The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 15
Chapter 15: Come Stay at My Place
“But I just can’t swallow this anger.”
“Don’t worry,” the agent said. “Do you really think that Yan Xijing is some sweet, innocent person? If she can seduce you, she can seduce others. I don’t believe Si Shao would be so willing to wear a green hat [i.e., be cheated on]. If they break up, then we can…”
The meaning was obvious. As long as the Si and Yan families were aligned, there wasn’t much they could do. But if Si Shao and Yan Xijing broke up, then it would be a different story—Xiao Ran could do as he pleased. With that thought, Xiao Ran finally calmed down a little. Even though the plan had backfired badly this time, and he’d suffered a significant loss, recovery would be tough but not impossible.
Shortly after Si Shao leaked Xiao Ran’s scandal, she received a call from Xiao Ran’s second uncle, Xiao Jingru.
“President Si, did that brat Xiao Ran offend you?”
Xiao Jingru, also a top-tier Alpha, was the current head of the Xiao family and only 36 years old—a late-born son of the Xiao family patriarch.
“A little bit,” Si Shao replied calmly. “Don’t worry. When I deal with him, it won’t involve the Xiao family. But President Xiao, your nephew isn’t exactly a saint. If you want to protect the family, you should take action sooner rather than later.”
“I understand. Don’t worry, President Si. I’ll handle my own family business.”
“I believe you, President Xiao.”
They continued to chat, eventually moving from discussing Xiao Ran to talking business matters. As their conversation wound down, Xiao Jingru brought up Yan Xijing.
“President Si, are you sure your fiancée is really okay? We’re friends, so forgive me for being blunt—but going into showbiz isn’t exactly an honorable career. You’re the only one who could tolerate that.”
Xiao Jingru’s Omega was a man who worked as a university lecturer. He had plenty of free time to accompany him, and their relationship was loving and admired by many in their circle—including Si Shao.
“That’s what she wants to do. I’ll support her,” Si Shao replied.
“Don’t take it the wrong way, but relationships are mutual. If it’s always one-sided, it won’t last a lifetime. I’m saying this as a friend—I want what’s best for you.”
“Thank you.”
Si Shao understood what Xiao Jingru meant. Her relationship with Yan Xijing had endured mostly because she persisted. If it weren’t for her insistence, it might have ended long ago. But what could she do? She liked Yan Xijing and didn’t want to give up.
At that moment, Yan Xijing was checking the trending topics. Fame was like that—hot news today would be old news tomorrow. Soon, some other gossip would take over the headlines, and no one would care about their situation anymore.
She thought the drama had passed—until another hot topic shot to the top of the trends. Zhao Zelin had posted a statement praising her, saying how wonderful she was and how strong her relationship with Si Shao was. He also mentioned how both Si Shao and Yan Xijing had helped his sister Zhao Zeyu seek medical treatment.
His post reignited public scorn for Xiao Ran.
Xiao Ran had been ready to let it go, but Zhao Zelin unexpectedly jumped in to kick him while he was down. Furious, he shouted, “Dig into his background! How dare he step on me like that? Does he even know who he’s messing with?”
“We’re already checking,” the agent replied.
He hadn’t expected anyone to get involved in the clash between Xiao Ran and Yan Xijing. Since he relied on Xiao Ran for his livelihood, he was more anxious than anyone else.
But it was pointless. Zhao Zelin, while not a major actor, lived an extremely clean and transparent life. Orphaned, he cared for a sickly younger brother and had a spotless private life—barely any friends, let alone scandals. There was nothing they could use against him.
“Impossible. He’s got nothing, and yet he’s made it this far on his own? Keep digging!”
Xiao Ran couldn’t believe someone could climb the ranks in the entertainment industry without shady dealings—not when even he, with the backing of the powerful Xiao family, had to resort to dirty tricks.
But Zhao Zelin was truly clean. Not only did they fail to dig up any dirt, they found out he had donated to charity, created a small foundation to help people with heart disease, and had even saved many lives over the years. His popularity soared.
Yan Xijing didn’t believe all of it was coincidence. She didn’t think Zhao Zelin was that naïve. But she didn’t dislike him—he was the type of person who, no matter what he did, was hard to hate.
Even though he hadn’t finished his current project, many new offers were already coming his way. Popularity meant everything in this business. Zhao Zelin was smart—he picked a new script where he’d be the male lead.
Almost half a month later, Zhao Zelin finally wrapped up filming and invited Yan Xijing and Si Shao to dinner.
Yan Xijing saw that her schedule was clear and agreed.
Si Shao was delighted just to get a call from Yan Xijing. Even when she heard it was to meet Zhao Zelin, she happily agreed.
Once they arrived at the restaurant, Zhao Zelin had already arranged for the food to be served. He’d always been meticulous in these matters.
Si Shao smiled and said, “You’re quite clever—riding the wave of this scandal to boost your fame. You’ll probably land male lead roles from now on.”
“I had no choice,” Zhao Zelin replied. “I have no background, no connections, and I refuse to sleep my way to the top. So I had to be smart and seize every opportunity. But I really didn’t handle this one well. Miss Yan, I’ll punish myself with three drinks. I hope you’ll forgive me.”
“Alright, no need to punish yourself. I’m not angry. In fact, I should thank you—after you spoke out, more people started stepping up to defend me.”
Yan Xijing truly didn’t mind. Zhao Zelin hadn’t hurt her, so there was no point in holding a grudge.
“You may not care, but that just shows your generosity. I’ll still drink these three cups. You and President Si have been nothing but kind to me—I shouldn’t have used you like that.”
After he finished, Zhao Zelin downed three drinks in one go.
Seeing this, Si Shao respected him a bit more. He was smart, aware of his place, and even if he used a few tricks, it was hard to dislike him.
Yan Xijing didn’t stop him—maybe drinking like that gave him some peace of mind. People with a moral compass always live a bit harder than those without one. She’d underestimated Zhao Zelin before. He wasn’t weak at all. He was definitely going to carve out his own path.
By the end of dinner, all three were fairly satisfied. Zhao Zelin was a little drunk, so Si Shao had her driver take him home. Yan Xijing hadn’t drunk, so she would drive them back.
After getting in the car, Si Shao hugged Yan Xijing and kissed her. Then she said:
“Let’s go stay at my place tonight.”
