. The confession six years ago had been her initiative—this time, Ruan Xingchen needed to take the lead.
Of course, this wasn’t why Ruan Xingchen was angry. The real reason was… she’d stood her up last night, using their undefined relationship status as reason to spend the night as purely platonic roommates.
“But Sister Chen seems…” Song Yang suspected Lu Qiyue might be lying, given Ruan Xingchen’s current state hardly suggested a good night’s sleep.
“Brother-in-law, when I say ‘sleep,’ I mean the other kind of sleep. Sister Chen looks like…” Thinking her question might have been too vague, Song Yang tried rephrasing more directly.
Before she could finish, Song Yang felt a sudden chill down her spine. Turning, she met Ruan Xingchen’s icy glare.
“I look like what?” Ruan Xingchen asked coldly.
“Like… like… like my sister-in-law who’s married to Yueyue!” Song Yang’s mind raced, her survival instincts conjuring up this brilliant response.
After this, Song Yang dared not pry further, sitting ramrod straight with her eyes fixed forward, posture more proper than a kindergarten student.
The ten-minute ride felt like hours to Song Yang. Though Ruan Xingchen’s murderous aura had slightly abated after her comment, it remained terrifying enough.
At the hospital, Lu Qiyue visibly tensed.
“Let’s go. Uncle will be entering surgery in ten minutes,” Ruan Xingchen said, temporarily setting aside her intimidating demeanor to become gentle and considerate again.
She exited first, then extended her hand to Lu Qiyue.
Holding Ruan Xingchen’s hand, Lu Qiyue’s nervousness eased somewhat.
After several deep breaths at the hospital entrance, they walked hand in hand inside.
All three members of the Lu family were waiting outside the operating room.
As surgery time approached, Father Lu’s gaze drifted toward the elevator—no sign of the person he hoped to see. He sighed inwardly.
Perhaps it’s better she didn’t come. It meant that Ruan Xingchen had taken his words to heart.
“Old man, you…” Being his lifelong partner, Mother Lu immediately noticed her husband’s low spirits. Just as she was about to ask, Father Lu interrupted her.
“Wait here with Lu Qiye when I go in. Don’t worry—it’s just a minor surgery. I’ve been through countless storms in my life; nothing will go wrong.”
“And you, Lu Qiye…” Father Lu turned to his son with a look of exasperation, “Take good care of your mother, or I’ll break your legs.”
Under his father’s fierce glare, Lu Qiye shrank back and obediently replied, “I understand, Dad.”
“It’s time. Let’s go in,” the nurse said after Father Lu finished speaking.
Mother Lu nodded and reluctantly released her grip on Father Lu’s hand. Spotting Yin Bailu in surgical scrubs preparing to enter the operating room, she quickly called out, “Doctor, please take good care of my husband.”
Yin Bailu nodded. “Don’t worry.”
“Dr. Yin.”
Ruan Xingchen and Lu Qiyue finally arrived.
Approaching Yin Bailu, Ruan Xingchen removed her face mask and smiled. “First, I wish you a successful surgery. After you’re done, I’ll treat you to a nice meal.”
Yin Bailu smiled back. “Sounds good. I won’t stand on ceremony then.”
With a nod to Ruan Xingchen, she entered the operating room.
As soon as Ruan Xingchen finished speaking with Yin Bailu, Lu Qiye sidled up to Lu Qiyue.
“Sis, you’re finally here! Without you, Mom and I felt completely lost. We were so scared!” He patted his chest in relief, his face clearly expressing how glad he was she had come.
Mother Lu, perhaps remembering Father Lu’s words, sat down in a spot farther away from Lu Qiyue, her eyes frequently darting to the operating room doors.
Lu Qiyue ignored Lu Qiye. She glanced at her mother, then at Ruan Xingchen. “Ah Ruan, I—”
“Go talk with her for a while. She must be very worried and nervous right now,” Ruan Xingchen encouraged with a smile and a nod.
Only then did Lu Qiyue walk over to Mother Lu. She didn’t say anything, simply sitting quietly beside her.
Yet even this small gesture was enough for Mother Lu. Her eyes welled up with tears. She couldn’t understand why her husband had driven their daughter away. Wouldn’t it be better to keep her close? Like now—just having her sit nearby eased some of the fear in her heart.
As for liking women… maybe her son had a point.
But Mother Lu had spent her whole life obeying Father Lu’s words. Even if she had her own thoughts, she still chose to follow her husband’s lead.
The surgery lasted a full four hours. By the time the operating room light turned off and Father Lu was wheeled out, the waiting family felt as though an eternity had passed.
Mother Lu was the first to rush to Father Lu’s side, followed closely by Lu Qiyue, leaving Lu Qiye in third place.
Fresh from surgery, Father Lu looked terrible—his face deathly pale, as if he were on the verge of dying. The sight frightened Lu Qiye, who blurted out, “Is Dad still alive? The surgery didn’t fail, did it?”
“Xiao Ye, what nonsense are you talking? Your dad is fine, he must be fine.” Mother Lu spoke with firm conviction while casting her gaze toward Yin Bailu, who had emerged with Father Lu. “Doctor, how is my husband…”
“He’s alive. The surgery was successful. Please follow the nurse to take him to the recovery room,” Yin Bailu replied, exhaustion evident on her face.
Finally hearing the words she longed for, Mother Lu exhaled in relief, a smile breaking through. “Thank you, doctor.”
She then took Lu Qiye by the hand and followed the nurse, sparing only a glance at Lu Qiyue without saying a word.
“Sister Yin, thank you,” Ruan Xingchen said sincerely.
Coming to her senses, Lu Qiyue quickly added her gratitude, “Thank you, Dr. Yin.”
Yin Bailu looked at the two before her. After telling Ruan Xingchen not to mention it, she turned her gaze to Lu Qiyue with a smile. “It seems Miss Lu is quite rational after all, having made the right choice.”
“Looks like I’ve completely lost my chance,” Yin Bailu remarked while shaking her head, her eyes openly revealing regret.
Considering Yin Bailu had just operated on her father, Lu Qiyue pressed her lips together and chose not to respond to the self-deprecating comment.
Ruan Xingchen, however, sighed helplessly. “Sister Yin, I’ve always seen you as my own elder sister.”
Yin Bailu chuckled softly. An elder sister—unfortunately, not what she had hoped for.
But so be it. As long as Ruan Xingchen was happy, why dwell on anything else?
“Alright, I’m tired after four hours of surgery. I’ll go change and rest at the hotel for a bit. Didn’t you say you’d treat me to dinner? Send me the location later; I’ll make my own way there.”
“No need, I’ll have the driver pick you up,” Ruan Xingchen offered.
Yin Bailu raised an eyebrow but didn’t refuse again.
After Yin Bailu left, it was time for Ruan Xingchen and Lu Qiyue to go as well, but…
Ruan Xingchen glanced at Lu Qiyue, noticing the lingering worry between her brows. Knowing what troubled her, she spoke up, “Let’s go see your father one more time.”
Lu Qiyue wavered but ultimately shook her head.
“No… I’ve already been cast out of the Lu family. He… probably doesn’t want to see me again,” Lu Qiyue murmured sorrowfully, biting her lip.
“Ah Xing, I’ve never seen him look so weak before.” The sight of Father Lu being wheeled out of the operating room had nearly brought her to tears.
Like any father in his daughter’s eyes, Father Lu had always been an unshakable mountain to Lu Qiyue. She had believed nothing could ever topple that mountain—until she saw him lying frail on the hospital bed, realizing even the strongest could falter.
“Ah Xing, let’s go buy some nourishing supplements later. Even if he won’t acknowledge me as his daughter, he’ll always be my father in my heart,” Lu Qiyue said.
“Alright,” Ruan Xingchen agreed. “We’ll go now. Sister Yin needs to rest anyway. I’ll have Song Yang arrange the restaurant.”
Back in the car, Lu Qiyue’s spirits were still low, but much improved from before. After all, the surgery had succeeded—with proper care, Father Lu would surely recover fully.
Seeing Lu Qiyue in better spirits lifted Ruan Xingchen’s mood as well.
Song Yang observed the two with quiet amusement before reluctantly dampening the atmosphere with practical matters.
“Chen-jie, you haven’t posted today’s confession Weibo yet.”
“Your Weibo is buzzing right now. You’ve been posting exactly at midnight these past few days, but today’s still missing. Netizens are speculating you’ve given up. What’s worse, they’re actually betting in your comments section – half of them are wagering you quit! Pfft, as if my Chen-jie with her ironclad willpower would ever give up?”
Song Yang was fuming, practically itching to drag out those doubters and give them a piece of her mind. This was outright slander against her beloved Chen-jie.
Noticing Ruan Xingchen pick up her phone, Song Yang’s eyes lit up. “Chen-jie, are you posting now? What’s today’s confession content going to be?”
