The Necromance of Love and Death: Defeated Early in the Game, I Reincarnated as a Tragic Villainous Noble and Rebel Against the Scenario with My Beloved Using My Modern and Game Knowledge - Chapter 35
We had decided to head to the dungeon in a week—and that week passed in the blink of an eye.
“Lord Clovis, Lady Violette, are you truly going?”
“Don’t worry, old man. We’ll definitely be back.”
“We’ll be fine, Grandpa. Thank you.”
In the square in front of Baltzarek’s mansion, Vio and I exchanged farewells with the gathered elderly retainers and maids.
“Lord Clovis, the food has been loaded! ”
“Lord Clovis, you are the only heir to the Marquisate of Barbastor. Please, don’t push yourself too hard—return safely.”
“Thanks, Jiro, Daniel. Wait for the good news.”
Vio, Charles, and I climbed onto Baltzarek’s back, waiting for our departure.
Are you ready?
“Yeah.”
Then let’s go
****
Baltzarek spread his large, jet-black wings and beat them once. With a gentle lift, his massive body rose into the air. As usual, his way of flying defied all sense of logic.
He continued to rise higher and higher, and the view below grew distant. The old men who had been waving to us looked so tiny now.
So, where are we heading?
“North, please. Let’s fly quickly until we reach the mountains. Once we’re in the range, slow down.”
Very well.
Baltzarek’s body, now high in the sky, accelerated northward.
Suppressing the tremble in my body, I looked down at the ground. I was the only one who knew the location of the dungeon. I desperately tried to recall the dungeon’s location from the game in my previous life.
If I remembered correctly, the dungeon was hidden somewhere within the northern mountain range. But saying it like that made it sound easier than it was—the search area was vast.
Whether I could actually find the dungeon like this was uncertain. But I had no other choice.
I had thought about spreading rumors among the local adventurers and letting them search, too. That would probably increase the chances of finding it.
But even if the dungeon was found, that wouldn’t guarantee I’d get the elixir.
If the adventurers found it, they’d probably enter it, even if I ordered them not to. And even if they discovered the elixir, there was no guarantee they’d sell it to me. They might use it on an injured companion.
So, I couldn’t rely on adventurers for this plan.
That’s why I had to go to the dungeon myself and secure the elixir.
“Hey, Clovis. Dungeons are so exciting, aren’t they?”
“Yeah, they are.”
Vio had been in high spirits since yesterday, clearly looking forward to this dungeon expedition. For her sake too, I had to make sure we found it.
Still, I found it a little odd that Vio was this excited about tackling a dungeon. Was she just thrilled by the idea of real combat? Well, better than her being scared, I guess.
“What kind of dungeon is it?”
“Uh… It’s like ruins from an ancient civilization. Since it’s unexcavated, we might stumble upon some incredible treasure.”
“Awesome!”
Well, I already knew what kind of dungeon it was and what items were inside, thanks to the game.
The elixir was undoubtedly the dungeon’s star item, but there were other useful things to be found too.
I could leave them for the protagonist, but they weren’t essential to the main story, so I figured I might as well take everything for myself.
“Hmmm…”
I carefully scanned areas in the shadows of the mountains, searching thoroughly for the dungeon. But it still wasn’t easy to find.
In the game, it was highlighted clearly—probably because it was, well, a game.
“It’s not showing up, huh…”
“Mewww…”
Even Vio was starting to look bored from not finding the dungeon. She picked up Charles and started playing with her like a doll. Charles looked displeased but went along with it anyway.
Time continued to pass with no dungeon in sight.
My stomach was starting to growl.
“Let’s take a lunch break. Baltzarek, could you land somewhere suitable?”
“Understood.”
Baltzarek gradually descended and landed in a grassy basin surrounded by mountains
“Whew…”
My body had grown stiff from staying in the same position too long. Stretching felt so good.
After dismounting from Baltzarek, a refreshing breeze brushed my cheeks. It was the perfect day for a picnic. Maybe Baltzarek had picked this spot with that in mind.
“Well then, let’s eat. Jiro made us some lunch boxes.”
“Ooh, I wonder what’s inside?”
“Myaa~”
Charles let out a spoiled meow and rubbed up against my legs.
“Don’t worry, Charles, we brought yours too.”
“Did you bring anything for me?”
“I didn’t bring any cows, unfortunately. Sorry, but you’ll have to hunt for yourself.”
“I see…”
Baltzarek looked across the grassland, then beat his wings and took off.
****
“I’ll go hunt.”
“Thanks.”
“Think nothing of it. This isn’t so bad once in a while.”
With that, Baltzarek soared off into the sky.
