The Necromance of Love and Death: Defeated Early in the Game, I Reincarnated as a Tragic Villainous Noble and Rebel Against the Scenario with My Beloved Using My Modern and Game Knowledge - Chapter 45
“To think you actually defeated that monster. Impressive. Honestly, I’m surprised.”
Carla approached while clapping her hands. This must be her way of offering congratulations.
The Big Metal Slime had been a tough enemy for us, but for Carla, it was probably just a small fry. Even so, she believed in us and didn’t step in.
Though she didn’t intervene, her mere presence gave us a sense of security. Knowing that Carla was there if things went wrong allowed us to fight the Big Metal Slime without holding anything back.
“Meow.”
“Hm?”
I looked down to see Charles rubbing his body against Vio’s and my legs, like he was headbutting us affectionately. This must be his way of celebrating.
He helped us too.
Charles had walked ahead of us, alerting us to nearby enemies. While he didn’t join the battle directly, he constantly kept watch, serving as our scout. I was truly grateful for that.
Though the twist of the boss turning out to be a Metal Slime version of Big Last Slime caught us off guard, we managed to overcome it.
Now that we’d taken down the boss, it was time for the part we’d all been waiting for—item retrieval.
“Let’s go, Vio.”
“Right!”
I took Vio’s hand and headed down the passage that the Big Metal Slime had previously blocked. Sharl walked ahead with his tail held high, alert and cautious.
At the end of the passage, we found a small room. Inside stood a thick door. Though everything around it was rusted and falling apart, the door itself showed no signs of corrosion. One look was enough to tell it was something special.
“This door’s different from the others. I wonder why?”
“Who knows—”
Playing dumb, I gave Vio a vague response.
Naturally, I already knew. Beyond this door was the treasure vault. The elixir, our main goal, was just ahead.
“There’s something here.”
“Let’s see…”
Vio pointed to what looked like a control panel. Beneath it were ten buttons labeled 0 through 9. It was a password input device—you had to enter the correct code to open the door.
And to know that password, you’d have to visit the Royal Capital’s National Museum. Since I’ve never been there in this life, of course I shouldn’t know the code.
Unless I have memories from a previous life.
At first, I’d doubted the memories I held from my past life.
I thought they were just fantasies born from being driven to the brink.
But after persuading Baltzarek, purging the family, developing my prosthetic limbs, discovering this dungeon, and trying everything over and over, I chose to trust my memories of my previous life.
Time to put them to use again.
I entered the code according to my past life’s knowledge.
With a soft hiss of air, the door began to open.
“It opened!? Wait—how!?”
“Maybe it was broken? I just pushed some random numbers, and it worked.”
“Is that even possible!? Wow, you’re amazing!”
“…………”
Vio squealed with excitement, while Carla quietly watched me with a sharp gaze.
Vio seemed convinced, but Carla… probably not. She had a keen eye for lies.
Still, there was no way we could turn back now, not when the thing we were looking for was right in front of us. If someone else came before us next time and took the elixir, we’d never forgive ourselves.
“Heave-ho.”
I threw my weight against the heavy door and pushed it open. Inside, the room looked like it had been ransacked, with debris scattered everywhere.
Shelves had decayed, and the floor was littered with trash-like remnants.
Just like in the game.
“Wait, wasn’t this place supposed to be locked? Why is there nothing left!?”
“It’s not totally empty. Look.”
I picked up a bottle lying on the floor and showed it to Vio. The black bottle had its label peeled off. If my game knowledge was right, this was the elixir I was searching for. Shaking it slightly produced a soft sloshing sound of liquid.
“What’s that? Trash?”
“Nope. Probably some kind of ancient medicine.”
“Ooh. What kind of medicine?”
“Not sure about that part.”
“Kinda scary… what if it’s poison or something?”
Well… it is an elixir, actually.
“Let’s search the room. Maybe there’s other useful stuff too.”
“Hmm…”
I figured digging through junk would be a bit much for someone as refined as Vio.
But despite making a face, she started combing through the area.
Guess I should do the same. If there’s this much trash, maybe there’s something the game didn’t include—some hidden item I don’t know about.
“Ah!”
Just then, Vio let out a surprised cry.
“Did you find something?”
“Look at this!”
She held up a knife made of a pure white material—clearly designed for thrusting. A stiletto.
“Ohhh!”
The White Fang! I knew it would be here, but seeing it in person was a whole different feeling.
It looked like it was made from some kind of bone, but the White Fang was actually an artifact from an ancient civilization. Its base attack power was higher than a mithril sword, and it came with additional ice-elemental damage.
“Nice find. Why don’t you try using it, Vio?”
“Me?”
“Yeah. You found it, after all.”
“Hmmm…”
Vio looked back and forth between the mithril sword at her hip and the White Fang in her hand.
