The Necromance of Love and Death: Defeated Early in the Game, I Reincarnated as a Tragic Villainous Noble and Rebel Against the Scenario with My Beloved Using My Modern and Game Knowledge - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Report to Charles
“I’ll come back later. Be good, Vio.”
After leaving Vio’s room and closing the door, it was then that my strength gave out, and I fell to my knees.
I’m low on magic power. These are the initial symptoms of magic depletion.
“Young Master!?”
“I’m fine, old man. Just make sure you get me some magic recovery potion to restore my magic power.
“Understood.”
I watched as the old man gave instructions to the maid.
With the magic power I squeezed out, I managed to wake Vio.
However, Vio will probably fall asleep again soon. My magic power is not enough for her to continue functioning normally.
I must do something.
From the memories of my previous life, it seems that defeating monsters will help me level up and increase my stats. First, I need to level up and increase my total magic power.
“Before that, I need to improve my combat abilities.”
In my previous life, I left the fighting to Vio and focused on supporting her in the game.
And in the game, she was incredibly strong.
She once told me that her gift is Speedster, which makes her faster.
However, in the game, Vio’s strength couldn’t be explained by that gift alone.
It was normal for the protagonist to act two or three times before I could act even once. Their attack power was also powerful. Moreover, physical attacks almost never hit them, and their evasion skills were so unreal that even area-of-effect magic spells only occasionally landed.
This is probably due to their gift, which allowed them to move that fast like Vio.
In comparison to what I was doing, I was merely healing Vio or using items to hinder the protagonists.
In the game, I focused on mastering alchemy, which left me with no combat abilities. It was a bit uncool.
There was also no other way but to master alchemy. However, the reason for mastering alchemy can be dispelled with the knowledge I have from the game.
This means the paths I can take are limitless… or not.
I want to use my magic power for Vio, so I prefer to conserve it. Therefore… It seems better for me to become a warrior too.
“Once everything is settled, I will learn swordsmanship with her.”
“That’s right. I wonder how Charles is doing?”
After drinking the magic recovery potion prepared by the old man and lying down on the bed in my room, I suddenly became curious about Charles and sat up.
“Charles is family too, so I need to tell him about my parents.”
As soon as I stepped out of the bedroom, the maid who had been waiting nearby hurried over.
“Master Clovis, you must rest…”
‘I haven’t greeted Char yet. I’ll lie down again when I’m done greeting him.
If so, I will bring Char here with me. You can rest now.
I’d appreciate it if you would.
Yes, sir.
I sat on the sofa in my room, fighting off my sleepiness and waiting for about five minutes. Finally, the maid arrived carrying a basket.
“Master Clovis, I have brought Charles.”
“Thank you.”
As the basket was gently placed on the table, a black object with triangular ears popped its head out. It was Charles, the black cat.
As soon as Charles saw my face, he jumped out of the basket and went onto my lap.
“It’s been a while, Charles, well, not really. We just saw each other this morning. But it feels like I haven’t seen you in ages.”
Charles looked up at me with an expectant face, clearly wanting to be petted.
When I tried to pet Charles as usual, I remembered that my left hand was gone.
Right. My left hand…
Seeing my missing left hand, Charles began to lick my remaining left arm as if wishing for a speedy recovery.
“Are you worried about me? Thank you, Charles.”
I started petting his body with my right hand in return.
Charles is a short-haired breed, but his fur is dense and fluffy. The usual feeling of petting him was very comforting.
However, beneath the fluffy fur, I could feel his bony body, and I felt an inexplicable sadness.
Charles was brought from my mother’s family home, as far as I know. He’s about sixteen years old, making him older than me. He’s a venerable old cat now, still healthy, but it wouldn’t be surprising if his time came soon.
“Charles, please don’t leave me behind.”
Before I knew it, those words had slipped out of my mouth.
In response, he began to lick my face as if to say, “Don’t talk like that.”
He sometimes behaves as if he understands human words. He’s a smart cat.
Maybe he will even understand what I am about to talk about.
But I have to say it. Charles was my mother’s cat, and he was also close to my father.
“Charles, please listen with a strong heart. It’s about Mother and Father. They… they didn’t survive the carriage accident. The carriage went out of control and fell into a ravine. And…”
Charles’ ears twitched, and he stopped licking my face. He looked at me as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
