Chapter 8: Twenty Million
â—ŽI’m so glad you chose meâ—Ž
Zhou Shuyu was wearing a black tracksuit, which made her look fair. The form-fitting sportswear outlined the shape of her elegant muscles and her excellent figure.
This was exactly the time when Song Qi went for her daily morning jog. Zhou Shuyu had deliberately changed into a tracksuit to join her.
When Song Qi opened the door and saw her, a look of undisguised surprise appeared on her face.
“You’re back today?”
“Yes, there was nothing much to pack,” Zhou Shuyu said with a smile, handing her duffel bag to the maid who was watering flowers not far away. “Auntie, could you please put this in my room? Thank you.”
“Shall we go for a run?” Zhou Shuyu suggested.
“Hmm, okay,” Song Qi replied, her eyes narrowing as she smiled.
As Zhou Shuyu walked ahead, Song Qi’s brows furrowed slightly.
When Zhou Shuyu passed by her, the faint lily-of-the-valley pheromones that were released with her sweat were full of aggression.
Song Qi jogged to Zhou Shuyu’s side, suspecting something was wrong. She asked her directly.
“Did something happen?”
“Hmm? A little. Let’s jog two laps first,” Zhou Shuyu sidestepped the question. “Ah, I’m sorry, I forgot to put on my scent patch today. I was a little busy with some things yesterday.”
With that, Zhou Shuyu felt her clothes pocket, pulled out a scent patch, unwrapped it, and stuck it on the back of her neck.
“Alright, let’s run together now,” Zhou Shuyu said, giving Song Qi a brilliant smile after she was done.
After the scent patch was on, the smell of lily-of-the-valley in the air faded considerably.
Song Qi stepped forward and took Zhou Shuyu’s hand.
“No running today. Let’s just take a walk.”
She knew that an Alpha who was feeling uneasy would feel better with contact from their partner.
Even though she didn’t know what had happened to Zhou Shuyu, being in contact with her might help.
Besides…
Zhou Shuyu had been gone for a night, and the pheromone scent in the room had faded a lot.
She had told the auntie not to clean that room yesterday, but the scent still didn’t linger.
Maybe it was because Zhou Shuyu hadn’t lived there long enough. Before, the auntie cleaned that room every day, so even her own scent didn’t linger much.
Song Qi had rested in Zhou Shuyu’s room for a night, and the dull pain had lessened a bit, but it wasn’t as effective as having the person there.
When she saw Zhou Shuyu return this morning, the joy in her heart couldn’t be concealed.
But her Alpha wasn’t happy.
She recalled how Zhou Shuyu would avoid her whenever she flirted a few days ago, but today, when she took her hand, she didn’t refuse.
Seeing this, Song Qi tightened her grip a little more.
Zhou Shuyu felt the softness and warmth in her hand, and the agitation in her heart subsided a little.
At the very least, she couldn’t let her own issues affect Song Qi.
The Alpha’s mood slowly calmed down, and she uncontrollably squeezed the Omega’s soft little hand.
“Okay, let’s take a walk then.” Her mind didn’t do much thinking before she answered. Her shoulders relaxed as she held Song Qi’s hand, and her tall frame completely enveloped the Omega’s smaller one.
Isn’t it nice to be with Song Qi?
Zhou Shuyu found a sense of security here. She didn’t consider whether it was related to pheromones. She only knew that with Song Qi, she felt at ease for a moment.
Seeing Zhou Shuyu’s relaxed demeanor, Song Qi felt much more relieved.
“So, what exactly happened?” Seeing that she had relaxed, Song Qi took the opportunity to ask again.
“… ” Zhou Shuyu looked at the Omega who was more than a head shorter than her. What should she do? It was so hard to say anything in front of those clear eyes.
Zhou Shuyu took a deep breath, as if finally making up her mind.
“Let’s talk about it when we get back from our walk, okay?” she said, forcing a smile. The moment she decided to exchange herself, she felt a little bit lighter.
She wasn’t at a disadvantage.
Zhou Shuyu and Song Qi silently walked a lap around the park before returning to the villa.
Song Qi led her to the study.
She sat at her desk, and Zhou Shuyu sat across from her.
“Miss Song…” Zhou Shuyu began to speak, but Song Qi’s eyes were fixed on her, making her a little nervous.
“Please help me.”
“I… I want to borrow twenty million from you…” Zhou Shuyu was a little uncertain about her own value… or rather, what Song Qi thought her value was.
She had already taken care of Zhou An. He couldn’t escape from where he was.
“Okay.”
Just as Zhou Shuyu was racking her brain for a reason, she heard Song Qi’s voice, which sounded like music to her ears.
“What…” Zhou Shuyu still couldn’t react.
Song Qi had already taken out a golden card and pushed it toward her.
“This card has twenty million in it.”
“You’re not going to ask what I need it for?” Zhou Shuyu’s hands trembled slightly.
“Problems that can be solved with money are the easiest problems to solve,” Song Qi said calmly.
“But you’re my person from now on.”
Zhou Shuyu nodded, feeling much more at ease.
“I’m just your person,” she murmured.
Song Qi smiled contentedly.
“Yes, you are just my person. I’m so glad that when you were in trouble, you chose me.”
Zhou Shuyu looked at the golden card on the table. Her hand slowly reached for it.
Just as she was about to touch the card, she pulled her hand back, grabbed a blank sheet of paper from the desk, and wrote out an IOU in her elegant handwriting.
“I only accept one-time payments. I don’t like small transfers. You sleeping with me every day can be the interest,” Song Qi said, watching her movements.
Zhou Shuyu’s pen paused. She wrote out the IOU to be paid in full in three years and pushed it toward Song Qi.
“Here.”
Song Qi glanced at it and then put the IOU into her safe.
“Hmm, I agree.”
Seeing Song Qi accept the IOU, Zhou Shuyu breathed a sigh of relief.
“So, are you my personal maid now?” Song Qi asked, looking at Zhou Shuyu with a mischievous smile.
“How about I get you some maid outfits custom-made? You can wear them at home.”
The hand Zhou Shuyu was holding the card with trembled, and her ears inexplicably turned red.
“No.”
Zhou Shuyu said, holding the card as if she were fleeing.
But Song Qi grabbed her hot wrist.
“I’m so glad you’re my person.”
Song Qi’s eyes were deep and mature, lacking the carefree innocence of a teenager. This threw Zhou Shuyu into a state of chaos.
Back in her room, her heart began to beat wildly. Maybe only when Song Qi said those words would she feel a sense of ambiguity.
Even if someone was better than Song Qi in every way.
Zhou Shuyu felt she would never meet a second person like Song Qi.
After calming herself down, Zhou Shuyu took out her phone and sent a message to an un-saved number.
“I’ve got the money.”
A few minutes after Zhou Shuyu sent the message, a reply came.
“That fast?”
“Don’t try any tricks.”
Soon after, an address was sent.
Six-Star Industrial Zone
“11 PM.”
Zhou Shuyu memorized the message, then deleted the chat history one by one.
Zhou Shuyu turned off her phone and put the card in her inner pocket. Her eyes were filled with a cold expression.
She would solve the original owner’s past problems one by one.
