The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Filming on Set
They had actually done temporary markings several times before. But even so, every time before it happened, Si Shao would still ask Yan Xijing first—she always fully respected Yan Xijing’s wishes.
“Of course you can. Go ahead.”
With Yan Xijing’s permission, Si Shao kissed her directly. The water in the hot spring was warm, but her heart was even warmer… Yan Xijing felt dazed and comfortable from the kiss. It wasn’t until the sticker was pulled off and she was bitten on the back of her neck that she came back to her senses a little. Just like before, it sent a tingling numbness through her. After the bite, she felt completely drained of energy.
In the end, Si Shao had to carry her out to change her clothes. Every time it came to dressing Yan Xijing, it was a serious challenge for Si Shao. She had to use all her willpower to keep herself from “crossing the line.”
Both of them were able to relax. Though not entirely, it was still comfortable. Since Yan Xijing had work the next day, Si Shao took her home early.
Before getting out of the car, Yan Xijing gave Si Shao a kiss—calling it a goodnight kiss.
When Si Shao got home, she was still a little dazed. Thankfully, the temporary marking meant she still carried Yan Xijing’s scent. That night, she was bound to have sweet dreams.
…
The next morning, Si Shao got up early to pick Yan Xijing up and take her to work. Although Yan Xijing loved to sleep in, she was always on time when it came to work. She was currently filming a wuxia drama. The crew had given her two days off, but she had scenes to shoot that morning and needed to go early for makeup.
“Sigh, being an actress isn’t easy. You have no idea how hard this drama is to shoot.”
“I told you before not to act anymore. It’s not like I can’t afford to support you. If you don’t want to be idle, just find something relaxing to do. We have money. You can do whatever you want.”
Every woman loves to hear things like that—and Yan Xijing was no exception. It sounded sweet, but that’s all it was: sweet talk.
“Acting is tough, but I really love it. Baby, can’t you just support me?”
“Haven’t I supported you enough? I invest in all your shows—isn’t that support?”
Si Shao was even careful not to make the investment look too obvious. She’d registered a small company just to back Yan Xijing’s projects, worried people would talk.
Yan Xijing smiled. “If you put it that way, then yes—you’re my supporter. But baby, your support doesn’t come from your heart. Deep down, you’ve never really accepted me being an actress, have you?”
“I… I didn’t mean I don’t accept it. I’m just jealous. Watching you act opposite other people—it makes me jealous. I keep telling myself it’s just work and it’s fine, but it doesn’t help. But I can tell you really love acting, so I’ll try harder to accept it.”
“You’re so sweet. Okay, I have to go now. I’ll contact you once I’m done.”
“Alright. Don’t forget to text me when you’re free.”
“Mm.”
…
After Yan Xijing got out of the car, Si Shao returned to her office. She always rearranged her schedule to match Yan Xijing’s. This time was no exception—she’d only freed up her time because Yan Xijing said she had two days off. As CEO of a company, Si Shao was always incredibly busy. But whenever she had a free moment, she thought about Yan Xijing. Many times, she even wanted to tie her to her side, have a baby together, and live as a family of three. But she couldn’t. She couldn’t bear to clip Yan Xijing’s wings herself.
The drama Yan Xijing was currently filming was a strong female lead story. Four different men in the plot loved her character, but in the end, she sacrificed herself for the greater good. The men all returned to their original places in life.
“Miss Yan, Mr. Zhao hasn’t arrived yet, so we’ll shoot the afternoon scenes first.”
“He’s not here? Why?”
Yan Xijing hated unprofessional people the most. Normally, anyone working with her would never dare to be late. Now that someone was, she was curious about the reason.
“Mr. Zhao’s younger brother is sick—he went to the hospital.”
“Sick? Is it serious?”
This production team was known for being strict. Unless something was truly serious, taking time off wasn’t allowed. That was one reason Yan Xijing had agreed to take the role.
The “Mr. Zhao” they mentioned was Zhao Zelin, an A-level alpha. He was the second male lead in this drama. Though he didn’t come from a powerful family, he had a good reputation and solid acting skills. Unfortunately, he never quite landed lead roles.
Yan Xijing had heard that Zhao Zelin’s parents had died in a car accident when he was eighteen. He was left to care for his then-three-year-old brother, who also had a congenital heart condition. Over his ten years as an actor, much of what he earned went toward his brother’s medical bills.
Given that he took time off, it likely meant something serious had happened to his brother. Yan Xijing didn’t think too much about it and went ahead to film her own scenes.
…
That afternoon, Zhao Zelin rushed over and went straight to Yan Xijing.
“Miss Yan! I’m so sorry—I didn’t mean to be late. Here, this is for you.”
He handed her a small orange-flavored cake.
Anyone who had worked with Yan Xijing knew she loved oranges—and anything orange-flavored—because her fiancée Si Shao’s scent was orange.
Yan Xijing accepted the cake. “Thank you. Is your brother okay?”
“He’s doing alright. Actually, I have a favor to ask you.”
Zhao Zelin scratched his head, looking a bit embarrassed.
“Go ahead.”
“Well… my little brother is your fan. He told me he wants to see what you look like in person. Miss Yan, would you be willing to visit him?”
Zhao Zelin wasn’t very confident when he asked. Though they acted in the same drama, he and Yan Xijing weren’t exactly close. They rarely talked off set.
“Okay.”
Zhao Zelin was stunned by how quickly she agreed. He had prepared for rejection and even had a whole speech ready to persuade her.
Seeing his stunned expression, Yan Xijing smiled and said, “You set the time and place—I’ll come.”
“Thank you!”
Thanks to her agreement, Zhao Zelin was overjoyed, and the afternoon scenes went incredibly smoothly.
That evening, Zhao Zelin asked the crew for Yan Xijing’s shooting schedule and confirmed the time with her assistant. They settled on going to the hospital two nights later, after they finished shooting for the day.
When Yan Xijing received his message, she replied with an “OK” emoji. Just as she sent it, her phone rang—it was Si Shao calling.
“Hello, Xiaojing, tired today?”
Si Shao had also been working all day and was still at the office. She had timed her call to match Yan Xijing’s schedule.
