The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 48
Chapter 48: Planning the Wedding
When Yan Xijing woke up again, it was already the next morning. She thought Shi Shao would have already left, but to her surprise, when she opened her eyes, Shi Shao was still there.
“You didn’t go to work?”
“I’ll go for a bit later. I’ll come back this afternoon so we can settle our matter,” Shi Shao replied coldly.
Her indifferent tone made Yan Xijing feel a little hurt, but she still smiled and asked, “Have you thought it through? What do you plan to do?”
“To make it easier for my parents to accept us, I’ll tell them I’ve regained my memories. As for your parents, you handle them. Tomorrow, both families will have a meal together to set the date. Also, notify your agent. After we get our marriage certificate, we’ll move into one of my villas in the city—I have two, so you can pick later.”
Hearing Shi Shao calmly and methodically arrange everything made Yan Xijing feel a bit down. Shi Shao was being responsible, yes—but that was all. What should have been a sweet moment felt like going through a checklist. But it was all her own doing—she had to live with it.
After Shi Shao finished saying what needed to be said, she went to the office, handled her business, and bought food before returning home.
Yan Xijing was starving. The moment she smelled the food, she dove in without hesitation. She had only had two bowls of porridge over the past couple of days—it was nowhere near enough.
“Eat slower, there’s plenty for both of us.”
Over the past two days, Shi Shao had only cooked two bowls of porridge for Yan Xijing and hadn’t eaten anything herself. Her heart had been too burdened to have an appetite. Now that she saw Yan Xijing eating so heartily, she ate a little more too.
After the meal, Yan Xijing wanted to help clean up but was stopped by Shi Shao.
“You haven’t fully recovered. Go rest on the sofa. I’ll handle it.”
“Oh.”
Right now, Yan Xijing only wanted to follow Shi Shao’s lead. She was afraid anything she said might upset her, so she obediently went to the sofa.
From the sofa, she could clearly see Shi Shao cleaning up. This kind of peaceful domestic moment—Yan Xijing hadn’t experienced it in a long time.
Soon, Shi Shao finished and joined her on the sofa. “Want some fruit?”
“No, you’ve been busy all day. Rest a bit. I’ll wash the fruit later.”
Shi Shao figured Yan Xijing was too full to eat more and didn’t insist. But sitting side by side on the sofa was a bit awkward.
Yan Xijing didn’t feel awkward at all. As soon as Shi Shao sat down, she leaned against her. “I should’ve married you earlier. If I had, none of the things after would’ve happened. We might even have a kid running around by now.”
“If we had a kid in our current situation, we’d be quite irresponsible.”
“I’ll try my best to be a good mom. You’ll definitely be a good mom, too. I don’t think we’re being irresponsible. But if you don’t want a child, I can go to the hospital right now. If I’m pregnant, I’ll terminate it.”
Modern medical care has advanced a lot. It’s common for omegas to get abortions. Though there is some harm, it’s not too serious. With proper care, they can recover in a year or two—as long as they avoid another pregnancy during that time.
However, hearing that made Shi Shao frown. “I don’t want to hear you say something like that again. I don’t like irresponsible people—whether to yourself, to me, or to the child that may already exist. Please be more cautious in the future. Some things simply shouldn’t be said.”
“I’ll be more careful from now on.”
“You like me because I’m responsible, right? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have tried to trap me like this, would you?”
Shi Shao could no longer change the fact that she had completely marked Yan Xijing. Since that was the case, she wanted Yan Xijing to change her ways. If they really had a child in the future, she couldn’t afford to keep being so reckless.
Yan Xijing had always been willful and did things her way. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have drugged Shi Shao. Now that Shi Shao had asked her to change, she made a mental note to try harder in the future.
They spent another night together before each returned to their respective homes.
As soon as Yan Xijing got home, she told Yan Yi and Bai Hui that she was going to marry Shi Shao.
Both were stunned at first. Bai Hui was the first to react, asking, “What’s going on? Why are you suddenly getting married? Shi Shao agreed? You didn’t do anything you shouldn’t have, did you?”
“Mom, what are you thinking? I didn’t do anything. She just regained her memory, and I don’t want to let go. So we decided to get married quickly, have a child, and settle down.”
That was the story she and Shi Shao had agreed on. They had to say the same thing so they wouldn’t slip up, and both families could accept the situation more easily.
Yan Yi said, “If what you’re saying is true, of course we support you. But Xiaojing, you have to promise us everything you just said is the truth. Your mom and I have already let her parents down once. We can’t do that again.”
“Don’t worry. There won’t be a second time.”
Yan Xijing made a solemn promise. She had decided to treat Shi Shao well and would never leave her. They’d have a lovely child and a happy future together, so her father’s concern was completely unnecessary.
Yan Yi and Bai Hui didn’t oppose the marriage itself. They were just worried this was another impulsive move, and if Yan Xijing hurt Shi Shao again, they wouldn’t be able to face the other family.
Over at Shi Shao’s place, when she told her parents she planned to marry Yan Xijing, Si Hengyu slammed the table in protest.
“Shi Shao! Do you even know what you’re saying? How many lives do you think you have? Are you trying to destroy yourself? Your mother and I raised you just so you could throw yourself away like this?!”
“Dad, calm down. I’m not acting on impulse. It’s because… I remember everything now. I remember it all.”
After Shi Shao said that, both Si Hengyu and Liang Rui fell silent. They knew very well how much she loved Yan Xijing before losing her memory. If her memory had truly returned and she still wanted to be with Yan Xijing, what could they possibly say to oppose her?
“Dad, Mom, I’m an adult. I can take responsibility for my choices. I love her. I can’t live without her. I want to marry her.”
Shi Shao had always been their pride and joy—excellent in every way, and loyal in love, just like every member of the Si family: once they’ve chosen someone, they never waver.
Right now, Si Hengyu truly wished his daughter wasn’t such a loyal person. If only she were fickle, maybe she wouldn’t get hurt so deeply.
