The Movie Queen Confesses to Me on Weibo Everyday - Chapter 3
Lu Qiyue’s hands trembled as she picked up her phone and opened Weibo, accurately locating Ruan Xingchen’s account and tapping into it.
When she saw with her own eyes the post Ruan Xingchen had made in the early hours of the morning, Lu Qiyue’s tears instantly fell.
Xingchen… Xingchen still loved her?!
For a moment, Lu Qiyue was overwhelmed with joy.
But that joy lasted only a few seconds before being replaced by worry.
Ruan Xingchen’s status now was even more prominent than it had been six years ago. By posting something like this publicly, wasn’t she inviting trouble for herself?
Lu Qiyue hurriedly opened the comments section, and sure enough, Ruan Xingchen’s post was flooded with hate.
“Holy sh1t, a reigning movie queen openly declaring her love for another woman? This is fucking disgusting, absolutely disgusting.”
“A woman loving another woman? RXC is seriously messed up. Unfollowing right now.”
“How can two women be together? This goes against all natural order!”
“I used to be Ruan Xingchen’s biggest fan, but who knew she was so twisted inside? I’m done with this freak—whoever wants her can have her.”
“I demand the broadcasting authority ban Ruan Xingchen from the entertainment industry and remove all her works. I don’t want my kids learning from this kind of depravity.”
“My daughter was a fan of Ruan Xingchen. I used to encourage it, but now I need to go home and throw out all her Ruan Xingchen merchandise immediately.”
…
Reading these comments, Lu Qiyue’s tears fell even harder.
“Ruan Xingchen, why are you so foolish? You’re ruining your own future.”
“No, I have to stop her… I have to stop her…” Sobbing, Lu Qiyue switched to her phone’s dialer and entered a number she knew by heart, pressing call.
It was Ruan Xingchen’s number from six years ago. Lu Qiyue didn’t know if the call would go through, but it was the only way she might be able to reach her.
Ruan Xingchen, please don’t have changed your number.
Lu Qiyue prayed desperately in her heart.
Perhaps the heavens heard her plea, because the call connected with a dial tone, followed by a voice that made Lu Qiyue’s heart tremble.
“Lu Qiyue, I’ve been waiting six years for this call.”
That voice… Though more mature than it had been six years ago, Lu Qiyue recognized it instantly. It was Ruan Xingchen’s voice.
The person on the other end was Ruan Xingchen—the Ruan Xingchen she loved.
Lu Qiyue’s heart ached violently, tears streaming down like broken pearls.
So, for six years, she hadn’t been the only one suffering.
“Ruan Xingchen… take down that Weibo post. Then make another post explaining it—say your account was hacked, that it wasn’t you who posted it…” Lu Qiyue pleaded between sobs. “That post will destroy you.”
The same reasoning as six years ago. Ruan Xingchen sighed deeply before responding firmly, “No.”
“Lu Qiyue, it’s been six years. I don’t want to wait another six.”
“But—” Lu Qiyue wanted to argue further, but Ruan Xingchen refused to listen.
Ruan Xingchen said, “Yueyue, let’s meet.”
“Let’s talk in person. I’ll text you the address.” Ruan Xingchen hung up the phone with swift decisiveness.
Within a breath after the call ended, Ruan Xingchen’s text message arrived.
The address was a café near the university district—a place they used to frequent when they were together.
Lu Qiyue didn’t hesitate much. After getting up and washing, she first sent a leave request to her boss, then grabbed her bag and headed out.
Only one thought occupied her mind: she had to convince Ruan Xingchen to take down that Weibo post.
Ruan Xingchen had scheduled the meeting for two hours later, but Lu Qiyue arrived a full hour early.
Yet, standing before the café entrance, staring at the sign “First Encounter” above, her feet felt as if weighted with lead, unable to take another step forward.
Memories of her time here with Ruan Xingchen flooded her mind, and Lu Qiyue’s eyes reddened despite herself.
“Ruan Xingchen…” she murmured the name softly.
She was about to meet Ruan Xingchen—their first meeting in six years. Anticipation and fear tangled in her heart.
Suddenly remembering something, Lu Qiyue hurriedly rummaged through her bag for a mirror. One glance revealed she had rushed out with only basic skincare, not even bothering with makeup.
Her home was filled with photos of Ruan Xingchen, the most recent being a fan-taken shot from an event just a week ago. She knew exactly how Ruan Xingchen looked now—but herself? Like this?
Lu Qiyue panicked.
No.
She absolutely couldn’t face Ruan Xingchen like this.
Frantically searching her bag, she sighed in relief upon finding her emergency makeup kit.
Forgetting her earlier hesitation, she strode quickly into the café, making a beeline for the restroom.
She needed to put on makeup.
She needed to present her best self to Ruan Xingchen.
In her haste, Lu Qiyue failed to notice the woman in the corner—wearing a mask and cap—who gestured to the staff. Moments later, the café closed its doors.
Once the employees had all left early, the woman removed her disguise, revealing herself as Ruan Xingchen.
Seated at booth number ten, Ruan Xingchen sipped her coffee, eyes fixed on the restroom entrance as she patiently waited for Lu Qiyue to emerge.
Afraid Ruan Xingchen might arrive first, Lu Qiyue hurried through her makeup and rushed out.
She needed to find booth number ten—the spot Ruan Xingchen had chosen.
But when she saw the figure already seated there—Ruan Xingchen, who had arrived before her—her breath caught.
“What’s with the distance? Do I look so different from six years ago—some kind of monster now?” Hearing the voice, Ruan Xingchen glanced up, spotting Lu Qiyue frozen in place. With a faint smile, she teased.
That familiar voice, that familiar tone, that familiar person… Lu Qiyue snapped back to reality, inching forward one tiny, painstaking step at a time.
She wanted to savor this moment, to look at her a little longer—because soon, the words between them would surely part them on bad terms, and perhaps… perhaps they’d never meet again.
Lu Qiyue moved so slowly that Ruan Xingchen grew impatient.
Ruan Xingchen couldn’t wait any longer. If there were a hundred steps between her and Lu Qiyue, and Lu Qiyue was only willing to take one step, then she would take the remaining ninety-nine.
Ruan Xingchen stood up and strode over to Lu Qiyue in just a few steps with her long legs, then immediately pulled Lu Qiyue into a tight embrace.
“Yueyue, I missed you.” Ruan Xingchen kept tightening her arms, finally releasing the longing that had built up over six years. She wanted nothing more than to meld Lu Qiyue into her very being.
Lu Qiyue had imagined all the possible things Ruan Xingchen might say when they reunited, but she never expected it would be this.
Tears, once again unbidden, streamed down her face. Lu Qiyue instantly crumbled.
“Ruan Xingchen, I missed you too.”
