The Necromance of Love and Death: Defeated Early in the Game, I Reincarnated as a Tragic Villainous Noble and Rebel Against the Scenario with My Beloved Using My Modern and Game Knowledge - Chapter 2
CHAPTER 2: A Promise to Baltzarek
“Welcome home, Young Master and Lady Violette. I can’t find the words to describe this situation.”
When Violette and I returned to the mansion, I had ordered my men, who were supposed to travel with me, to retrieve the bodies of my parents. Normally, I would join the search for my parents, but things are a bit hectic right now.
“Grandpa, first prepare a bath and some clothes. Then contact a craftsman because I urgently need a prosthetic leg.”
“Yes, Sir.”
After giving an order to the old man who was still lost for words, I turned to face Vio. She was still shyly hiding her stomach with her hands.
“First, let’s take a bath. We’re both dirty with bl00d and dust. After that, we can change our clothes.”
“Are you planning to bathe together?”
“I wouldn’t do such a thing.”
Vio seems to have much less faith in me as a man now, for some reason. Is it just my imagination?
“You go ahead, Vio. I have something to do first.”
“Really? Thank you,” Vio said.
“Please guide Vio to the bath.”
After giving a casual order to a maid, I walked out to the garden on crutches. While crossing the large garden, a building with a big double door came into my view.
“Sir, it’s dangerous there without the master around.”
“It’s all right; open the door.”
Ignoring the old man’s objections, I force him to open the large door to the monster mansion.
Suddenly, a strong smell of iron wafted through the air. I knew this was the smell of stuck bl00d.
“Hmm. Alfred’s son, isn’t it? Weren’t you supposed to be traveling today?”
As soon as the large door was opened, I heard a young man’s voice resonate directly in my mind. It must be Baltzarek’s telepathic communication.
“Now that I see you up close, you appear to be injured. How did you get hurt?”
“Baltzarek, I have something important to tell you today.”
“Hmm. Let’s hear it.”
At that moment, I sensed a movement in the darkness within the unlit mansion. I saw a pair of eyes, as if they were polished obsidian. They must be Baltzarek’s eyes. Those eyes kept getting closer and closer.
Emerging from the darkness was a large, black-scaled head resembling that of a giant crocodile.
This is the dark dragon, Baltzarek. He is the dragon my father had a contract with. My father had the gift of a tamer, and it seems that in his younger days he embarked on an adventure and made a contract with Baltzarek.
“Baltzarek, listen carefully. My father died.”
Baltzarek’s eyes narrowed.
“I see.” I knew human lives were short, but this is too soon. What happened?”
“We were traveling by a carriage. Suddenly, the carriage went out of control and fell into a ravine. He died instantly.”
“I see. He should have traveled with me.”
Baltzarek’s eyes closed, and I felt the sadness in his emotions. I could tell that he and my father had shared a strong bond with each other.
I decided to take a gamble, believing in the bond that he and my father have.
“Baltzarek, what if my father wasn’t killed by an accident but was murdered?”
At that moment, his eyes suddenly opened wide.
A resounding thud echoed, as if a heavy, hard object had collided with something.
Looking at the source of the sound, I saw that the hard stone floor had cracked and caved in. Baltzarek had struck it.
“Out of respect for the friendship I had with Alfred, I will warn you, as Alfred’s son. My dragon eyes can see through lies. If what you say is a lie, know that even if you are Alfred’s son, you will not go unscathed.”
I hadn’t heard of that ability!?
But if that’s the case…
To be honest, I’m scared. But I can’t afford to lose here!
“It’s true. I have evidence.”
“I know that.”
“It doesn’t seem to be a lie. Who killed my friend?”
“I will create an opportunity to find out. In return, lend me your power!”
Will he agree? Please, agree! To cut through the despair that lies ahead, I need Baltzarek’s power!
“Ahh…”
My voice echoed in the luxurious marble bathroom. I had to use crutches because I had lost my right leg from about twenty centimeters below the knee. The muscles all over my body became stiff. I must have used the muscles that must not be used.
Those stiff muscles were relaxing thanks to the power of the hot water. It felt incredibly soothing.
“But those memories of my past life… Though some parts are vague, they can be quite useful.”
Thanks to this, I was able to secure Baltzarek’s cooperation. It’s a step forward to avoid desperation.
In the game from my previous life, Baltzarek wasn’t by my side. If I continue on this path, I should be able to grasp a future different from the game.
“I can do it.”
I clasp both of my hands in front of my face, but what I saw with my remaining eye, the right one, was my left arm, which lost about twenty centimeters from the elbow.
“Really…”
I’ve become quite inconvenient.
I do feel the sense of loss from losing my limbs. However, the shock of losing both my parents at once is even greater, and it hasn’t fully sunk in me yet.
“Next, I need to arrange a meeting with Count Univille.”
What should I tell Vio’s parents…?
