The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 23
Chapter 23: Si Shao Is Angry
“Si Shao.”
Yan Xijing walked over and grabbed Si Shao’s arm.
Si Shao gave a cold smile and let Wei Feng go. “You can leave.”
Wei Feng didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he said, “There’s nothing going on between Xiaojing and me. We have a clean conscience. Si Shao, you’re being unreasonable.”
“I am being unreasonable. What are you going to do about it?”
Si Shao didn’t think she was out of line at all. If she didn’t like someone, she never bothered pretending.
Seeing the situation, Yan Xijing said, “Alright, Wei Feng, just go. I need to talk to Si Shao.”
“Call me if anything comes up, Xiaojing. We’re friends.”
“Yeah, I know. Just go.”
All she wanted now was for Wei Feng to leave quickly, because she knew that Si Shao was never this “polite” to others—only to her. “Alright.”
Once Wei Feng was gone, Si Shao pulled Yan Xijing with her and led her to the back of the villa.
Just as Yan Xijing opened her mouth to speak, Si Shao shoved her against the wall and kissed her. Yan Xijing tried to resist, but Si Shao grabbed her wrists—there was no way to push back.
After kissing her, Si Shao grabbed Yan Xijing’s chin and asked coldly, “What’s going on? Who is that guy?”
“Si Shao, let me go!”
“Answer me first—who is he?”
“Nothing’s going on! He’s just an old classmate. Didn’t I already say that? Why won’t you believe me? Si Shao, are you saying I’m not allowed to be alone with any Alpha? What’s the difference between this and locking me up?”
Her voice grew louder, her frustration mounting—because she genuinely believed she was in the right.
After letting her finish, Si Shao said calmly, “Don’t twist the narrative, Xiaojing. I’ve never tried to restrict your interactions with other Alphas. I just don’t want some sleazy opportunist taking advantage of you. That guy clearly has feelings for you—you can see it too, can’t you?”
“I don’t see it! There’s nothing going on between us!”
“Xiaojing, maybe you haven’t realized it, but your attitude toward me has changed lately. I’ve noticed. Is it because I’m no longer your only option? You know exactly what’s in your heart. As for that unreliable guy just now, let’s not pretend we don’t both know what he wants.”
Si Shao’s gaze grew darker as she spoke.
Yan Xijing’s instincts screamed that this version of Si Shao was dangerous. She had no choice—she hooked her pinky finger around Si Shao’s and said softly, “Baby, I really don’t have any feelings for Wei Feng. If I did, would I have let him drop me off at home?”
“No feelings, huh? Baby, you can treat me however you want—except for this. This is the one thing I ask: don’t give yourself to anyone else, understand?”
As she spoke, Si Shao’s hand brushed the back of Yan Xijing’s neck.
The hairs on Yan Xijing’s arms stood up. Even though she still had a pheromone-suppressing patch on, Si Shao’s touch affected her deeply. She could barely stay standing—but she wasn’t Wei Feng. She didn’t have to force herself to act tough. If her legs were weak, she might as well lean into Si Shao.
Si Shao wrapped an arm around her waist and said, “Xiaojing, everything I do for you—I do willingly. But don’t push me, or I don’t know what I might do.”
“…I’m tired. Let’s go home. To your place. I’ll call my parents in a bit.”
“Alright.”
Since Yan Xijing couldn’t walk properly, Si Shao just scooped her up and carried her.
At Si Shao’s house, she carried Yan Xijing all the way to the bedroom. Yan Xijing buried her face in Si Shao’s chest and stayed silent the whole way.
After placing her gently on the bed, Si Shao headed to the bathroom to shower. She needed to calm down—otherwise, she might hurt Yan Xijing, and she knew that.
Yan Xijing stared at the closed bathroom door, her mind in chaos. She was thinking about Si Shao, about everything that had happened between them lately—wondering how long their relationship could really last.
When Si Shao came out, Yan Xijing was still in a daze. Si Shao leaned in to kiss her, but Yan Xijing stopped her.
“What? I can’t kiss you now?”
“You can… But not like this, not while you’re still upset. Let me take a shower first.”
“Go ahead.”
Now it was Si Shao’s turn to sit on the bed and stare blankly.
After her shower, Yan Xijing came out and sat on the other side of the bed. Si Shao grabbed the hair dryer to dry her hair, but Yan Xijing caught her wrist.
“Dry it later, or you’ll catch a cold.”
“I won’t. I’ve filmed scenes in the rain for hours and never caught a cold. I’m pretty tough. Si Shao, let’s talk.”
Si Shao declined. “Let’s dry your hair first. We’ve got the whole night to talk—there’s no rush.”
“Alright, you do it.”
Si Shao dried her hair very gently. She loved this silky head of hair—and she treated every part of Yan Xijing with the same tenderness.
When she finished, she pulled Yan Xijing into her arms and leaned back on the bed. “Alright. Say what you want to say.”
“I don’t like you controlling every part of my life. I have the right to interact with whoever I want. That’s something you don’t get to decide.”
“Xiaojing, I can’t just sit back and watch. If someone doesn’t have ulterior motives, I won’t say anything. But he does, and I can’t just stand by while you get close to someone like that—especially if you two might end up working together.”
Hearing that hit a nerve. Yan Xijing got angry. “So what if I do work with him? You don’t trust me at all, do you? What, you think I’m going to sleep with him just because we collaborate? Who do you think you are, telling me who I can and can’t work with? Well, guess what—I am going to work with him. Deal with it.”
“That’s fine. You’ve never listened to me anyway. But I have other ways of making sure he won’t dare continue the partnership.”
Her voice didn’t even rise, but it was enough to convince anyone she meant exactly what she said.
Yan Xijing didn’t doubt her—not even a little. Si Shao had done this kind of thing before. More than once.
“You’re suffocating me, Si Shao. If you can’t trust me, maybe we should just end things here.”
“What does ‘trust’ mean to you? Letting you get close to someone else? Letting you leave me? If that’s what trust is, then no—I really can’t do that.”
Yan Xijing had worked with plenty of Alphas before, and Si Shao didn’t interfere with all of them—only the ones who clearly had feelings for her. And she could always tell.
To Yan Xijing, it felt like they were speaking completely different languages. “I chose to be with you. If we ever break up, I’ll do it the right way. As for who I work with—that’s not your decision. I’ll leave that to Brother Yang. If he says it’s a good collaboration, I’m going ahead with it.”
