Chapter 1: Caught in the Act

“What are you doing?!”

When Si Shao received the tip, she rushed to Nightfall Bar in a hurry—only to be greeted by the sight of Yan Xijing tangled up with another man.

Yan Xijing’s eyes flickered with a trace of panic when she saw Si Shao. But it quickly faded into a playful smirk.
“What am I doing? Can’t you see? We’re just having fun.”

“Having fun? Great. Just great.”

Although Si Shao was smiling, the storm in her eyes was enough to send the man behind Yan Xijing fleeing in terror. As a top-level Alpha, even without releasing her pheromones, her presence alone was more than any ordinary Alpha could withstand.

Yan Xijing didn’t care much about the guy. Let him run—there were plenty of men out there. But Si Shao, always showing up to ruin her fun—that was truly annoying.

“I was just socializing. Don’t come and bother me if it’s not important.”

Si Shao gave a small nod, then grabbed Yan Xijing by the wrist and dragged her upstairs. Nightfall Bar had shares under Si Shao’s name—she had her own private room on the second floor.

Yan Xijing was thrown onto the bed. Though Si Shao hadn’t used much force, she was still stunned by the suddenness of it.

“What the hell are you doing?!” she shouted, trying to get up, but Si Shao pinned her down.

“What am I doing? You can’t sit still, can you? Maybe I should permanently mark you. That way no low-life scum will dare come near you again. Get pregnant, stay home, and I’ll take care of you. How’s that?”

Yan Xijing was a top-level Omega. If she were permanently marked by someone like Si Shao, her appeal to other Alphas would sharply decline. Not to mention, Si Shao’s pheromones were notoriously aggressive—once marked, no other Alpha would dare approach her.

Seeing the fury in Si Shao’s eyes, Yan Xijing realized that if she kept pushing, Si Shao might actually do it. She was her fiancée, and no one would think it inappropriate—but if it happened, she’d be stuck at home having babies. That wasn’t the life she wanted.

“…I was wrong.”

Right now, admitting fault was the only way to calm Si Shao down.

Si Shao had genuinely wanted to mark her permanently, but the way Yan Xijing looked up at her with those watery, pleading eyes—it broke her resolve again.

Sensing her hesitation, Yan Xijing wrapped her arms around Si Shao’s neck and leaned in to kiss her lips.
“I think we should wait until after we’re married to do the permanent marking. I don’t want people to gossip. Baby… forgive me this time, okay?”

Yan Xijing used the same tricks to coax her every time. And every time, Si Shao told herself not to give in. But when faced with Yan Xijing, her heart always softened. It had always been that way.

“Remember what you promised me.”

“Of course! I always keep my word. Baby, you’re the best!”
Yan Xijing said sweetly, kissing her on the cheek again.

In the end, Si Shao couldn’t bring herself to mark her here. She couldn’t be cruel to her—not truly.
“Come home with me. Tomorrow night, we’ll attend the banquet together.”
