The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 46
Chapter 46: Stay One Night
Yan Xijing spoke very softly, but Si Shao still heard her clearly. She hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, “Have a good rest.”
“Mhm!”
If it had been before, Yan Xijing would’ve hugged Si Shao and kissed her. But not now—she was afraid of doing too much and pushing her away instead. So, after getting Si Shao’s agreement, she obediently went into the lounge to sleep.
The lounge was filled with Si Shao’s scent. As soon as Yan Xijing lay down, she fell asleep. That scent brought her a strong sense of security, and she slept exceptionally sweetly.
That evening, after getting off work, Si Shao went to the lounge to wake her up.
Yan Xijing was still sleeping when she was gently nudged awake. When she saw Si Shao, her first instinct was to kiss her—because that was how she used to be. See her, kiss her.
Unfortunately, the Si Shao of now wasn’t so easily kissed. She took a step back and simply said, “I’m off work. Let’s go.”
“Oh.”
Yan Xijing, disappointed that she hadn’t gotten a kiss, got up reluctantly, washed her face, and left the building with Si Shao.
Si Shao had originally planned to walk her to her car, but once they got downstairs, Yan Xijing headed straight for her own vehicle. Seeing this, Si Shao said nothing and simply drove home herself.
At the set, Yan Xijing noticed the same actresses who had spoken ill of her were still there. When they saw her, their gazes dodged awkwardly, clearly wanting to say something but too afraid to.
“Fine. Just pretend I didn’t hear anything. I just need you to cooperate and help speed up the filming.”
When the actresses heard her say that, their faces changed. Since Yan Xijing wasn’t going to hold it against them, they knew they were safe. And since they were safe, they’d better behave and focus on acting—Yan Xijing wasn’t someone they could afford to offend.
Another month passed in the blink of an eye. Yan Xijing continued to bring food to Si Shao, doing so herself whenever she had the time so they could eat together.
Si Shao tried every possible way to reject her, but nothing worked. So she finally resorted to her last plan—she asked her parents, Si Hengyu and Liang Rui, to arrange blind dates for her. She figured that if Yan Xijing saw she was seeking someone else, she’d finally give up.
Yan Xijing had just wrapped her drama and hadn’t let her agent Yang Xin take on any new roles. She was planning to use her free time to pursue Si Shao even more aggressively. But the moment she arrived at Si Shao’s office that afternoon, Si Shao hit her with the news:
“I’m going on blind dates. If I meet someone suitable, I’ll get married. I think it’s about time you stopped this.”
“What did you say?”
Yan Xijing wasn’t sure she’d heard correctly. If Si Shao was dating, then everything she’d been doing for the past month had been for nothing. She couldn’t accept that.
“You’re going to get married… and you think I’ve just been messing around this whole time.”
Yan Xijing muttered the words, then gave a small, bitter laugh. “Fine. If you’re ready to end it, then let’s end it. But before you go on your blind date, let’s have one last meal together. A breakup dinner. What do you say?”
“Alright. Where?”
“I’ll let you know once I decide.”
“Okay.”
Si Shao could tell Yan Xijing was heartbroken and felt a bit of guilt. But she didn’t want to drag this out any longer—it would do neither of them any good. The sooner they cut things off, the better.
Yan Xijing chose to have the dinner at her city-center apartment—a place she stayed at occasionally and had regularly cleaned by a housekeeper. To avoid suspicion, she told Si Shao she wanted to cook a meal for her herself, which was why they’d be eating there.
Si Shao didn’t think an omega like Yan Xijing could pose a threat to her, so she agreed to go. Since they were about to part ways, she actually felt a bit of relief.
When she arrived, she found Yan Xijing really wearing an apron in the kitchen cooking. It wasn’t rare for omegas to cook, but it was rare for Yan Xijing to do it. Si Shao had never seen it before.
This was, in fact, Yan Xijing’s first time cooking. Her movements were awkward, but she wasn’t completely helpless. The recipe was clearly written out—she just followed it step by step.
After about an hour, dinner was finally ready.
“This is my first time cooking, so if it doesn’t taste good, feel free to say so.”
“Okay.”
Si Shao wasn’t a picky eater. Though the food wasn’t restaurant-level, it wasn’t bad either. She ended up eating quite a bit.
Yan Xijing ate too, but not much. She spent most of the meal watching Si Shao eat.
Afterward, Yan Xijing handed her a glass of juice and went to clean up the dishes herself. Si Shao offered to help, but was declined.
She figured this would be their last private moment together, so she wasn’t in a rush to leave. She waited for Yan Xijing to say whatever she needed to say.
After washing the dishes and making a quick trip to the restroom, Yan Xijing came back.
“All done. Say what you need to say.”
Si Shao had just finished her juice and set the empty glass down.
Yan Xijing sat beside her on the couch, turned to her and said, “I don’t have anything to say. I just want you to stay the night. If you do, I promise I won’t bother you anymore after this. Okay?”
Si Shao wasn’t a child. She knew exactly what Yan Xijing meant by “stay the night.”
“This isn’t a good idea. We—”
“Before you lost your memory, we did everything couples do. It’s not like I’m asking for that. Just one night. You don’t have a partner right now, so there’s no burden, right?”
As she said this, Yan Xijing didn’t look at her—she was nervously picking at her hands.
Si Shao prided herself on her self-control and didn’t want to be casual about things. So she said, “If I sleep in the guest room, that’s fine. But after tonight, there will be no more between us.”
“Okay.”
The two made that simple agreement, then went off to wash up and change. Everything they needed was already there—Si Shao had even left pajamas from her last visit.
After they were done, they sat together in the living room to watch a movie. It was actually Yan Xijing’s debut film, and she looked very young and green back then.
As they watched, Yan Xijing quietly took Si Shao’s hand. Si Shao tried to pull away, but in that moment, Yan Xijing suddenly kissed her.
“We’re about to part for good… one less kiss every time. I won’t do anything else tonight. Just… don’t push me away, okay?”
Her voice was soft—soft enough that no alpha could resist.
