The Necromance of Love and Death: Defeated Early in the Game, I Reincarnated as a Tragic Villainous Noble and Rebel Against the Scenario with My Beloved Using My Modern and Game Knowledge - Chapter 49
“At last, the time has come…”
In the study of the Barbalstor mansion, two letters were placed on my desk.
It was the admission notice for the academy.
The time for the game to begin had finally arrived.
“Have I done everything I could…?”
In five years, a war with the demon race might start. I had prepared for it as best as I could.
I could honestly say that I had exhausted all my ideas. From now on, I had no choice but to trust that the people in the special district would come up with solutions suited for this land. I could only hope.
The real problem was our life at the academy.
The demon race had already infiltrated the heart of this country. They would try every means to eliminate the protagonist, who possessed the [Hero] gift, out of caution.
I certainly did not want to be caught in the crossfire of that.
However, if we intervened too much and destroyed the demon’s plans in advance, it would prevent the protagonist from making his own accomplishments.
What if that led to a future where the protagonist never defeats the Demon King?
Though I was willing to accept some sacrifices to allow the protagonist to succeed according to the game’s plot, I still wasn’t sure if I should play the role of a friend to the protagonist, just as the game intended.
To be honest, I already felt a certain dislike toward this unseen protagonist.
If things went according to the game, he would be the one to kill me and Vio, and his lifestyle, where he forms relationships with numerous women, didn’t sit well with me.
But to defeat the demon race, a hero, someone who could defeat the Demon King, was necessary.
That protagonist, the [Hero], had to be aided at the academy and actively involved in the various incidents there. The role of being his friend was crucial.
Even though I personally didn’t want to lend a hand, I had no choice. It would be safer to help him, as the game had outlined.
Additionally, the protagonist would grow closer to Seraphine, the princess of this country, during their time at the academy.
It would be better to be near him, considering I would also need to target the artifact that Seraphine possessed.
Though it wasn’t something I was looking forward to, there was no other way.
Everything was for Vio’s sake.
[Later]
The time to leave for the capital came sooner than expected. With the checks on the local policies and the items created in the special district, I had no time to waste.
A week before the academy’s entrance ceremony, Vio and I had arrived at Carla’s mansion to head to the capital.
“Have you forgotten anything?”
“I’m fine. I trust Grandpa.”
“Thank you.”
Grandpa smiled happily at my words.
Is everything ready?
A huge, black, jewel-like dragon, Carla, spoke to me.
“Yeah. Let’s go, Vio.”
“Yes!”
I took Vio’s hand and climbed up the ramp to get on Carla’s back.
Up close, Carla was truly beautiful. Each of her dragon scales looked like a precious gem.
Then, let’s go.
“Please do.”
“Yes!”
Once we were seated, Carla flapped her wings.
In that instant, it felt as though we were released from gravity’s grip and soared into the air.
With every beat of Carla’s wings, our altitude increased. It was a little scary.
But Carla, oblivious to my fear, began flying slowly forward.
Gradually, her speed increased, and the view of the ground below changed as if swept away by water.
It was still a tremendous speed.
“Hunh-hunh♪”
While I was frozen with fear, Vio was relaxed, even humming a tune. I envied her composure.
I had to make sure she didn’t realize I was scared. It would be a matter of pride as a man.
I looked away from the ground and gazed up at the endless blue sky.
“Hey, Cro. What’s the academy like?”
“Huh? Well… I’m not very familiar with it, but it’s a place where noble girls like us are gathered. There are also some commoners who have received useful gifts and are treated as special students.”
“Really? So even commoners are there?”
“Yes. Once they graduate, those commoners are treated as one-time nobles, so they can become nobility in the future.”
The protagonist, who came from a commoner background, would probably stand out at the academy through remarkable achievements in various incidents.
Since the protagonist is a commoner, he doesn’t have the manners or common sense of a noble. It will be my job to make up for that.
“Sigh…”
I felt heavy-hearted, but this was also for Vio.
I could only hope the protagonist would be a reasonable person with whom we could communicate.
The End.
