The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 17
Chapter 17: Traveling Together
Si Shao didn’t know much about the three actor candidates. She glanced at their profiles and said, “Pick an honest one, and you handle the contact and coordinate with Xiao Jing’s crew.”
“Okay.”
In just two days, the replacement actor was finalized. Since it was only a cameo role, negotiations went smoothly.
The chosen actor was an A-grade alpha named Xu Luodong. Though not a film emperor, he was a strong, reliable actor. The shows he participated in had consistently performed well, and most importantly, he had no scandals since his debut.
Xu Luodong’s cooperation with Yan Xijing was very smooth. They finished all their scenes in just over a day, and he quickly left to join his next project.
That evening, Yan Xijing was home with nothing to do, so she called Si Shao and mentioned Xu Luodong.
“How was this guy? Reliable?”
“Very reliable, super professional. We’ve already wrapped up our scenes, and he’s gone.”
Hearing he had already left, Si Shao felt relieved. She didn’t want to see Yan Xijing going out with any random guy for meals or anything like that. “I’m almost done with my work. How about you? When will you be finished?”
“I’m close too. Another twenty or so days, and I should be done. Why? Planning to ask me out?”
“Yeah. Watching all the older folks go traveling made me jealous. I want to go on a trip with you.”
Si Shao wasn’t someone who particularly enjoyed traveling, but just thinking about doing it with Yan Xijing made her interested. She wanted to travel across famous mountains and rivers with her, experiencing every unique moment together.
“Sure, I’ll sort out my schedule and let you know.”
“Okay.”
…
In the following twenty days, Yan Xijing successfully finished filming. The two variety shows she had signed on to also wrapped up recording. Now, she was just waiting for Si Shao.
On Si Shao’s side, the company reform had just concluded. Things were much easier now. After completing some finishing touches, she drove directly to Yan Xijing’s house.
Yan Xijing’s father, Yan Yi, had just returned from a business trip, and Bai Hui was home too. Both were happy and welcoming when they saw Si Shao.
Yan Yi pulled Si Shao aside, saying, “How’ve things been lately? I’ve heard a lot about the big changes at your company.”
“It’s all settled now. How was your trip, Uncle?”
“I was negotiating a major new project. Once that gets up and running, I can finally take another break. But I still need to be busy for a while. You and Xiao Jing should just get married quickly. Then I can hand my responsibilities over to you and retire properly.”
Yan Yi spoke with a laugh. Watching Si Shao’s parents travel freely all the time made him envious. He hoped she and Yan Xijing would tie the knot soon so he could also retire early.
“I’d love to marry Xiao Jing soon too. But that’s up to her—she has to agree first.”
If it were up to Si Shao, they’d have been married right after graduating from university. But Yan Xijing hadn’t given in, and Si Shao didn’t want to pressure her.
“You just spoil her too much. From childhood to now, you’ve indulged her so badly—that’s why she’s like this.”
Si Shao listened with a smile. She knew she spoiled Yan Xijing without much principle. But she couldn’t help it—after all, from the very beginning, Yan Xijing was destined to be hers. If she didn’t spoil her, who would?
While Yan Yi was still talking, Yan Xijing came downstairs. “Dad, you’re at it again.”
“What do you expect? Like Si Shao doesn’t know what you’re like? You’re not a kid anymore and still so unreliable.”
Before she could respond, Si Shao smiled and said, “Alright, Uncle. We’re planning to go to the seaside for a couple of days, so we’ll go pack our things now.”
“Fine, go ahead. I don’t want to manage you two anyway.”
Si Shao dragged Yan Xijing upstairs before she could argue with her dad.
Once in the room, Yan Xijing pulled her hand away, annoyed. “What was that? I didn’t even get a chance to say anything.”
“What, were you going to argue with your dad?” Si Shao grinned, pinching her cheek.
Yan Xijing caught her hand and gave it a playful bite. “It’s your fault! Hmph!”
“Alright, alright, it’s all my fault. How about we pack and then head out?”
“You pack. I don’t feel like moving.”
With that, Yan Xijing flopped onto the bed.
Si Shao just shook her head, smiling, and got to work packing. She was used to it—since they were kids, Yan Xijing had never hidden her laziness in front of her.
Si Shao carefully selected and packed the clothes, coordinating them nicely. She paid special attention to undergarments, placing them in small pouches before putting them in the suitcase. As for toiletries and cosmetics, Yan Xijing didn’t usually need much makeup when traveling with Si Shao. Her assistant had already prepared a travel set, which was packed in Si Shao’s suitcase.
Once everything was ready, Si Shao grabbed the suitcase and took Yan Xijing with her. Though it was already late, it was actually a great time to catch the seaside night view, so they boarded the plane.
On the plane, Yan Xijing fell asleep right away. With her usual tight schedule, she had gotten used to sleeping on flights. She had even developed a knack for dozing off as soon as she boarded.
Seeing her asleep, Si Shao also laid down to rest. Once they arrived, she wanted the energy to explore.
The destination wasn’t far—a little over an hour by plane. Si Shao had already arranged for a driver. After landing, they headed straight to the hotel.
The hotel had a seaside view, and its top floor housed an upscale restaurant with private dining rooms—each one outrageously expensive. But to Si Shao, that was no big deal. Money only had value if it could make Yan Xijing happy.
Standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out at the sea, Yan Xijing felt calm. Such beauty always helped her relax.
Si Shao walked over, hugged her from behind, and asked, “So? Do you like it?”
Turning slightly, Yan Xijing rubbed her cheek against Si Shao’s and replied, “I do. I really do. You picked a great spot.”
“As long as you like it. Want to take a walk on the beach later?”
Si Shao had handpicked the location, knowing Yan Xijing would love it. Hearing her say so aloud made her even happier than expected.
Yan Xijing was also interested in the beach but said, “Let’s eat first. After that, we can go. The sea breeze can be pretty strong—we’ll get sick if we go out hungry.”
“Alright, let’s eat first.”
Si Shao had already pre-ordered the meal. The top-floor restaurant offered both Chinese and Western cuisine, but she had chosen Chinese food, knowing that Yan Xijing preferred it—as did she.
