The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 25
Chapter 25: They Argued
Si Shao looked at the sleeping Yan Xijing, her heart softening. But after just a glance, she quietly went downstairs. Since she was asleep, there was no need to wake her.
“Aren’t you staying over, Xiao Shao?”
“No, Auntie. I have to be at the office early tomorrow, so I’ll head out now.”
“Alright then. Come earlier tomorrow.”
“Mm.”
Although Si Shao didn’t wake Yan Xijing, when Yan Xijing woke up, she could still smell Si Shao’s scent. Even without seeing her, she knew Si Shao had been there.
Sneaking in but not waking her up—that was exactly something Si Shao would do.
Yan Xijing sent her a sleepy emoji, then headed off to film.
When Si Shao saw the message, she immediately knew that Yan Xijing had found out she had come over secretly. Thinking of how alluring and relaxed Yan Xijing must have looked waking up that morning, Si Shao’s mood lifted.
But good mood or not, she still had someone investigate Wei Feng. This man had feelings for Yan Xijing, and she had to know exactly what kind of person he was.
On Yan Xijing’s side, she had just wrapped up work when she ran into Wei Feng again.
Wei Feng seemed in high spirits. Seeing Yan Xijing, he cheerfully waved. “Xiao Jing!”
Since they were old classmates and she had recently rejected him, Yan Xijing felt a little awkward. She walked over and offered, “Today’s meal is on me—as a way of apologizing.”
“I’m not that petty. I just wanted to tell you I’m not upset. If the project isn’t right, then it’s fine. We can work together next time. This is for you.”
After speaking, Wei Feng retrieved a bouquet of foxtail lilies from the passenger seat.
Seeing the type of flower, Yan Xijing felt it was appropriate and accepted it. If Wei Feng had any romantic intentions, he wouldn’t have chosen this kind of bouquet. “Thanks.”
“I’ve got other things to do. Just came to see you. As old classmates, I don’t want any misunderstandings between us. Let’s have a proper meal another time.”
“Sure.”
Every word Wei Feng said was hard to refuse, so Yan Xijing agreed to another meal with him.
Thinking of Si Shao made her head hurt. If Si Shao found out, she’d definitely get jealous again. Sigh…
On Si Shao’s end, while she didn’t know about the dinner plan, she had already discovered the real reason Wei Feng returned from overseas.
“So that’s how it is.”
Si Shao looked at Wei Feng’s file and frowned.
“Boss, should we take care of this guy?”
“Don’t talk nonsense. We’re law-abiding citizens. What do you mean, ‘take care of’? But… this guy really is a bit tricky.”
(…Wait, didn’t you just say—?)
“You go handle your stuff. I’ll think about it some more.”
What troubled Si Shao most was that she didn’t want Yan Xijing to know she was behind anything involving Wei Feng. So, she called Shen Ruzhu.
“President Si, does your little princess know what you’re asking me to do?”
“Of course not. That’s why I’m asking you. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re well compensated.”
Shen Ruzhu made a few “tsk” sounds, then said, “Fine. Since you want to play the good guy, I’ll do the dirty work. Don’t worry—I’ll make sure it’s clean.”
“I trust you.”
“Alright, hanging up.”
Just a few short words between the two decided another person’s fate for the next few months, or even years.
Yan Xijing, completely unaware, continued filming as usual.
But just a few days later, before she even had the chance to eat with Wei Feng, she heard that something had happened to him.
When she saw the news, she immediately called him. “Wei Feng, are you okay?”
“Don’t worry, I’m fine. Just pissed off the wrong person. I’ll handle it.”
His voice sounded exhausted. Even without seeing him, she could tell he hadn’t rested in days.
“If you need help, let me know.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Yan Xijing read the full report carefully:
“Shocking! Up-and-coming director Wei Feng was once involved in a drunk driving incident overseas that caused injury!”
Below the headline was a public apology letter from Wei Feng. He admitted his past mistake and explained that the victim had since fully recovered.
The comments were mixed. Some said everyone deserves a second chance. Others harshly criticized him, saying drunk drivers are scum, and accused him of fleeing abroad and returning home just to make dirty money.
The more Yan Xijing read, the more it didn’t sit right with her. Wei Feng had been back for a while now—why was this only being exposed now? Was someone targeting him?
No, that didn’t make sense either. He hadn’t even started working on a project yet. Who would consider him a rival?
Then she remembered what Wei Feng had said: “I pissed off someone I shouldn’t have.”
That someone… had to be Si Shao.
Realizing this, Yan Xijing immediately called her.
Si Shao was in a meeting, but the moment she saw the call, she stepped out to answer. “Xiao Jing, what’s wrong?”
“Did you do this to Wei Feng?”
“Xiao Jing, what are you talking about? What happened to him? I don’t know anything.”
Si Shao had no intention of admitting to anything. In fact, she had been merciful—she only leaked something that was still somewhat redeemable.
“Don’t play dumb. Who else could it be? Si Shao, what’s your problem?! There’s nothing between me and him. Why would you go after him?!”
Yan Xijing was truly furious. From her perspective, she had already kept her distance from Wei Feng, yet Si Shao still didn’t trust her.
Calmly, Si Shao replied, “I didn’t go after him. Xiao Jing, believe it or not, I wasn’t behind it. And anyway, if he truly had nothing to hide, no one could have exposed anything, right?”
“Si Shao!!”
“Don’t get upset. If you want me to help him, I’ll step in. It’s not worth getting angry over something like this.”
Yan Xijing was speechless. She didn’t even know what to say anymore—so she hung up.
After getting hung up on, Si Shao calmly returned to her meeting. Once it ended, she headed straight to see Yan Xijing. She knew this kind of thing couldn’t be smoothed over on the phone.
Yan Xijing didn’t let her personal emotions affect filming. After the morning scenes wrapped, she saw Si Shao’s car.
It wasn’t like she wanted to recognize it instantly—but Si Shao had brought her deep blue sports car. If she wasn’t blind, there was no way she wouldn’t see it.
When Si Shao saw that filming was over, she got out of the car and approached. Not wanting to draw attention, Yan Xijing had no choice but to get in the car with her.
As soon as they were in, Si Shao handed her a thermos lunch box.
