The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 2
Li Ge was slightly stunned. When she noticed the woman’s gaze, she quickly looked away. Her ears turned red without her realizing it. At the same time, she couldn’t help but admire her silently.
This female Alpha was truly beautiful.
Just like male Omegas were rare, female Alphas made up less than ten percent of the population. And attractive female Alphas were even more uncommon, almost like national treasures that needed protection.
Out of the few female Alphas Li Ge had ever seen, this one was by far the most stunning. Her figure was curvy and seductive. Her features were striking and bold without being vulgar. Her eyelashes were thick and long, and her eyes carried a hint of melancholy. Yet, she didn’t come across as approachable. On the contrary, there was a sharp intensity in her presence that warned others to stay away. She even looked a little fierce.
Li Ge felt slightly intimidated. She instinctively tried to shift her attention to someone else, hoping to hide the unnatural expression on her face. But her small action didn’t escape Xu Qingyan’s eyes. A faint smile appeared at the corner of Xu Qingyan’s lips.
The secretary standing beside her widened her eyes in disbelief. It was the first time she had ever seen Xu Qingyan smile. And not just any smile—it was gentle.
Since the day she started working as Xu Qingyan’s assistant, there had only been one expression on her boss’s face: indifference.
When she was annoyed, her face was cold. When she was angry, it was still cold. Even when someone secretly sabotaged her, causing major losses to the company, her expression didn’t change. She was furious inside, but her face stayed blank and unbothered.
Smiling was not something Xu Qingyan ever did. Not at work. Not in private.
This Omega must be… really special.
Before the secretary could think further, the slight smile on Xu Qingyan’s face vanished. She turned her head and looked at her assistant with her usual calm and serious expression.
“President Xu?”
“What is it?”
“This Omega… do you know her?”
“Yes.”
The secretary was even more surprised. A question that personal, and Xu Qingyan had answered without hesitation.
Was she dreaming?
Still unsure, the secretary tried again, more cautiously this time. “President Xu, are you sure you understood what I meant?”
Xu Qingyan gave her a puzzled look. “Weren’t you asking if I know her? I do. What’s the problem?”
That was a big problem.
But the secretary didn’t dare say that out loud. Instead, she tried to hint at it gently. “It’s just that, President Xu… you’ve mentioned before that you weren’t really interested in Omegas. So I just thought…”
“So you assumed I’m only interested in Alphas, or maybe Betas. Is that what you’re getting at?”
“Um… yes…”
For once, Xu Qingyan seemed willing to explain herself. She thought for a moment before speaking.
“I said I wasn’t very interested. I never said I had no interest at all. And isn’t this the kind of thing that depends on whether you like someone or not? If I don’t like the person, how could I possibly be interested? I’m not some animal that gets excited by anything that moves.”
That made sense, actually.
But wait, this conversation was heading in the wrong direction. The secretary quickly brought the topic back.
“President Xu, what I meant was… do you like this Omega?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, the secretary regretted asking. This was such a personal question, and Xu Qingyan was her boss. Asking something like this felt like digging into her private life right in front of her face. It was a bold and reckless move. Getting fired might be the least of her worries. If she ended up blacklisted by every major company, she’d have nowhere to go.
She quickly lowered her head and apologized. “I’m sorry, President Xu. I overstepped.”
But Xu Qingyan wasn’t angry. What surprised her was the reason behind the assumption.
“Why would you think I like her?”
Why?
Wasn’t it obvious?
The secretary didn’t know how to respond. But then again, she could understand it. Xu Qingyan had grown up in a high-pressure, competitive environment. Since childhood, she was told only to study and excel. While other kids played games or relaxed after school, Xu Qingyan’s schedule was packed with classes. Except for mealtimes and quick water breaks, her day was filled with nonstop studying. There was never any room for emotional growth.
Because of that, Xu Qingyan never really learned what it meant to like or dislike someone. She didn’t know what happiness felt like, or sadness. Her emotional expression was so minimal that she often seemed less like a person and more like a machine.
After thinking it through, the secretary gave her an honest explanation.
“Because, President Xu, you’ve never smiled at anyone before.”
Had she smiled just now?
Xu Qingyan found that hard to believe. Her assistant had no reason to lie to her. But even so… why would she smile?
The real question was, why had she smiled at all?
Was it because she saw Li Ge shyly look away, with her ears turning red, and found that reaction a little cute, so she smiled?
Or was it simply because it was Li Ge, and just seeing her made her feel genuinely happy?
Xu Qingyan couldn’t figure out which reason it was. But she couldn’t deny the truth. The moment she saw Li Ge, a strange and unexpected feeling warmed her heart. It was soft and filled with a kind of excitement. She even felt the sudden urge to walk over and start a conversation.
But Li Ge probably didn’t recognize her. If she went up without warning, she might scare her. It was better to keep a little distance for now.
“President Xu.”
“Go ahead.”
The assistant, still feeling unsure, cautiously asked, “Since you know her, why didn’t you go say hello? From her expression, I think she has a good impression of you.”
A good impression?
Why did it feel like Li Ge was afraid of her?
Xu Qingyan was very sensitive when it came to emotions. Even the smallest reaction was enough for her to notice and interpret quickly. In this area, she had never been wrong. The way Li Ge avoided her gaze earlier clearly showed nervousness and fear.
“No. She’s scared of me. If I had walked over just now, she might have thought I was an Alpha trying to hit on her. I’d probably end up getting reported and receive a warning for harassment.”
The assistant didn’t think it was that serious. Xu Qingyan was definitely attractive to Omegas. Even though her cold, distant face often made young Omegas cry and earned her the nickname of “strict homeroom teacher turned domineering CEO,” many people secretly admired her photos.
After all, there were not many Omegas who could resist a stunning female Alpha like her.
“President Xu, I think you might be overthinking things,” the assistant offered her honest opinion. “First, I don’t think you realize how attractive you are to Omegas. Second, you would have just gone over to say hello. You didn’t try to touch her or cross any boundaries. If she really called the police over that, our legal team would probably send out a cease and desist before she even finished dialing. And third, most normal people wouldn’t accuse someone of harassment without a real reason, especially not in a place with security cameras. It would be a foolish mistake. Considering all that, I think you’re being too cautious.”
Xu Qingyan took a moment to think, then replied firmly, “Everything you said is reasonable, but you forgot one important thing. When an Omega feels threatened by an Alpha, it doesn’t require physical contact. If touch was the only evidence of harassment, there wouldn’t be specific laws preventing Alphas from releasing pheromones in public to intimidate Omegas.”
The assistant paused, then quickly nodded. “You’re right, President Xu. That was my oversight.”
Xu Qingyan said nothing more. She sat down in the car, and the assistant followed to close the door gently behind her. She was about to start the engine when Xu Qingyan stopped her.
“Wait.”
Looking through the rearview mirror, the assistant saw that Xu Qingyan was still watching Li Ge. It seemed like she wasn’t ready to leave, so the assistant stayed with her in silence.
Seeing her boss like this, staring quietly at someone, the assistant suddenly felt a bit sorry for her. Xu Qingyan always looked strong and untouchable at work. But right now, she seemed like a real person with real emotions, even longing for something.
“President Xu, are you sure you don’t want to go talk to her?”
Xu Qingyan didn’t reply right away. She looked like she was thinking carefully.
The assistant offered another suggestion. “If you’re worried about scaring her, I could go over and ask for her contact information for you.”
That seemed to make Xu Qingyan pause. Her expression shifted slightly, but she was still hesitant.
After a moment, she quietly said, “No. Next time.”
This was something she wanted to do herself. If she had to rely on someone else to make an introduction, the whole thing would lose its meaning.
As the person directly involved, choosing not to approach her in person would feel disrespectful. Xu Qingyan didn’t want to leave Li Ge with a bad impression.
“I understand,” the assistant replied softly, saying nothing more.
The two of them sat quietly in the car, watching the scene outside.
Once Xu Qingyan had gotten into the car, Li Ge finally looked up and glanced toward the back. Realizing Xu Qingyan was no longer there, she looked relieved. Her whole body relaxed, as if she had been under pressure the entire time.
Just then, an Alpha walked out of the nightclub and went straight to Li Ge. He gently touched her young face, his expression full of affection.
Their relationship was clearly close.
From the way he acted, it was obvious they were more than just friends.
Xu Qingyan saw everything from the car.
The assistant, worried she might be upset, was about to suggest they leave when Xu Qingyan turned to her and said, “Let’s go.”
Her voice clearly sounded disappointed. The assistant couldn’t help but ask, “President Xu, if… and I mean if… you’re feeling hurt, it’s okay to talk to me.”
Xu Qingyan didn’t know what it meant to feel hurt. All she knew was that seeing Li Ge with another Alpha made her feel uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. The kind of uncomfortable that made her want to go over and chase the man away.
Is this discomfort?
“No,” Xu Qingyan said calmly.
It was the first time in her life she had ever told herself such a big lie.
