The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Si Shao Wakes Up
“Mo Ning, you should leave for now.”
Yan Xijing wanted to wait at the hospital until Si Shao woke up. As for Mo Ning, she would apologize to him later.
“I’ll stay with you.”
Mo Ning didn’t want to leave. He was ready to sit beside Yan Xijing.
Si Hengyu saw this and said coldly, “If you’re leaving, then leave together. No need to perform some touching love scene in front of us. What, have you been acting for so long you’ve forgotten what normal people are like?”
Yan Xijing had never been spoken to like this by Si Hengyu before. She instantly felt chilled from head to toe. But leaving now? Absolutely not. “I want to wait for her to wake up. The person she most wants to see must be me. Uncle, please don’t make me go. Please?”
After speaking, she turned to Mo Ning. “Leave now. I don’t need you here.”
Anyone else would’ve gotten angry at Yan Xijing’s tone, but Mo Ning didn’t. He looked at her and said, “If I leave now, I won’t feel at ease.”
He then glanced toward Si Hengyu and the others.
Si Hengyu was instantly enraged by Mo Ning’s words. “Get out of here! The hospital isn’t a stage for you to perform! I don’t want to see either of you. Si Shao wouldn’t want to either!”
“Uncle…” Yan Xijing’s eyes welled with tears. Her mind was a mess. All she knew was that she didn’t want to leave.
Mo Ning was about to argue with Si Hengyu again, but thankfully Yan Xijing pulled him away just in time.
At the hospital entrance, Yan Xijing wiped her face and said, “Mo Ning, I told you—leave.”
“But they… they’re bullying you. Didn’t you see that? You didn’t do it on purpose…”
“I said leave! Didn’t you hear me?”
Thinking about how Si Hengyu yelled at her because of Mo Ning, Yan Xijing felt irritated. Her patience for Mo Ning was now completely gone.
Mo Ning pulled her into a hug and said, “Take it out on me if you want. Just don’t hurt yourself.”
Yan Xijing tried to push him away, but she wasn’t strong enough. She struggled and shouted, “Let go of me! I told you to leave! Don’t you understand?!”
“Go ahead, let it all out. Vent your frustration and anger. I just need to know you’re okay before I leave.”
Just as Mo Ning finished speaking, a voice came from behind—Yan Yi’s.
“When did my daughter’s well-being become your responsibility?!”
Upon hearing Yan Yi’s voice, Mo Ning had no choice but to let go of Yan Xijing, even if he didn’t want to. “Uncle.”
“Don’t call me that. I’m not your uncle. Don’t act so familiar. Yan Xijing, get over here!”
Yan Xijing hadn’t expected her dad to show up, but his timing was perfect—just when she needed help getting out of this situation.
“My daughter has me now. You can go.”
With that, Yan Yi pulled Yan Xijing away, not even glancing back at Mo Ning.
Seeing this, Mo Ning had no choice but to leave. With Yan Yi present, he no longer had any reason or right to stay.
Yan Yi led Yan Xijing into the stairwell where it was quiet and they could speak freely.
“Alright, explain. Who was that guy? Why were you with him?”
His rapid-fire questions caught Yan Xijing off guard, but she didn’t think she had anything to hide. “Just a coworker. We were on a business trip together. He was worried about me traveling back alone, so he accompanied me.”
“Yan Xijing, do you even believe your own excuse?! How did your mother and I raise a daughter like you? You created this mess—how do I face Si Hengyu and his family now?! If you didn’t like Si Shao, why didn’t you say so earlier?! Why didn’t you reject the engagement sooner?!”
Yan Xijing couldn’t answer. Her father’s questions cut deep because she knew—this was all her fault. From start to finish, it had been her mistake. She almost caused Si Shao’s death. If something had truly happened to her, she would never forgive herself.
Seeing his daughter’s tears, Yan Yi couldn’t bring himself to scold her further. “Fine. Come upstairs with me. Wait with us for Si Shao to wake up. Whatever she decides afterward, you must accept it. Understand?”
“I understand.”
Yan Xijing followed her father upstairs. Mo Ning was no longer there. Si Hengyu didn’t drive them away again, though he still ignored them completely.
“Xiaomeng, I’ll have someone take you home to rest for now. Thank you for everything. Once Si Shao recovers, I’ll ask her to treat you to a meal.”
Si Hengyu spoke kindly to Ruan Meng.
Ruan Meng nodded. “Then I’ll head out first. I’ll come back to see you tomorrow.”
“Alright.”
After Ruan Meng left, Si Hengyu returned to quietly sit beside Liang Rui, continuing their vigil.
Another full day and night passed with no sign of Si Shao waking. Liang Rui couldn’t hold on any longer, so Si Hengyu took her to a nearby hotel to rest. Then he returned alone to stay by Si Shao’s side. As for Yan Xijing and Yan Yi—he continued to ignore them.
Yan Xijing hadn’t rested since getting on the train. She hadn’t eaten much either. But with Si Shao still unconscious, she couldn’t eat or sleep. Yan Yi felt deeply sorry for his daughter, wanting to take her to rest, but she refused to leave.
“Dad, you go rest. I want to stay until Si Shao wakes up.”
Though her face was pale and her energy drained, Yan Xijing’s tone was firm.
Of course, Yan Yi wouldn’t just leave her like that. “I’ll stay here with you.”
And so, they waited another full day and night in the hospital. By noon on the third day, there was finally a sign of life—Si Shao moved.
Yan Xijing tried to move closer, but Si Hengyu and Liang Rui had already taken the front spots. She and Yan Yi had to wait behind.
Si Shao’s eyelids fluttered before she slowly opened her eyes. At first, she wasn’t used to the light and raised a hand to shield herself. Once adjusted, she lowered her hand.
“Dad, Mom, Uncle Yan.”
Yan Xijing had been waiting for Si Shao to call her too. But even after a long moment, nothing came. Left with no choice, she spoke first. “I’m sorry, I—”
“…Who are you?”
Si Shao looked at her in confusion.
Of all the scenarios Yan Xijing imagined while Si Shao was unconscious, this wasn’t one of them. She was stunned, unable to speak.
It was Si Hengyu who reacted first. “This is Uncle Yan’s daughter. She heard you were sick and came to visit you.”
“Oh, thank you then. But Dad, what illness did I have? I don’t remember anything.”
“You were just overworked. The doctor said you fainted from exhaustion. It’s my fault—I shouldn’t have left all the company responsibilities to you. How about this: I’ll go back and help out for a while. You can take time to rest.”
It was a simple lie, but no one dared to expose it. All they could do was watch Si Hengyu finish his explanation and wait anxiously for Si Shao’s response.
