The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 26
Chapter 26: Delivering Lunch
“Si Shao!!”
“Xiao Jing, even if you’re angry, you still have to eat first. After you eat, whatever you want to do to me is fine. Even asking me to help him is okay.”
Si Shao’s tone was especially gentle, like coaxing a disobedient child.
But Yan Xijing wasn’t a child. The more Si Shao spoke like this, the angrier she became. Still, she wouldn’t take it out on the food—eating came first. Si Shao always used delicious food to placate her.
Seeing Yan Xijing start eating, Si Shao felt relieved. If she was still willing to eat the meal she brought, it meant she wasn’t that angry.
Si Shao had prepared food that wasn’t messy or soupy, so it was convenient to eat. After Yan Xijing finished, Si Shao proactively packed up the lunchbox and even leaned in to kiss her on the lips.
Yan Xijing reacted quickly and pinched Si Shao’s arm. “What are you doing?!”
Si Shao wasn’t bothered at all by the “attack”—it didn’t even hurt. She smiled and said, “Wiping your mouth.”
“Si Shao! I’m not joking with you! Can you be serious?!”
Worried she’d push Yan Xijing too far, Si Shao stopped smiling. “Alright, alright, I’ll be serious. But I swear, I really didn’t do anything to that Wei Feng. Really. If I had made a move, he wouldn’t even be able to recover for the rest of his life.”
Si Shao said this with no hesitation, because technically, it wasn’t her who made the move—it was Shen Ruzhu whom she had asked for help. She even thought Shen Ruzhu had gone too easy on him.
Yan Xijing heard what she said and knew even if she investigated, nothing would lead back to Si Shao. But at the same time, she became even more certain that Si Shao was behind it. “There’s nothing going on between me and him, so why do you have to interfere like this?”
“Xiao Jing, he doesn’t even know not to drink and drive. Why are you still associating with someone like that? He doesn’t value other people’s lives—or his own. Isn’t that true?”
Yan Xijing didn’t expect Si Shao to take the moral high ground like this. But she wasn’t wrong. Everyone knows drinking and driving is a big no-no, even kids. Wei Feng not only did it, he also hit someone.
Si Shao noticed Yan Xijing was wavering, so she pressed on:
“Xiao Jing, it’s not worth arguing over someone like him. He’s not only reckless, but I also asked Yang Xin—he said the project Wei Feng wanted you to collaborate on isn’t even solid. He’s just trying to use your status as classmates to draw in investors.”
Her words made Yan Xijing fall into deep thought. It… did seem that way. Though she still wanted to believe there was at least some old-school friendship between her and Wei Feng.
“Xiao Jing, sometimes you just need to go with the flow. Don’t overthink. This whole situation really has nothing to do with you.”
“I can’t win an argument with you—you always have these high-sounding principles waiting for me.”
Yan Xijing felt Si Shao was wrong somewhere, but couldn’t pinpoint what it was.
Si Shao gently ruffled her hair. “Alright, stop thinking about it. You don’t have to argue with me. If you’re upset, just hit or scold me instead.”
“I’m not some violent maniac. Why would I hit or scold you? Annoying!”
Feeling frustrated, Yan Xijing turned away from her.
“Xiao Jing, I just want you to be happy. As long as you’re happy, I’ll do anything.”
“I’m done talking to you. I have to film later. I’m still very mad at you, you figure out what to do about that!”
After saying that, she got out of the car and slammed the door shut with force.
Si Shao couldn’t let her leave just like that—she followed her to the lounge.
“Why are you following me?”
“To keep you company for a bit. I’ll go back to work when it’s time.”
Thick-skinned, Si Shao sat down on the bed in the lounge.
Yan Xijing turned away from her, but Si Shao sneakily placed her hand on Yan Xijing’s waist. This was just a temporary rest room on set—Yan Xijing couldn’t let Si Shao mess around. She had to turn and face her.
“What are you trying to do?! I’m trying to rest—can’t you see that?”
“I see. You rest, I won’t do anything.”
Yan Xijing didn’t believe a word of it. She grabbed Si Shao’s hand to stop her from moving, and somehow, holding that hand, she fell asleep.
Si Shao stayed still, not moving an inch, until half an hour later when Yan Xijing’s alarm went off.
Waking up, Yan Xijing saw Si Shao was still there. She gave her hand a strong squeeze and said, “Why haven’t you left yet?”
“Didn’t want to wake you. I still have time. I’ll go when you’re back on set.”
“Carry me up.”
“Okay.”
Si Shao picked her up and only left after seeing her back to filming. If Yan Xijing let her carry her, she probably wasn’t that mad anymore.
She really wasn’t. Yan Xijing’s temper never lasted long. Maybe because she was in a good mood, the afternoon shoot went smoothly too.
During a break, the male supporting actor Han Yu—an A-class omega—sat beside her. Though they hadn’t spoken much during filming, they could chat a little.
“Miss Yan, President Si came to see you earlier.”
“Yeah, she brought me lunch. Why?”
“Nothing really. Just… jealous. You have such a great fiancée. When will I find a hot and rich alpha like President Si?”
Just thinking about it, Han Yu couldn’t hide the longing in his voice.
Seeing Han Yu meant nothing more by it, Yan Xijing replied casually, “We grew up together. If you’re looking for someone like her, good luck—she’s one of a kind.”
“Really? Sigh, probably true. Good alphas are rare, and someone like President Si… you won’t find another even with a lantern in daylight. I guess I’ll just stay single—it’s safer than getting my heart and wallet broken.”
Han Yu was only 22, practically a newcomer. He’d tried dating before, but things always ended quickly. At most, there were just a few casual touches—never anything serious.
“Young people, love can still be beautiful. Don’t give up so easily. Sure, President Si is hard to come by, but there are still decent ones out there.”
“Miss Yan, that’s not funny at all… sob sob sob…” Han Yu pretended to cry, wanting to continue the conversation, but the director called them back to set.
That evening, just as Yan Xijing finished filming, she saw Si Shao’s car again.
