The Necromance of Love and Death: Defeated Early in the Game, I Reincarnated as a Tragic Villainous Noble and Rebel Against the Scenario with My Beloved Using My Modern and Game Knowledge - Chapter 41
I am Carla Baltzarkova. I am a dragon who once made a contract with Alfred Balbastor, who has now passed away.
Normally, I would have no reason to protect Clovis, the son of Alfred.
But… I started to think.
If I had shared my secret with Alfred, and if we had a child, that child would be around the same age as Clovis now.
Once that thought came to me, I couldn’t just ignore him anymore.
Clovis has lost both his limbs and one of his eyes. In the natural world, this would be a huge disadvantage. So big, in fact, that giving up on life wouldn’t be surprising.
But Clovis accepted what happened to him and is trying hard to keep living.
Before I knew it, I was watching him closely.
I even shared my secret—something I never told Alfred, not even at the end.
I must admit it. I like Clovis.
He may be small, but he lives with all his strength. That moved my heart.
Even now…
“Oh? You defeated a Metal Slime without using my power? ”
Humans are weak.
I thought Clovis would fail and come crying to me. But he didn’t. He and Violette managed to defeat a Metal Slime.
Maybe it was luck, or maybe it was on purpose—but when Clovis used his lightning magic, the Metal Slime seemed to lose its hardness.
Thanks to that, Violette’s sword—once deflected—was finally able to cut through it.
Smart thinking. Great teamwork.
“Not bad at all.”
Watching Clovis reminded me of Alfred from long ago.
Maybe Clovis will grow strong like Alfred, too. Humans are weak. But sometimes, a terrifyingly strong one is born.
“I wonder how strong Clovis will become…”
After losing Alfred, my world had lost its color. But now, it feels like that color is slowly coming back.
“Enchant Thunder! ”
I sent out my left-hand hidden weapon, the Mithril Blade, now covered in lightning, straight at the Metal Slime.
Pushed by a strong spring, the Mithril Blade shot out and struck the Metal Slime perfectly.
Luckily, it hit the core in one shot. The Metal Slime shook, then slowly melted into a shiny metal puddle.
It looks like my lightning magic works really well on Metal Slimes. When they get hit by lightning, they seem to lose their hardness.
“Enchant Thunder!”
I cast the spell again, adding lightning to another Mithril Blade, and aimed at another Metal Slime.
With a sharp whoosh, the blade flew. It hit the target, but this time it didn’t hit the core. The Metal Slime stopped moving—but it was still alive.
Then, a figure ran in—so fast I could barely follow with my eyes. It was Vio, dressed like an adventurer.
Hyaa!”
Vio’s twin blades flashed. In a second, the Metal Slime was cut into four pieces.
After she sheathed her swords, the four parts of the Metal Slime melted into shiny puddles.
“Thanks, Vio! We beat it!”
“It’s thanks to you, Clovis. Because of your lightning, I could cut it. Metal Slimes must be weak to lightning.”
“Looks like it.”
Vio and I gave each other a high-five.
Now, we’ve beaten over ten Metal Slimes.
At first, their sudden appearance surprised us. But after seeing so many, it started to feel normal. We even figured out a good way to fight them. They’re not scary anymore.
To us, Metal Slimes are just lots of free experience points.
We must have leveled up a lot. But I want more Metal Slimes to show up—I want to level up even more.
Now that I think about it… In the game, Metal Slimes only appear 1% of the time. Why are they showing up so often here?
I thought about it. I think it’s because of the slimes’ traits and the time that’s passed.
This dungeon is actually an ancient airship from a lost civilization. The walls, floor, and ceiling are all made of metal. The Rust Slimes feed by dissolving the metal rust.
In the design documents, it said that Metal Slimes are a rare mutation of Rust Slimes. That 1% chance in the game must be the mutation rate.
So why are so many Metal Slimes showing up now?
The answer is in time and how slimes reproduce.
Slimes are like amoebas on Earth—single-celled creatures. They grow by splitting in two—making copies of themselves.
So what happens when a Metal Slime makes a copy?
Of course, it becomes another Metal Slime.
Once a Metal Slime appears, more will keep appearing over time.
That’s why there are so many Metal Slimes here. It makes sense.
“At this rate, monster types might change in other dungeons too…”
