The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 22
Chapter 22: Caught Again
Si Shao truly had no idea that Yan Xijing had reconnected with an old classmate. She continued her usual daily work routine and frequently prepared small surprises for Yan Xijing. In Si Shao’s eyes, Yan Xijing was now genuinely committed to their relationship, and all she needed to do was keep her happy.
However, Yan Xijing wasn’t exactly on the same page. Lately, she had been in frequent contact with Wei Feng. She had never experienced such a natural and engaging connection with anyone before.
Wei Feng was witty, charming, and elegant. He had a sharp eye for directing and acting, and once the two of them started talking about acting, they could go on for hours.
Yan Xijing even started looking forward to Wei Feng inviting her out. Talking to him was truly enjoyable — maybe this was what people meant by a soulmate.
“Xiao Jing, are you going to take Wei Feng’s project?” asked Yang Xin, concerned.
“Yes, why wouldn’t I?” Yan Xijing had already read the script — just a few episodes — but she believed in Wei Feng’s capabilities.
Yang Xin had seen all kinds of people come and go in Yan Xijing’s life over the years, but the only one he truly approved of was Si Shao. In his opinion, someone like Si Shao — a top-tier alpha — was rare and invaluable. If he had been that lucky, he would never let go. “Xiao Jing, that Wei Feng…”
“What? Is there a problem? Don’t worry, there’s nothing between us.”
“Strictly speaking, I shouldn’t be meddling in your personal life,” Yang Xin said, “but Xiao Jing, President Si is really a good one. Before you make any decisions, think carefully. I’d never steer you wrong.”
These kinds of remarks — again and again — started to annoy Yan Xijing for no reason. “Okay, I get it. Yang ge, go follow up on Wei Feng’s project. If you think it’s not good enough, I won’t take it.”
“Alright.”
Yang Xin had managed plenty of similar early-stage scripts over the years, but something about Wei Feng didn’t sit well with him. Wei Feng gave off the same vibe as those slick players — seemingly perfect, but all surface. So he reviewed Wei Feng’s script with extra scrutiny. If they didn’t provide a full script, they had to at least submit a complete outline — otherwise, no deal.
When Wei Feng found out, he immediately called Yan Xijing.
“Hello? What’s up?” she asked quickly — she was about to go on set.
“Nothing much, I just wanted to ask if you were free to have dinner tonight?”
“8 PM.”
“Great, I’ll come pick you up.”
Yan Xijing went back to filming and nearly forgot about the dinner until Wei Feng actually showed up.
It was obvious that Yan Xijing had forgotten about the call, but Wei Feng wasn’t upset. “We said we’d have dinner tonight. I happened to be free, so I came by to pick you up.”
She knocked herself lightly on the head. “Sorry, I forgot. Well, since we agreed, let’s go.”
“Hop in.”
At the restaurant, Wei Feng brought up the project.
“Xiao Jing, your agent is really strict.”
“What? Yang ge rejected the project?”
Wei Feng smiled. “No need to be so blunt, but yeah — he didn’t approve it. He asked for a detailed outline or at least half the script.”
Yan Xijing smiled too. “That’s not unreasonable, right?”
She trusted Yang Xin’s professional judgment completely. After all, without him, she wouldn’t be where she was today. And considering her current status, any script with only a few episodes written absolutely needed stricter scrutiny.
Seeing her stand by her agent, Wei Feng let the matter drop. “It’s not unreasonable. I’ve already asked my team to send over a few more episodes. I just hope he won’t refuse to work with us because of some inexplicable hostility. Xiao Jing, I really feel like Yang Xin doesn’t like me, and I don’t want that to ruin our chance to collaborate.”
“Don’t worry. Yang ge knows how to weigh pros and cons. If it’s a solid project, he won’t walk away. As for me, as an old classmate, of course I’d like to work with you. But I won’t go against Yang ge just for that.”
Since trying to convince Yan Xijing wasn’t working, Wei Feng changed the subject — something she appreciated. He had social finesse and didn’t drone on when things didn’t go his way.
After dinner, Wei Feng offered to drive her home again.
But as soon as Yan Xijing stepped out of the car, she saw Si Shao standing at the door of her house.
Si Shao had a copy of Yan Xijing’s shooting schedule and knew she had finished work early today. She’d come by thinking they could go for a walk together. She never expected to witness such a scene.
Even from a distance, Yan Xijing could feel Si Shao’s chilly aura.
Wei Feng, trying to lighten the tension, said, “President Si, don’t be so tense. I just took Xiao Jing out for dinner — it was just a little classmate gathering.”
“Did I ask you to speak?” Si Shao replied coldly, her face full of disdain as she looked at him.
Yan Xijing walked up to her. “We really just had dinner, nothing more. Don’t overthink it.”
“What did he just call you?”
Si Shao knew people were free to call Yan Xijing whatever they wanted — but with Wei Feng, it felt different. That tone had been a challenge, a provocation. Her instincts as a top-tier alpha told her so.
“What he called me doesn’t matter. Let’s just go inside, okay?”
She tried to pull Si Shao inside.
But when Si Shao didn’t want to move, there was no way Yan Xijing could budge her. “Xiao Jing, go inside first. I have something to say to this man.”
“Then say it in front of me. There’s nothing I can’t hear.”
“Fine.”
Si Shao smiled slightly, pulled Yan Xijing behind her, and walked toward Wei Feng.
Wei Feng suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of pressure coming from Si Shao — an invisible force that made him feel small. It just wasn’t fair. Why did someone like her get such a top-tier pheromone level?
“I know exactly what your little tricks are,” Si Shao said coldly. “From now on, stay away from Xiao Jing. Understood?”
Si Shao rarely used her pheromones to intimidate others — she didn’t like doing that. But when it came to people with bad intentions toward Yan Xijing, she had no qualms. In fact, she even enjoyed it.
Wei Feng started sweating profusely and had to grit his teeth, using every ounce of strength he had to avoid collapsing on the spot.
