The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 31
Chapter 31: Found One
In a panic, Liang Rui was about to call Bai Hui again, but Bai Hui’s call came through first.
“Xiao Rui, Yan Xijing is already on the train. She will come back.”
Though Bai Hui said that, she didn’t feel confident inside. Sure, taking the train meant she was on her way, but how long would it take? And could Si Shao last that long in her current state?
Liang Rui was about to speak when Si Hengyu took the phone from her. “Bai Hui, you should understand how dangerous Xiao Shao’s current situation is. There are signs before a full outbreak. She must’ve started feeling off days ago. Yet Xiao Jing, as her omega, didn’t notice at all. And now she’s nowhere to be found. So—I’m preparing for both possibilities. If Xiao Jing can’t make it in time, I will let Si Shao bond with another omega.”
His tone was calm, void of emotion, but Bai Hui knew Si Hengyu was angry. And rightfully so—this couldn’t be blamed on him. Anyone would be upset. Honestly, his attitude was already considered quite restrained.
“I understand. Si Shao’s safety comes first,” Bai Hui replied.
“As long as you understand.”
Si Hengyu hung up.
Liang Rui was already crying in anxiety. All she could do was stay in her husband’s arms and wait.
An hour later, the omega Si Hengyu had found arrived. Her name was Ruan Meng, the daughter of a close friend. She was only twenty and an A-grade omega.
When he saw her, Si Hengyu said, “Xiao Meng, this is an unfair request from me. But rest assured, if the two of you… Si Shao will take responsibility.”
“I understand, Uncle. I agreed to come because I really do like Si Shao-jie. I may not be in love yet, but I believe I’d be happy with her.”
Ruan Meng spoke with hopeful sincerity.
Si Hengyu nodded. “Let me check her condition first. If it’s possible, I’ll come get you.”
“Okay.”
When Si Hengyu went upstairs and opened the door, the scent of Si Shao’s pheromones was ten times stronger than in the living room. Si Shao was curled up on the floor, her bloodshot eyes staring at him. If she hadn’t recognized him as her father, she might’ve attacked.
“Xiao Shao, Yan Xijing is still out and can’t return in time. I’ve found another omega for you…”
He trailed off, unable to continue. He knew how much she loved Yan Xijing. He didn’t want this either, unless absolutely necessary.
Si Shao’s brain was foggy, but she managed to process what he said and immediately refused. “I don’t want it. Dad, I don’t want anyone else! Don’t let anyone in!”
“But you’re—”
“I can hold on. Don’t let anyone else in! I don’t want them!”
Even though her mind was slipping, her instincts were clear. She didn’t want anyone but Yan Xijing. No one else would do.
Si Hengyu knew that sending someone in now wouldn’t work. When she was fully unconscious, maybe then. So he left the room and shook his head.
Ruan Meng smiled. “It’s okay, Uncle. I’ll wait right here. I won’t leave.”
“Thank you, Xiao Meng.”
“No need to thank me.”
At this point, Si Hengyu had lost hope in Yan Xijing. He only waited for Si Shao to lose awareness completely. Once the bond was formed, even if Si Shao didn’t love Ruan Meng now, she would take responsibility, and feelings could always grow. Ruan Meng was a good girl. In time, Si Shao would come to like her.
Meanwhile, Yan Xijing was growing increasingly anxious. No one was answering Si Shao’s phone, and she didn’t even have the courage to call Si Hengyu or Liang Rui. What could she even say to the people who had watched her grow up? Any explanation now felt too feeble. She had to get back as soon as possible.
Two hours later, Si Shao had nearly lost all consciousness. Seeing this, Si Hengyu allowed Ruan Meng to go upstairs.
Ruan Meng had already been drawn in by Si Shao’s pheromones. When she got closer, she released her own apple-scented pheromones.
Even though Si Shao was no longer lucid, her instincts were strong. This wasn’t Yan Xijing’s scent—she knew that. So even in her dazed state, she pushed Ruan Meng away hard, then locked the door and shouted, “Go!”
Her voice was loud enough that everyone downstairs could hear it.
Si Hengyu was stunned. Even like this, Si Shao could still reject Ruan Meng? It was clear now—this plan wouldn’t work. All he could do was call the doctor.
The doctor advised him to prepare for hospital transport. If Si Shao completely lost consciousness, she needed to be taken in immediately. The hospital couldn’t ease her outbreak pain, but it could at least keep her alive.
“I’m sorry, Uncle…” Ruan Meng said, on the verge of tears. She hadn’t expected Si Shao to reject her. It was rare for any alpha—especially one in outbreak—to resist the scent of an omega. For Si Shao to do it… she must truly love someone else.
“It’s not your fault. We’ll wait a bit longer. If it still doesn’t work, we’ll go to the hospital.”
“Okay.”
Under normal circumstances, two hours could pass in a blink. But now, every second dragged painfully.
Finally, two hours later, Ruan Meng unlocked the door and went in again.
Si Shao was completely unaware now. When she smelled the omega, her instincts took over. Her red eyes locked on, and she lunged toward the scent. But the moment she touched Ruan Meng, she pushed her away again—hard. Then, she punched the wall, her fist leaving a bloody stain behind.
Ruan Meng was so frightened she collapsed on the floor. She didn’t understand. How could Si Shao resist even now? What kind of person had earned such devotion? Why couldn’t it be her?
Seeing this, Si Hengyu had no choice. He had her restrained and prepared to send her to the hospital.
When top-tier alphas encounter unfamiliar alpha pheromones during an outbreak, their instinct is to attack—sometimes even kill. That’s why alphas in this state are rarely taken to hospitals. It’s simply too dangerous.
Top-tier alphas are rare. Most already have bonded mates. So when one reaches this point, going to a hospital often doesn’t help anyway.
