The Neighborhood High School Girl, Miss Isezaki, Is the Great Saintess Returned from Another World~ And I, Suddenly Awakened as Her Exclusive Mana Supply Uncle, Travel Between Earth and Another World with Time-Space Magic~ - 18. Temporal Magic
18. Temporal Magic
Accepting Isezaki-san’s suggestion of “let’s change locations for now,” we left the bustling alley and moved to a quiet alleyway.
Since the dimensional space could be activated and deactivated as I wished, I decided to summon it again here. I tossed the wooden stick I had, and it smoothly disappeared into the gray dimensional space. Hmm…
“It seems like I unconsciously used magic, perhaps because I was thinking I needed a trash can. I don’t even remember activating my magic, let alone manifesting it without awareness. Is it possible to unconsciously manifest magic like that?”
“Of course, it is. Exceptional mages can manipulate magic without conscious effort.”
With that, Isezaki-san began to recount her own experience.
“When I was young, Aunt Emmy brought me a children’s book. I was so engrossed in reading it all afternoon that I didn’t even realize it had gotten dark—before I knew it, I was using ‘Light’ magic to read. That’s my memory of using ‘Light’ magic for the first time.”
Unlike me, who unconsciously summoned a trash can while wanting to discard the skewer, Isezaki-san’s story was quite lovely. I wish I had something like that.
“And then, sir? I believe this isn’t just a regular trash can magic, but a ‘Storage Storage.'”
“Huh, ‘Storage Storage’? Does that mean it’s the one that often appears in light novels?”
“That’s right. As expected of you, sir!”
Isezaki-san affirmed with a smile.
The ‘Storage Storage’ magic is widely known for its usefulness in various stories. Perhaps I’ve learned quite a good magic. I’m getting a little excited.
I decided to listen further to Isezaki-san’s explanation.
According to Isezaki-san, the capacity of ‘Storage Storage’ varies from person to person and is proportional to the amount of magical power one possesses.
It ranges from just a bag for smaller individuals to the size of a large truck for bigger ones.
I tried to check my capacity, but it didn’t fill up even when I put in my wooden skewers and eco-bags. Well, it’ll probably become clear as I use it more.
Additionally, when I tentatively reached into the dimensional space and grabbed something, I could retrieve wooden skewers exactly as I wished. Furthermore, it seemed possible to eject desired items from the dimensional space without even inserting my arm.
After completing a thorough performance test, I turned to Isezaki-san, who had been silent all this time, and found her gazing at me with sparkling eyes, clearly impressed. It’s a little embarrassing to be stared at like that.
“In such a short time, you’ve mastered two magic spells. Truly remarkable, sir…! Since both are temporal magic, it seems you’re quite proficient in spatial magic, sir.”
“Temporal magic, huh… What other kinds are there?”
“For example, there’s ‘Levitation Levitation,’ ‘Flight Soar,’ ‘Haste Acceleration,’ and so on… There are many convenient spells.”
“I see. I hope I can eventually use those too.”
“You certainly will. After all, it’s you, sir.”
Isezaki-san replied with unwavering eyes. Her evaluation of me is still overly high.
“Ah, thanks, I’ll do my best. Well, shall we head back to the inn soon? …I think I might be able to return to Japan shortly after.”
If my prediction is correct, that is.
“Understood. Then we must bid farewell to Aunt Emmy.”
With a smile, Isezaki-san accepted my amateurish magic talk without a hint of doubt.
Maybe Isezaki-san’s evaluation function for me is just buggy after all.
***
Upon returning to the inn, we stored all our belongings in the room’s ‘Storage Storage’ and bid farewell to Emmy.
I told her that I might be able to come back soon, so our parting was quite simple.
And so, we left the inn and arrived at the dusk-covered wasteland.
“I want to ask you something, Isezaki-san. When I was on the brink of death, do you think you strongly recalled this wasteland?”
At my question, Isezaki-san’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Yes, that’s exactly right. As I watched your body temperature rapidly dropping, I recalled the time when I treated a severely injured soldier in this wasteland.”
“I see, so that’s what happened. In that case, this time, I want you to strongly remember the place where I was stabbed yesterday. Really concentrate on it.”
In response to my words, Isezaki-san hesitated to answer, which was unusual for her.
“To be honest, I don’t really want to remember that moment. Whenever it crosses my mind, my body starts trembling… Um, I have a request.”
“What is it? If there’s anything I can do, I’ll do it.”
That incident seemed to have left some scars on Isezaki-san’s heart. She looked up at me with a pleading expression.
“I want to feel assured that you’re alive. May I touch you while I recall it?”
“Yeah, I don’t mind at all.”
Anyway, I thought that if I’m going to take her back with me, I’ll have to touch her as well. It’s a small price to pay.
“Well then, excuse me… Fuhi.”
She timidly rested her head on my chest and, with a peculiar vocalization, pressed her body against mine. Once we’re back in Japan, I’ll make sure to separate as soon as we return.
I enveloped both myself and Isezaki-san in magic. This is the first step. However, even after waiting for a while, I didn’t sense that Isezaki-san was reminiscing about Japan.
“Um… Isezaki-san, can you start recalling it now?”
“Oh, right, I forgot. Here I go!”
Did I push her too hard to recall her trauma? Isezaki-san answered in a fluster, and then I immediately felt images begin to surface in her eyes.
A blood-soaked road in the dead of night faintly illuminated by streetlights, a suited man lying down, his face obscured. It’s certainly the scene from yesterday.
Staring at it, I focused my thoughts on wanting to go to that place. Strongly, strongly focusing on it.
At that moment, words naturally spilled from my mouth.
“Dimensional Transfer Teleport.”
The next instant, we vanished from the otherworldly realm.
