The Movie Queen Wants to Get Back with Her Ex - Chapter 8
Chapter 8: Feeling a Little Guilty
“Sure,” she replied.
Yan Xijing immediately understood what Xiao Ran was after—and she found him intriguing too.
They smoothly exchanged contact information and spent the next two days filming together. Once his cameo ended, Xiao Ran invited Yan Xijing to dinner.
Checking her schedule, she agreed.
He chose a high-end restaurant and booked a private room. As soon as they sat down, steak and red wine were served.
“Try this—I’m here often,” Xiao Ran said in a gentlemanly way, cutting the steak before offering it to her.
Yan Xijing tasted it, smiling faintly. “You must bring different people here regularly, Emperor Xiao.”
Xiao Ran chuckled. “I’ve been here with others. Don’t be so formal—just call me by my name.”
“Alright, Xiao Ran,” she smiled and looked him in the eye. “But you know I’m engaged. Are you sure you want to continue this?”
“An engagement is just an engagement, Xiaoyan. You’re still so young and haven’t even been with a male alpha before. Are you really locking yourself in forever based on this betrothal?” Xiao Ran pushed gently.
He’d met countless omegas but none who intrigued him like she did. Her agreeing to this dinner meant something.
“You know who my fiancée is,” she replied.
“I know. My Xiao family isn’t intimidated by the Si family. We’re both top-tier alphas, and I don’t think I’m inferior. I’m not asking you to commit now—just give us a chance. If you find me better, we can talk about changing the betrothal,” he said earnestly.
“You’ll need to try hard, then,” Yan Xijing teased, hiding a mixture of curiosity and guilt.
Xiao Ran was exceptional in every way—and she genuinely wanted to test herself, to see if she could be with someone else besides Si Shao.
“I will,” he assured her.
Thus, both harboring hidden intentions, they enjoyed a smooth, pleasant dinner. Afterwards, Xiao Ran offered to drive her home, but she declined. They weren’t that close yet—she wasn’t ready to let him walk her through her door.
Once home, her phone rang—it was Si Shao.
Thinking about Xiao Ran made Yan Xijing slightly uneasy, so she answered playfully: “Baby, missed me?”
“Mmm… I haven’t seen you all day. I missed you a lot,” Si Shao replied honestly.
“Can I do a video while I shower later?” Yan Xijing teased, then saw Si Shao tense up.
She laughed. “Just kidding. Let’s video chat after you get off work.”
“Okay,” came the reply.
“I’ll message you when I’m done.”
“Great.”
They hung up, and Yan Xijing took a shower before changing into her pajamas and studying the script in bed, waiting for the video call.
At almost ten, Si Shao’s call came in.
Yan Xijing wore a slightly sexy nightie—one that Si Shao had bought. She didn’t wear it often, but for special occasions, she would.
“Baby, do I look good?” she asked, camera focused above her waist. Even without makeup, she was stunning—natural beauty with a touch of sexiness.
Si Shao’s gaze darkened, her voice low: “Very beautiful. Baby, can I see the rest?”
“Are you asking for something naughty?” Yan Xijing replied, half-playful, half-serious.
“And if I am?” Si Shao teased.
Yan Xijing’s heart quickened. She was good at flirting but all her truly intimate moments were with Si Shao.
“Baby… I want to see.”
Si Shao sounded breathy, seductive. Overwhelmed, Yan Xijing repositioned the phone to frame her whole body. She could hear Si Shao’s breathing quicken…
The next morning, Si Shao woke up fresh and went to work. Yan Xijing, having no early scenes, slept in and arrived on set midday. After shooting, Si Shao had two short interviews—each under ten minutes.
“Ms. Yan, what’s your secret to keeping your relationship with Si Shao fresh?” a young omega reporter asked.
Yan Xijing replied: “We’ve grown up together, and we know what the other likes. We often prepare small surprises for each other.”
“Could you share an example?” the reporter pressed.
Masks of coy charm followed. Yan Xijing smiled: “That’s hard to share—beware, many of my fans are minors.”
The reporter flushed at the answer, but moved on: “Why did you choose this fantasy role?”
“Everyone has a fairy‑cultivation dream; I’m no different. I hope everyone enjoys the final result.”
“What type of roles are you considering next?”
“After finishing this, I need a break. Maybe a modern drama next.”
“Are you considering a move into film?”
“If the right script comes along, absolutely.”
The interviews ended, Yan Xijing took group photos with the crew and then touched up her makeup before calling it a day.
In the car, she received a message from Xiao Ran: “Free later? Wanna play basketball?”
She didn’t care much about sports, but agreed anyway—thinking she could bail early if it got boring. “Day after tomorrow afternoon.” She sent.
“I’ll pick you up then.”
“OK.”
Simple chat done.
On her way home, Yan Xijing closed her eyes, hoping Si Shao wouldn’t call in the next two days—she needed some freedom and space.
