The Necromance of Love and Death: Defeated Early in the Game, I Reincarnated as a Tragic Villainous Noble and Rebel Against the Scenario with My Beloved Using My Modern and Game Knowledge - Chapter 30
The Next Day at the Training Grounds:
“Phew…”
Amidst the fierce voices of soldiers echoing across the training grounds, I exhaled quietly and fixed my eyes ahead.
Standing before me was Enzo, holding his twin swords in a ready stance. Today, we weren’t using wooden swords. These were real, sharpened blades.
Since my swordsmanship had reached a certain level, we would now be training with real swords.
Well, in actual combat, we’d be using real weapons, so this was just training that better simulated real battle. The mithril sword in my right hand was slightly heavier than a wooden sword. I needed to get used to this weight.
Then, I casually twisted my left prosthetic wrist. With a sharp sharin sound, a blade extended from my wrist. Now, I was wielding two swords as well.
“Here I come!”
I gripped both swords and charged toward Enzo. He silently observed me.
With my right prosthetic leg, I kicked off the ground and stepped to the left. This new prosthetic leg had better grip than my previous one, allowing me to take larger steps.
The leg seemed to be working well. Now, time to test the prosthetic arm.
I took a deep step toward Enzo, entering the kill zone—where both of our blades could reach each other.
“Hyaah!”
Seeing Enzo brace himself for defense, I launched my attack. Twisting my upper body left, I swung my blade in an upward arc—a swift two-strike combo!
Clang! Clang!
Sparks flew as Enzo blocked both attacks.
So far, everything was going as expected. Next—
Enzo attempted to push me away with physical force.
Between him and me, it was like an adult against a child. Naturally, he was much stronger. There wasn’t enough time to dodge at this range, so I had no choice but to be pushed back.
But I had been waiting for this moment!
I let my body follow the force of Enzo’s push, arching backward.
Then, using that momentum, I leaped into the air.
My body naturally backflipped.
As I rotated midair, my right prosthetic leg hit Enzo’s chin in an upward kick.
“What—!?”
“Whoa!”
I landed back on the ground, and in front of me was Enzo, looking utterly bewildered.
“I… I lost. I didn’t expect a move like that. People say I’m pretty skilled, but watching you, Lord Margrave, is making me lose my confidence…”
“You’re exaggerating. That was just one lucky hit.”
“No, no, it might sound like I’m making excuses, but most people wouldn’t be able to land a hit on me this quickly.”
“You train with Vio, don’t you?”
“Lady Violette is a special case. She’s already stronger than me…”
Enzo glanced toward the center of the training grounds with a distant look in his eyes.
Following his gaze, I saw Vio engaged in a mock battle against three soldiers.
And from what I could tell, she was winning.
That was unbelievable.
“So this is what talent looks like…? Talent is cruel, isn’t it…”
“Yeah…”
Vio was growing stronger at an incredible pace.
I no longer felt jealous of her, but as a boy, I still wanted to be the one protecting her.
“Enzo, let’s go again.”
“Understood. I won’t lose this time.”
Enzo raised his twin swords once more.
I doubt any more tricky moves would work on him. If I wanted to win, I had to improve my physical strength.
On the Way Back from the Training Grounds:
“You managed to land a hit on Enzo? That’s amazing, Kuro!”
In the carriage on the way back from the training grounds, Vio hugged me tightly after I told her about my victory.
Vio had always been the type to express her emotions in a big way. She celebrated my success as if it were her own, even more than I did.
“Thanks, Vio. But you were amazing too, defeating three soldiers at once.”
I wrapped my arm around her back as I spoke.
After our match, Vio had struggled a little but had ultimately managed to defeat all three of her opponents. She had used her small frame and her Speed Star agility skill to its full advantage.
“Thanks, Kuro! I’m sure you’ll be able to do it soon, too.”
“You really think so?”
Honestly, I doubted it.
“If I could do it, then you can too!”
“I see. I’ll do my best.”
I might not improved as fast as Vio, but I’d keep pushing forward in my own way.
One day, I wanted to be strong enough to protect her.
“Absolutely!”
Vio’s radiant smile was full of unwavering belief in me.
“Oh, right, Vio, can you give me your hand for a second?”
“Hm? Sure.”
I took Vio’s hand and activated my lightning magic.
“?”
But Vio didn’t seem to feel anything.
“How is it? Does anything feel weird? Like tingling or numbness?”
“Not at all. Did you do something?”
“I just tried using a spell.”
So, it didn’t work on her after all.
In the game, status effects never worked on Violette. Just like in the game, undead seemed to be immune to status effects in this world, too.
When I had tried the same spell on Enzo, he had been so shocked that he dropped his sword. It seemed useful in battle, but I had to choose my targets carefully.
“A spell? What kind of spell?”
“Lightning magic.”
I pulled off the black cloth covering my left eye to show her.
“You have an eye!? Kuro, your eye grew back!?”
“No, no, it didn’t grow back. This is an artifact called a Magic Eye. When you wear it, you gain the ability to use magic. In this case, the lightning magic.”
“Oh wow! And it’s purple, just like mine! Can I wear one too? I want to use magic!”
“Uh… Unfortunately, wearing it makes you blind in that eye. I wouldn’t recommend it.”
“So it doesn’t actually restore sight… That’s kind of weird.”
