The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Starting Over
“So? Why didn’t you two get married?”
Shen Ruzhu’s expression finally turned serious. He gave a faint smirk and said, “Because his pheromone level was really low. He barely had any Omega traits, and my family didn’t approve of me being with him.”
“Your family didn’t approve, and you just obeyed? You gave up on him just like that?”
“Of course not. I didn’t give up on him—I gave up on my family. I left and went to live with him. Later, he was the one who broke up with me. He was two years ahead of me in school. After graduating, he went abroad. He didn’t even leave me a message before he left.”
As he spoke, Shen Ruzhu downed the glass of alcohol in front of him and continued:
“How could he just leave without a word? What right did he have? I was willing to give up everything for him, and this is how he repaid me?”
“Maybe he had his reasons. After all these years, haven’t you looked into how he’s doing?”
“Of course I did. After I took over the family business, I never stopped looking for him. A year ago, I finally got some news about him.”
Then Shen Ruzhu suddenly changed the topic and looked at Si Shao, saying:
“Weren’t we supposed to be talking about your problems? How did this turn into my life story? I’ve shared enough—it’s your turn now.”
“Me?”
When it came to talking about her and Yan Xijing, Si Shao honestly didn’t know where to begin.
Shen Ruzhu gave her a mysterious smile.
“Come on, spill it. You dragged me out here to drink—obviously because of that precious treasure of yours. What’s going on between you two?”
“It’s nothing big. We grew up together. Ever since I was little, the adults told me Xiaojing would be my future wife and that I should take good care of her. I really liked her since we were kids. Taking care of her—it was something I was happy to do.”
Si Shao smiled tenderly as she thought of little Yan Xijing with her soft, pale cheeks.
Shen Ruzhu was used to this look on Si Shao’s face whenever Yan Xijing was mentioned, so he didn’t think much of it.
“So what’s the problem? It sounds great—childhood sweethearts, matching pheromones, perfect combo. Why are you upset?”
“Because Xiaojing says… what we have isn’t love. She wants to go find real love.”
If Shen Ruzhu hadn’t just poured out his own story, Si Shao wouldn’t have been able to say it so openly.
Shen Ruzhu’s eyes widened in shock.
“What?! President Si, are you saying… you’re getting dumped?!”
“Get lost!”
“So what—you think I’m your most charming, experienced friend, and you came to me to get some expert advice?”
Si Shao grimaced.
“Get outta here! You? Experienced? Most of what you said was nonsense—only the part about your senior barely counts as a real relationship. I shouldn’t have come to you at all. You’re not even good enough to be a lousy wingman.”
“That’s not fair! At least I’ve slept with my senior. What about you? Have you slept with your superstar?”
“How could I? We’re not even married yet. The most we’ve done is a temporary marking.”
“What the—President Si, can you tell me what century you’re living in? You’re engaged! At that point, sleeping together—even permanent marking—is totally normal.”
Shen Ruzhu sized her up.
“Wait a second—President Si, don’t tell me… do you have some kind of… dysfunction?”
Si Shao slapped him on the head.
“You’re the one with dysfunction! I’m as normal as can be. I just think some things should wait until marriage.”
Shen Ruzhu rolled his eyes and shook his head.
“No wonder your superstar says it’s not love. President Si, real love isn’t all restrained and proper like that. Don’t you feel desire for her? Don’t you ever have… naughty thoughts when you see her?”
“Of course I do. But I want to respect her.”
“Sigh… Okay then. I’ll send you a few romance novels to read. Young Omegas are really into this kind of thing nowadays.”
Si Shao didn’t know how Shen Ruzhu was so well-versed in young Omega tastes, but she agreed to read the books. Maybe Shen Ruzhu was right—maybe she was too old-fashioned, and that’s why Xiaojing’s heart had wandered. She needed to keep up with the times and understand the younger generation better.
…
Meanwhile, Yan Xijing hadn’t contacted Si Shao for several days. Normally, even if she was angry, Si Shao would show up the next day to make it right. But now… nothing. Had Si Shao really let go? Was she willing to break up?
All the declarations of “I can’t live without you” must have been fake after all.
Just as Yan Xijing was lost in thought, her phone suddenly rang, startling her. She picked it up on reflex.
“Xiaojing, it’s me.”
Si Shao’s voice came through. But something sounded different—her tone wasn’t like before.
“I know it’s you. What is it? Have you changed your mind? Ready to call off the engagement?”
“No. Come downstairs—I’m outside.”
“Huh?”
She couldn’t leave Si Shao just waiting there, so she went downstairs.
…
Si Shao stood against a wall in the parking lot, waiting.
When Yan Xijing arrived, she spotted Si Shao right away. She had to admit—Si Shao looked better than most celebrities. Just standing there, she exuded a genuine CEO aura that TV dramas couldn’t even come close to.
As Yan Xijing walked over, before she could speak, Si Shao suddenly trapped her against the wall—kabedon style. It was the first time Si Shao had ever done something like this, and she was clearly a bit awkward.
Yan Xijing didn’t expect it either and was momentarily stunned.
Si Shao had planned a whole speech, but now she forgot all of it. She simply leaned in, intending to kiss her.
But Yan Xijing raised her finger and gently pressed it against Si Shao’s lips.
“What’s this supposed to be?”
“Something new I learned. You said what we have isn’t love, right? Then let’s start over. If other people have the right to pursue you, so do I—don’t you think?”
Yan Xijing hadn’t expected this. After days of no contact, Si Shao showed up with this. Her gaze was so sincere… she couldn’t deny she was moved.
Seeing her stay silent, Si Shao continued:
“I’m not trying to pressure you—I just want a chance to pursue you. If in the end you still feel this isn’t love, I won’t force you. Isn’t that fair?”
Yan Xijing smiled—a bright, radiant smile. How could she possibly say no?
“I—”
Before Si Shao could finish, Yan Xijing kissed her.
