The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 16
Chapter 16: Harmonious and Sweet
“Okay.”
Lately, things between them had been going really well. Si Shao was always able to come up with new and fun ways to make Yan Xijing laugh, and Yan Xijing also took the initiative to get closer to Si Shao. They were truly like a couple in the honeymoon phase.
These days, Si Shao had stayed over at Yan Xijing’s place twice, and Yan Xijing had also stayed at Si Shao’s home twice. They always shared the same room. Tonight, as soon as Yan Xijing arrived at Si Shao’s place, she headed straight to her room. After taking a shower, she leaned against Si Shao, who was working on her laptop.
Yan Xijing looked at her and asked, “Don’t you find doing this stuff every day a bit dull?”
“No. This is my responsibility. Xiao Jing, there are tens of thousands of employees at home depending on me to support them. And in the future, if you don’t want to take over your family’s business, I’ll have to handle it too. If both our families’ businesses are on my shoulders, I’ll be even busier.”
“You’re so busy—only I would still want to date you. You don’t even have time for a proper date.”
She pouted after saying that.
Si Shao reached out and gently ruffled her hair. “Having you is more than enough.”
“But not enough for me. I want you to spend more time with me.”
“I’ll do my best. The company is going through a reform right now. Once that’s done, I’ll have more time.”
Si Shao didn’t want to be this busy either, but the company had grown so large that the old structure clearly wasn’t working anymore. She needed to push through the reforms first, and once she hired two senior executives to divide the workload, she’d be much more relaxed.
“Then I’ll wait for you.”
“Mm.”
Filming wasn’t easy for Yan Xijing either. Not long after, she fell asleep. Si Shao covered her with a blanket, finished her work, then lay down and held Yan Xijing as they slept.
The next morning, Yan Xijing was woken up by Si Shao. She couldn’t help it—being kissed early in the morning made it hard to stay asleep.
“Mm…” Yan Xijing tried to push Si Shao away, but her resistance only came across as half-hearted, which only encouraged Si Shao further. In the end, she couldn’t reject her.
By the time they had gotten ready and gone downstairs for breakfast, an hour had passed.
Yan Xijing gave Si Shao an angry look—this woman, seriously, acting up first thing in the morning… Si Shao spent the entire morning trying to win her back. After dropping her off, she pinched Yan Xijing’s cheek and said with a smile, “Alright, don’t be mad. I’ll try not to wake you up next time.”
Si Shao’s words were very precise—she said she’d “try not to wake her up,” but didn’t promise not to do it again. Yan Xijing actually liked how she put it. That’s how couples should be.
“Alright, call me if anything happens. You know I’ll always answer your calls, no matter when.”
“Okay.”
Yan Xijing was in a good mood as she got out of the car and went to film.
Coincidentally, the second female lead, Feng Qingqing, saw her getting out and walked over. “Teacher Yan, you and President Si are so sweet.”
“Yeah, we’re dating—of course we’re close.”
Yan Xijing knew her coworkers came and went in waves, and so did the people who were jealous of her for having someone like Si Shao.
Feng Qingqing was an A-grade omega with a sweet appearance and had always taken the cute route. She hadn’t interacted much with Yan Xijing off-screen. Every time she saw Si Shao, she couldn’t help but feel jealous of Yan Xijing—good family, strong pheromones, beautiful, and a perfect fiancée. Why did Yan Xijing get all the blessings?
Feng Qingqing knew she couldn’t interact with Yan Xijing with a normal mindset, so she simply kept her distance. The only reason she spoke to her this time was because they happened to run into each other. She couldn’t help herself and asked, “Teacher Yan, is there a secret to you and President Si being so good together?”
“Nope. She’s always treated me like this since I can remember—even better than my own parents. Maybe I’m just too charming.”
Feng Qingqing rolled her eyes internally. So full of herself, she thought. “Well, that’s true. Teacher Yan’s charm is just irresistible.”
“Alright, time for makeup. Let’s go.”
Yan Xijing had a private dressing room, so they parted ways shortly after.
That day’s scenes were mostly with Feng Qingqing, and Yan Xijing was close to being sick of it. She suddenly started missing Zhao Zelin—his acting was way better than Feng Qingqing’s. If he were her scene partner today, they probably would’ve wrapped already. But because Feng Qingqing kept messing up, they had to work overtime.
Maybe the director noticed Yan Xijing’s impatience, because he came to talk to her during a break.
“Teacher Yan, I’m really sorry. Today’s shoot didn’t go well. It’s partially our fault.”
“It’s fine, Director. Don’t worry. I only have scenes with her for one day. I’m not going to just quit over that.”
Yan Xijing rarely brought her diva attitude to work, which was why she had such a good reputation.
“Thank you for understanding, Teacher Yan. Don’t worry—this drama is going to be a hit!”
The director said it with great confidence.
Yan Xijing smiled. “Don’t worry, Director. With me in it, there’s no way it won’t be.”
“Mm!”
After about two extra hours of filming, Yan Xijing finally finished her scenes for the day. Because she had a falling-out with Xiao Ran, and the production didn’t want that affecting the release, they decided to recast his role and compensate him. However, they hadn’t found a suitable replacement yet.
Xiao Ran’s character was supposed to be Yan Xijing’s “white moonlight”—a short-lived but unforgettable love that lived only in memory.
It had to be someone striking and talented—someone whose looks and skills could match the emotional weight of the role. Because part of the situation was due to her, Yan Xijing had agreed to help the director look for a suitable actor.
But no matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t find anyone suitable. That evening, while in the car, she brought it up to Si Shao.
“You’re looking for someone to replace him?”
Si Shao hadn’t thought about recasting. After all, the entertainment industry wasn’t really her field. If not for Yan Xijing, she wouldn’t have any interest in it at all.
“Yeah, someone good. Got any recommendations?”
“Tell me your requirements. I’ll have my assistant find someone tomorrow and arrange a meeting.”
Si Shao always got things done quickly. Yan Xijing quickly laid out all her requirements, and Si Shao memorized them immediately.
The next day, Si Shao gave the list to her assistant and left the rest alone.
Anyone capable of being Si Shao’s assistant wasn’t ordinary. In fact, her assistant was more competent than the average general manager at a small company. So in less than half a day, three candidates were already presented to Si Shao.
