The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Attending the Banquet
Si Shao looked into Yan Xijing’s eyes, and no matter how she tried, she just couldn’t stay mad. “Alright, let’s head to the banquet first. After it’s over tonight, let’s go for a walk.”
“Mm.”
The two of them soon arrived at the banquet hall. As soon as they entered, they immediately attracted everyone’s attention.
Si Shao didn’t like events like these. Whenever she attended, her face was always expressionless—except when she looked at Yan Xijing. Only then did her eyes reveal a trace of softness. Yan Xijing, on the other hand, thrived in these settings. She was always in her element, charming and chatty with everyone.
While Si Shao was talking business with a few partners, Yan Xijing got bored and went to the buffet. The banquet hall was high-end and the food was exquisitely presented in small portions, so she wasn’t worried about gaining weight.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the famous star. What brings you here with President Si today?”
The newcomer wore a pink cocktail dress and, in Yan Xijing’s opinion, was at best passably pretty. Over the years, people like this who tried to provoke her were endless, but she never took them seriously. She knew Si Shao only had eyes for her.
“As long as our Si Shao wants me to come with her, I always have time. Why? Jealous?”
“What’s there to be jealous of? I just think, if you don’t like President Si, you might as well break off the engagement. There are plenty of people dying to pursue her. She doesn’t have to be stuck on you.”
Yan Xijing laughed like she’d just heard a joke. Then she said, “You’re not qualified to want us to break off our engagement. And even if we did, it still wouldn’t be your turn.”
“You—!”
“Enough. You’re not even in the same league. Don’t bother trying. In the entertainment industry, I’ve seen all kinds. You don’t even come close.”
After chasing the girl off, Yan Xijing casually resumed eating. But before she could get a few more bites in, a man approached and sat beside her.
She glanced at him but didn’t say anything. She recognized him—it was Shen Ruyu, the second son of the Shen family. They weren’t familiar, and she had nothing to talk about with him.
“You’re Si Shao’s fiancée, Yan Xijing?”
“You already knew that.”
Everyone with functioning eyes knew that she was engaged to Si Shao.
Shen Ruyu didn’t mind her curt response. He didn’t even flinch. “Miss Yan, you’re so young and beautiful. Are you sure it’s worth tying yourself down with Si Shao?”
“Whether it’s worth it or not—what’s it got to do with you?”
Yan Xijing enjoyed being admired by men, but that didn’t mean she accepted just anyone. Shen Ruyu seemed fake from the start—people like him were the most boring.
“Of course it matters. You’re so stunning. I fell for you at first sight. If possible, I’d love to invite you out on a date.”
Just as he finished speaking, Si Shao appeared behind Yan Xijing and interrupted coldly, “Don’t bother dreaming. Xiaojing would never go on a date with you. Trying to hit on someone else’s fiancée? Young Master Shen, you’ve really stooped low.”
“Well, I’m certainly no match for you, President Si. So young and already in charge of Dingtian Group.”
Shen Ruyu had always been thick-skinned. Neither Yan Xijing’s nor Si Shao’s words fazed him.
“That’s only natural. But your older brother is quite something too. Taking over Tianhua Group at such a young age—you’ve got it easy now. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.”
Si Shao had business dealings with Shen Ruyu’s older brother, Shen Ruzhu, and they got along well. So she was familiar with the Shen family dynamics and knew exactly how to poke Shen Ruyu where it hurt.
And she did. Her words clearly implied he was useless. If not for his older brother, how could Shen Ruyu ever stand a chance against her?
Seeing Shen Ruyu’s face darken as he walked away, Yan Xijing laughed and hooked her arm around Si Shao’s. “Baby, you just scarred poor little Shen’s fragile heart. Was that really necessary?”
“He had it coming. Trying to seduce you? Besides, I was being polite. At least I didn’t call him outright useless.”
Si Shao didn’t bother lowering her voice. Shen Ruyu, who hadn’t gone far, clearly heard every word. He paused slightly, then hurried his steps.
“Hahahaha…” Yan Xijing hadn’t been to an event like this with Si Shao in a while and didn’t expect such drama—it was surprisingly entertaining.
Si Shao ruffled her hair affectionately. “Wait for me a bit longer. I’ll wrap up here soon.”
“Mm.”
Maybe because of the scene with Shen Ruyu, no one else dared approach Yan Xijing after that. She snacked a bit more, then got bored and turned to her phone, checking trending topics.
As expected, news of her and Si Shao attending the banquet had shot to the top of the hot search. Their CP (couple pairing) fans were going wild in the comments.
“Ahhh! So perfect together!”
“CEO x Superstar—it’s like a romance novel come to life!”
“Did you see the look in the CEO’s eyes? So doting! Ahhh!”
“Ahhhhhhhhh!”
“Kill me now, this is too much!”
Yan Xijing scrolled through for a while, genuinely amused. It was only when reading posts like these that she felt she and Si Shao truly matched.
When Si Shao finished her business and returned, she saw Yan Xijing reading their news and felt a burst of sweetness in her heart. “Alright, I’m done. Let’s go for a stroll.”
“Okay.”
Because of Yan Xijing’s celebrity status, they couldn’t go anywhere too public. They opted for a private club or somewhere more discreet.
Si Shao took her to a private hot spring resort owned by one of her business partners. She was a top-tier VIP there. As soon as they arrived, they went to their exclusive suite—it had everything and complete privacy.
“You’re always busy. Take this chance to relax. I’ll take you home later. Or if you don’t want to go, we can stay here.”
“Let’s go home. I don’t like staying out overnight.”
“Alright.”
They quickly changed and soaked in the hot spring. The heat flushed Yan Xijing’s face, making her look even more beautiful.
Si Shao couldn’t resist moving beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. Her eyes drifted to the scent patch on the back of Yan Xijing’s neck.
“Baby, what are you thinking about?”
Yan Xijing turned around, looped her arms around Si Shao’s neck, and smiled. “Thinking about tearing off your scent patch—temporary marking. Okay?”
