The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Tit for Tat
Si Shao still didn’t go all the way, because she knew that once she started, she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from permanently marking Yan Xijing. As a top-level Alpha, if she lost control, it wouldn’t just be dangerous for Yan Xijing—it might even be beyond her own control.
Nestled in Si Shao’s arms, Yan Xijing asked softly, “Why didn’t we go further?”
“I was afraid I couldn’t control myself. Once I start, I’ll definitely give you a permanent mark, and you said no.”
“So obedient?” Yan Xijing chuckled as she played with Si Shao’s fingers.
“Of course I listen to you. Your words are more powerful to me than any imperial decree,” Si Shao replied with a smile.
“Do you still have work to do?”
“Just a little. I can do it tomorrow.”
What Si Shao brought home was not urgent, but still required her attention.
Not wanting to interrupt Si Shao’s work, Yan Xijing hugged her and said, “In that case, let’s just sleep. We can get up early tomorrow, and you can finish your work then.”
“Sleep together?”
“Of course. It’s so late—are you going home? My parents are dying to see us married. If they hear you stayed over, they’ll probably be thrilled.”
Thinking of her dad on a business trip and her mom visiting relatives, Yan Xijing felt a bit of a headache. Her parents had been arranging her life since childhood, and even though she didn’t dislike Si Shao, their meddling made her rebel out of instinct.
Hearing this, Si Shao smiled slightly and held Yan Xijing as they fell asleep. The whole day had been exhausting for both, so they drifted off quickly.
The next morning, they got up, washed, and went to work with seamless coordination. Si Shao dropped Yan Xijing off, giving her a kiss before leaving.
While doing her makeup, Yan Xijing finally had time to check the news on her phone—only to find that she and Si Shao were trending again.
“Aaaah! This is too sweet, I can’t take it!”
“President Si is way too indulgent! God, when will I get a CEO like that?”
“Our little princess is so beautiful, even without makeup!”
“Bare face supremacy!”
Seeing all those cute comments put Yan Xijing in a great mood. After being a celebrity for so long, she had learned to read only the positive comments and ignore the negative ones.
In truth, every time she trended, the jealous haters were just as vocal as the fans. But she simply didn’t care. Who she dated wasn’t up to those people to decide. Right now, she wanted to be with Si Shao—no matter what they said, it was just noise, like a swarm of flies: annoying, but harmless.
As she was happily scrolling, another trending topic suddenly surged in popularity—one about her and Xiao Ran playing badminton.
Normally, when something involves two celebrities, the post goes live only after mutual approval. Xiao Ran wasn’t the first to hang out with Yan Xijing; she’d had meals with other celebrities before without incident. But things went wrong with Xiao Ran—Yan Xijing wasn’t stupid; she knew exactly what was going on.
Just as she was about to call Yang Xin for answers, his call came through.
“Damn it, Xiao Ran is trash. His new movie is about to be released and he’s trying to ride our coattails for clout!”
Yang Xin rarely cursed, which showed how angry he really was. Yan Xijing, however, didn’t seem that upset.
She replied, “Bro, there’s no need to get mad at a scumbag like that. Just go ahead and fight him—I’ve got your back if anything goes wrong.”
“With that said, I’m not holding back. Get ready to watch the drama unfold.”
Yang Xin hung up and got to work. Having worked with Yan Xijing for so long, he felt he knew her well. Sure, she could be a bit willful, but she had principles. She had never had any physical contact above the neck with any Alpha other than Si Shao, not even once. At most, she’d go out for a casual meal—and even that was usually interrupted by Si Shao.
Everyone in the entertainment world knew Xiao Ran had connections, which was why his scandals were always covered up. But this time was different. With Yan Xijing speaking out—and Si Shao backing her—even if she couldn’t handle it alone, Si Shao definitely could. Yang Xin had seen just how powerful Si Shao was, so he confidently picked one of Xiao Ran’s dirty secrets and leaked it.
Yan Xijing hadn’t had much contact with Xiao Ran before. This time, he was just doing a cameo. Yang Xin assumed they wouldn’t interact off set, so he didn’t warn her about Xiao Ran. It wasn’t until the news broke that she realized Xiao Ran was trouble—but undeniably a good actor.
Thinking back to how she had actually considered giving him a shot, Yan Xijing felt nauseous. Even if things hadn’t worked out with Si Shao, she should’ve vetted someone’s character better. She’d definitely be more careful in the future.
Xiao Ran stared at the headlines showing him belittling and insulting Omegas. Furious, he hurled his phone across the room.
He knew instantly that the leak had come from Yan Xijing’s camp. The footage showed him casually mouthing off with a group of equally shady friends. It wasn’t criminal—but it was still serious.
The serious part was that the video would cause him to lose a large portion of his fans. The less serious part was that his words, while crude, didn’t break any laws.
His manager quickly drafted an apology and had Xiao Ran post it online. The language was heartfelt, and some fans were touched, but many rational ones decided to walk away.
Yan Xijing’s team also issued a clarification, stating that the badminton session had been a casual gathering among friends. She was unaware of Xiao Ran’s disgusting remarks at the time and vowed never to work with him again.
As soon as her statement went live, Si Shao liked it—and even commented, confirming that she had picked Yan Xijing up after the badminton game.
That comment blew up the trending list. The people who had accused Yan Xijing of secretly seeing other Alphas all went silent. After all, who in their right mind would let their own Alpha pick them up after sneaking around with someone else? Only a madman would do that. Almost instantly, the public turned their anger toward Xiao Ran.
“Damn it! DAMN IT!”
In a rage, Xiao Ran kicked over a small wooden coffee table. The table didn’t break, but the cups on top shattered.
“I’ll make sure everyone sees what a whore she is!”
His manager sighed and said helplessly, “Give it a rest. We can’t win this. If we stop now, we can still minimize the damage. But if we escalate things, we’ll be the ones forced to leave the industry. Don’t forget what happened to the last person who crossed Yan Xijing.”
