The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 6
Chapter 6: Xiaojing Is Angry
“Yes.”
“Really, Si Shao? You don’t even bother coming up with an excuse anymore? Let me tell you—if I wanted something with someone else, it wouldn’t matter how you stared at me. The way you’re acting—it’s suffocating, do you know that?”
Si Shao stayed silent for a while after hearing Yan Xijing’s words. After a pause, she softly said, “It won’t happen again. I’ll be more mindful.”
“Alright, let’s go home. I’m tired.”
“Okay.”
On the way home, Yan Xijing fell asleep in the car. Si Shao gently covered her with a small blanket. When they arrived, she carefully carried the half-asleep Xijing and the blanket together into the house.
After placing Yan Xijing on the bed, Si Shao gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead before stepping out.
When Bai Hui saw her, she greeted her warmly, “Shao, why don’t you stay the night? You’ve got a room here anyway.”
“Auntie, maybe not tonight. Xiaojing is upset. She said she didn’t want me looking at her. If she sees me again tomorrow, she’ll probably be even angrier. Auntie, maybe… don’t tell me about her schedule anymore. I think she wants me to trust her.”
“You sweet child… alright. Go home for now. I’ll talk to her about it.”
“Okay.”
After Si Shao left, Bai Hui went to find Yan Xijing.
Xijing had already woken up. She was about to take a shower when she heard the knock at the door. She didn’t need to guess who it was.
“Come in.”
Bai Hui entered and sat down. “Xiaojing, there’s something I need to tell you.”
“What is it?”
“It was me who told your driver and assistant to share your schedule with me. You’re always running around, and even if those people know your background, I still worry. So whenever you’re out alone with someone unfamiliar, I let Shao know so she can pick you up. I feel better when she’s there.”
Back when Yan Xijing entered the entertainment industry, the person most against it wasn’t Si Shao—it was Bai Hui. In her view, the industry was messy and chaotic. She feared her daughter would be influenced. So for years, she’d been extra cautious.
“Mom, did she ask you to cover for her? You helped someone spy on your own daughter. Do you even realize how messed up that is? She’s acting like a stalker.”
“I already said, Shao wasn’t spying on you. I was the one keeping track of your schedule. You’re my daughter. If she really had been spying on you, do you think I’d take her side? She actually told me today not to do this anymore—she said you’d be upset. I know I handled this poorly, and I won’t do it again. Just… take care of yourself.”
Bai Hui didn’t want this issue to drive a wedge between Si Shao and Yan Xijing. Even if she worried, she had to back off.
After hearing her mother’s explanation, Yan Xijing believed it. Her mom had no reason to lie about something like this—it would’ve been easy to expose.
Still, the fact that her own mother had done it left her speechless.
“Mom, if you’re really that bored, I’ll sign you up for some classes. Go find something fun to do instead of staying home overthinking everything.”
“Oh, get lost! Is that how you talk to your mom? Fine, whatever—you do whatever you want.”
Bai Hui huffed and left. Yan Xijing sighed, shook her head, and went to take a shower.
After she came out, she noticed three missed calls from Si Shao. Just as she was about to return the call, a fourth one came in.
“Xiaojing, did I wake you?”
“No, I just finished showering. What’s up with all the calls?”
She asked while towel-drying her hair.
“Nothing really. I just wanted to ask… I’m free tomorrow morning. Can I drop you off?”
“Sure. I need to be there by seven.”
Lately, her scenes had been scheduled early. She planned to rest a few days once this batch of shooting was done.
“Great, I’ll be there on time.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Si Shao finally felt relieved. She had been worried that Yan Xijing was still angry and would refuse to see her. Since she didn’t, she could use tomorrow morning to make it up to her properly.
Yan Xijing needed to do makeup at the set, so she was ready by 6:30. As soon as she stepped outside, she saw Si Shao’s car.
Si Shao got out holding a huge bouquet of blue enchantress roses and handed them to her. “Good morning, Xiaojing.”
“Good morning.”
Anyone would feel better receiving flowers first thing in the morning—and Yan Xijing was no exception. Her mood lifted immediately. Tucked into the bouquet was a handwritten card from Si Shao with a simple message: “Wishing you happiness every day.”
Inside the car, Si Shao handed her a small box. “Open it.”
Yan Xijing opened it and found a blue enchantress brooch inside, encrusted with gemstones—clearly expensive.
Gifts, flowers, and cards were Si Shao’s usual way of apologizing, but she never repeated herself. The flowers and gifts always matched. Yan Xijing could feel the care behind it.
“It’s beautiful. I really like it.”
“I’m glad. Do you have time tonight? If so, I’d like to book a restaurant—it’s been a while since we went out.”
To Si Shao, having dinner together meant she was truly forgiven. Everything had to follow Yan Xijing’s mood.
“I might wrap late tonight—around nine. Pick a place and we’ll grab a late bite.”
“Okay.”
After dropping her off, Si Shao reserved the restaurant before heading to work.
That evening, she showed up on time and picked Xijing up. They went straight to the restaurant. Because of Yan Xijing’s career, they usually chose private dining—quiet, discreet, and clean.
Since Xijing needed to maintain her figure, Si Shao ordered low-oil, low-salt dishes that wouldn’t cause weight gain.
Yan Xijing hadn’t eaten much all day. The aroma made her realize just how hungry she was, and she happily dug in.
Seeing her eat so well, Si Shao ate a bit more herself.
After dinner, Si Shao drove her home. They didn’t talk much in the car—normally, Yan Xijing would make conversation, but she’d had a heavy acting day and didn’t feel like chatting.
When they arrived, Si Shao unbuckled her seatbelt and kissed her lightly on the lips. “We’re home, baby.”
“Mhm. I’m too lazy to walk. Carry me inside.”
“Okay.”
Si Shao loved carrying her. Xijing was soft and fragrant in her arms, and there was no better feeling. When Bai Hui saw Si Shao carrying her daughter back, she knew they had made up and stopped worrying.
Si Shao gently placed her on the bed. Xijing kissed her on the cheek and said, “Alright. Head home early.”
