The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 11
After Li Ge ran out of the office, she was called over by a phone call from Wang Fan. When she arrived, Chen Xin was already there. Perhaps realizing the seriousness of the situation, Chen Xin’s expression had completely changed from her earlier arrogance. She kept her head down, glancing at Li Ge from time to time but never daring to meet her eyes directly, only sneaking quick looks from the corner of her eye.
“Li Ge, you’re here. Come, have a seat,” Wang Fan greeted her warmly.
This whole incident had taken Wang Fan by surprise. Thinking back to how readily Xu Qingyan had agreed to work with him, he knew something unusual was going on. He never would have guessed that Xu Qingyan had agreed to the deal all because of an omega.
Had he known it would be this easy, he wouldn’t have hesitated. Just one omega? Even if she had asked for ten, or dozens, or hundreds of A-class omegas, he would have sent them all, neatly packaged and delivered. There was no need for such complicated maneuvering.
“Li Ge, Secretary Su already told me the details of what happened, and I’ve looked into the situation myself. It’s clear that Manager Chen was at fault here,” Wang Fan said as he handed her a glass of water and smiled. “You’re the one directly involved, and you’re the one who got hurt. So I want to hear what you think. If you can’t forgive Manager Chen, then I’ll do as Secretary Su suggested. We’ll make sure she’s blacklisted from the entire industry. No company will dare to hire her again. But if you can forgive her, then we’ll follow your lead. I believe if you speak to Chairwoman Xu, she would be willing to let this go too.”
“So what you mean, Director Wang, is that you want me to speak to Chairwoman Xu?” Li Ge asked.
Wang Fan quickly shook his head. “No, that’s not it. Like I said, you’re the one who was wronged, and the decision is completely up to you. I only called you here to observe and listen.”
Li Ge turned her head and looked at Chen Xin, who was standing off to the side. She asked, “If that’s true, then shouldn’t I have been called in alone?”
The room instantly fell silent. Only the ticking of the clock and the sound of the wind outside could be heard.
While the situation had escalated because of Chen Xin’s actions, it wasn’t entirely her fault. After all, she had only been following orders from above. Shengshi Entertainment didn’t have many capable agents to begin with, and Chen Xin was one of the few with strong connections and experience. Losing her over a single conflict would be a big loss for the company.
Naturally, Wang Fan wasn’t thrilled about that possibility.
What bothered him most was that someone like Li Ge, a nobody in the industry, might end up costing him a top-performing agent. No matter how he looked at it, he felt like he was losing more than he gained.
Wang Fan had always assumed that omegas like Li Ge, who had been raised in comfort, were easy to manipulate. After all, if Li Dahai was so willing to sell his own daughter, she couldn’t be that hard to handle. But clearly, Li Ge was not the pushover he had expected.
“Li Ge, what I meant was…” Wang Fan began again, trying to steer the conversation.
Before he could finish, Chen Xin stepped forward and spoke up on her own.
“Li Ge, this has nothing to do with Director Wang. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have treated you like that. I was completely wrong, and I know it now. Please, can you give me another chance? I promise I’ll never behave that way again.”
Li Ge had never truly hated Chen Xin. She had only spoken up earlier because she felt Xu Qingyan’s actions had gone too far. That didn’t mean she had forgiven Chen Xin either.
And even if Chen Xin and Wang Fan both got down on their knees and begged her, she would never go back to ask that alpha for anything.
There was no denying that Xu Qingyan was powerful. She had a strong background, incredible ability, and stunning looks. She was the kind of S-class alpha that every omega dreamed of being with, a rare one-in-a-million.
But why would someone like that take interest in her?
Life didn’t just hand out miracles.
Li Ge had always understood that, and she never believed she would be the exception. Xu Qingyan was the type of alpha who kept her emotions well hidden and had high standards. There was no way someone like that would ever truly care about her.
Her current interest was probably just curiosity, the same kind that other alphas felt when they played around in nightclubs, looking for something new. No different from those who casually picked up companions just for a thrill.
If Xu Qingyan ever got tired of her, she would probably toss her aside like trash. Maybe even sell her off to another alpha, just to squeeze out whatever value she had left.
So the only thing she could do was stay far away from that woman. As far away as possible. She hoped never to see her again.
“Manager Chen, this was never my decision to make. I don’t have the power to stop Chairwoman Xu,” Li Ge said calmly. “If you want to plead for mercy, I suggest you go to her directly. That would be better than wasting time here.”
She added, “After all, the one who got hurt was Chairwoman Xu, not me. I don’t have the right to forgive on behalf of the person who suffered. I believe you understand what I mean.”
Chen Xin had not expected Li Ge to be so hard to persuade. She had always seemed like a soft, naive girl, someone easy to control. But now, in a real crisis, she was proving to be tougher than anyone imagined.
“Li Ge, I…” Chen Xin stammered.
Seeing that Li Ge couldn’t be swayed, Chen Xin turned to Wang Fan instead.
“Director Wang, please. I really regret everything. Could you help me talk to her? If no company is willing to hire me, then what’s the point of living? I might as well be dead.”
Wang Fan was growing irritated. He didn’t actually care whether Chen Xin lived or died. She was just one manager. If she was gone, he could hire someone else. But if the project with Xu Qingyan fell apart, that would be a real disaster.
What scared him most was the idea that Li Ge might say something in bed to Xu Qingyan and ruin everything. If that happened, he would go down with Chen Xin.
Right now, the most important thing was to keep Li Ge on his side and ensure that the project stayed on track. Even if there had to be complications, they needed to come after the contract was signed. Once Xu Qingyan’s signature was on paper, she wouldn’t be able to back out. If she tried to protect Li Ge too openly, the other shareholders at Xu Group would never stand for it.
“Li Ge, I know this situation has been a huge blow for you. Before you arrived, I already gave Chen Xin a serious scolding. This was clearly her fault. But still, how should I put it, maybe the consequences don’t need to be this severe. Don’t you think?”
Wang Fan’s intention was obvious. He was trying to plead for Chen Xin. Li Ge understood exactly what he meant. But understanding was one thing. Choosing whether to act on it was another. This whole matter had nothing to do with her personally. Chen Xin had brought it upon herself.
There was no reason for Li Ge to plead with Xu Qingyan on Chen Xin’s behalf. Chen Xin had dared to lay hands on Xu Qingyan’s assistant. She must have assumed that Xu Qingyan would never get into conflict with Wang Fan over a secretary. If she had known things would escalate like this, she never would have thrown that book.
In the end, this was all Chen Xin’s own doing.
Li Ge responded firmly, “Director Wang, I will repeat what I said earlier. Manager Chen hurt Chairwoman Xu. Even if I wasn’t involved, she would still pursue the matter. This is not something I can resolve with a single sentence. Please don’t put me in a difficult position.”
Wang Fan could see that there was no room for negotiation. He nodded slightly, gave a quick wave, and let her leave.
As soon as Li Ge left, Chen Xin started to panic.
“Director Wang, please, you have to save me. I have given so much to this company. You can’t just leave me behind like this.”
Wang Fan lost his patience. He shouted, “Save you? How am I supposed to save you? With what? Why did you go after Xu Qingyan? Do you even know what kind of giant the Xu Group is? She controls nearly half of the entertainment industry. Every investor and major player respects her. And you, who are you to challenge someone like her?”
“You’ve always acted smart and sharp, but in a critical moment like this, you completely lost your mind. You’ve been a manager for eight years. Do I really still need to tell you what you can and cannot do?”
“I’ve warned you before, don’t treat artists with that attitude. You never know who they might be connected to behind the scenes. One wrong move could bring disaster to the whole company. Did you think I was just nagging for no reason? Now look where we are. This is all on you.”
Chen Xin’s fear grew. She dropped to her knee and begged, “Director Wang, I really understand now. I didn’t think Li Ge had anything to do with Xu Qingyan. I’ve been around her all the time. Aside from that alpha who was always with her, I never saw her associate with any other important people. And you said yourself that President Li never treated her like a real daughter. That’s why I thought I could be tough with her. If I had known, I would never have dared.”
Wang Fan was growing more and more frustrated. But his anger was not truly directed at Chen Xin.
What disturbed him was the fact that Xu Qingyan had actually taken interest in Li Ge. He had never expected that Xu Qingyan would go to such lengths for her. If one day Li Ge got upset with him, Shengshi Entertainment might be the one to collapse.
He would never allow that to happen.
But right now, he still could not figure out how far Xu Qingyan would go for Li Ge. He had to act carefully and stay within limits.
“Enough. I will take care of it for you. I’ll try to speak to Chairwoman Xu and explain things on your behalf. But do not get your hopes up. All I can do is try.”
After a pause, he added, “I will speak to someone who might be able to help you.”
Chen Xin quickly asked, “Who?”
“Li Dahai.”
