The Necromance of Love and Death: Defeated Early in the Game, I Reincarnated as a Tragic Villainous Noble and Rebel Against the Scenario with My Beloved Using My Modern and Game Knowledge - Chapter 14
The next morning at breakfast, I told Vio and Madame Corantine that I would be traveling to the royal capital on Baltzarek’s back.
“That’s amazing!”
“Wow! You’re really going to ride on that dragon’s back?”
“I always thought it would feel incredible to ride on him!”
“Oh my, my husband will be so jealous. He’s always wanted to ride a dragon. Apparently, it’s a man’s dream or something.”
Honestly, I wouldn’t have been surprised if they refused. But instead, both of them were completely on board. Well, it would have been a problem if they said no, so this works out. Still, I couldn’t help but wonder—what happens if we fall? Maybe I just don’t have enough of that ‘romantic spirit’ they’re talking about.
“Clovis, I know it’s difficult, but please try to use your cutlery without making noise.”
“Yes… I’ll try.”
Just as I was lost in thought, Madame Corantine gently pointed it out.
Since I don’t have a left hand, I use a prosthetic with a fork attached at the end. But controlling it is harder than it looks. No matter how careful I am, the fork always ends up clinking against the dishes. Makes me realize just how important a wrist really is.
I could use my prosthetic as an excuse, but I don’t want to. I told Madame Corantine that, which is why she doesn’t hesitate to correct me. If I want to improve, I have to keep practicing.
“I’m sure this will be quite the topic at the tea party. Imagine telling everyone you arrived on a dragon!”
“Hehe, you’re right, Mother.”
Madame Corantine and Vio chuckled, probably picturing the tea party in the royal capital. It seemed like they had already decided that we would attend one. I had a feeling they would invite me, too. Guess I should brush up on my etiquette.
Vio didn’t seem too thrilled about practicing for tea parties, but she did seem excited about visiting the royal capital itself. Since I’m her fiancé, I should make sure I can escort her properly. I should probably learn about the city’s layout, famous spots, and sightseeing attractions.
And just like that, the two ladies enthusiastically agreed to the dragon ride.
I guess I need to prepare myself for this…
Should I make a parachute or something?
A Few Days Later:
“I’m leaving the rest to you, old man.”
“Understood. I will await your return.”
Thanks to my skilled servants, everything was ready for our departure in just a few days. Our luggage was neatly packed into large wooden crates, making it easy for Baltzarek to carry.
The older servants handled the preparations like it was second nature. Apparently, before I was born, my father used to travel to the royal capital on Baltzarek’s back quite often.
“Alright, let’s go.”
“Yes!”
“Hehe.”
Ahead of us, in the center of the garden, stood a massive black mountain.
Baltzarek.
His black scales shimmered like gemstones in the sunlight. It had been a while since I last saw him in daylight, but his size was just as overwhelming as ever. Even lying down, he looked like a small hill.
“Hurry up and get on.”
Baltzarek urged us impatiently. But… how were we supposed to climb up?
“Master, please use this.”
The old butler had prepared a slightly worn-out ramp. As the servants set it up, it created a sloping path leading straight to Baltzarek’s back.
“Thanks.”
After giving the servants a nod of appreciation, we finally climbed onto Baltzarek’s back.
Surprisingly, his scales were smooth and free of bumps. There was nothing to hold onto. Was this really okay? We weren’t going to fall, right?
“Wow! This is amazing!”
“So this is what a dragon’s back feels like.”
Vio was practically bursting with excitement, while Madame Corantine ran her hand over Baltzarek’s scales with deep admiration. Neither of them seemed worried at all.
Still… just in case…
“Baltzarek, we’re not going to fall, right?”
“Of course not. Don’t underestimate me.”
It wasn’t that I didn’t trust Baltzarek. But how could I not worry?
“Well… if you say so.”
“Geez, Clovis, you worry too much. You should enjoy this more!”
“Yeah… you’re right.”
“Then, we’re off.”
“Whoa—!?”
“Eek!”
As Baltzarek stood up, our view rose dramatically. We were already as high as the mansion’s roof.
Then, he grabbed the wooden crates containing our luggage and flapped his wings. In an instant, we lifted off the ground.
It felt unreal—like we had completely broken free from gravity, ignoring every law of physics and aerodynamics.
“We’re flying! Clovis, we’re actually flying!”
“Y-Yeah… Vio, could you calm down a little…?”
Vio clung tightly to my arm, completely overjoyed, while I was too busy worrying about when—or if—I might fall.
