The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 3
On the way back.
Xu Qingyan was absentmindedly scrolling through her phone. She had planned to distract herself with something else, but somehow, she ended up on Weibo.
And, as if fate had arranged it, a post about Li Ge appeared right in front of her.
It was a fan-made collection of Li Ge’s photos.
In the photos, the Omega looked sweet and adorable. She had a bit of baby fat, but her face was small and delicate. Her eyes sparkled with innocence and charm, making her look like a beautiful doll displayed behind glass. There was no flaw to be found.
Especially when she smiled. It was so cute it made people want to keep her all to themselves.
Xu Qingyan gently rubbed her thumb across the photo on the screen. Her face showed no expression, making it hard to tell how she felt. She stared at the image for a while, then began to long-press and save the pictures one by one.
She kept scrolling down. Most of the comments in the section were full of praise for Li Ge.
Of course, there were a few that were clearly there to stir up trouble.
“Oh my god, how can she be this cute! I declare she’s the absolute sweetest little angel in the whole world!”
“Agreed! I declare she is the cutest girl alive, no question! How can an Omega be this adorable? Come here and let mommy kiss you!”
“This sweet little Omega, whose child is she anyway? Oh right, she’s mine! Mine, mine, mine!”
“I could stare at her face all day. Who else understands the joy of watching someone grow up and become perfect?”
Xu Qingyan couldn’t help but smile faintly. Her expression softened noticeably.
But that smile disappeared as soon as she saw the next set of comments.
“Sweetest Omega in the world? Her fans really need to calm down. There are plenty of Omegas in the industry who are cuter than her, and even their fans don’t make such outrageous claims. Gross.”
“Exactly. This fanbase always acts like this. Every time someone mentions ‘cute’ or ‘adorable,’ they jump out immediately like they’re afraid nobody knows who their idol is. They push out 800 trending hashtags a day. Even ghosts would recognize her name by now.”
“They even admitted to planning to buy trending slots. With the number of fans she actually has, do you really think she’s trending on her own? Come on.”
“I agree. And seriously, who knows if that cuteness is real or if it’s all plastic and Photoshop. She might have had cosmetic work done just to fool her brain-dead fans.”
Xu Qingyan’s face immediately darkened. Her brows furrowed tightly. It was obvious she was in a terrible mood.
Her assistant noticed the shift through the mirror and asked, “President Xu, is something wrong?”
Xu Qingyan thought for a moment, then asked, “Xiao Su, do you have an extra Weibo account?”
“Yes, I do… why, President Xu?”
“Let me borrow it. I’ll pay. Ten thousand for thirty minutes.”
What?
The assistant’s eyes widened in shock. She knew President Xu was wealthy and didn’t care about a few thousand yuan, but this was on another level.
Wasn’t this just burning money?
“President Xu, what’s going on? Why do you suddenly want to borrow my Weibo account?” The assistant was completely baffled. In her impression, Xu Qingyan never touched social media. She always thought it was a waste of time. Whenever the group needed to promote something or post official news, the assistant handled everything.
Now she was suddenly asking to log in personally. If she hadn’t been sitting right there, the assistant would have thought someone had possessed her.
Xu Qingyan didn’t explain. She simply transferred ten thousand yuan and held up the confirmation for her assistant to see.
“The money’s been sent. Tell me the account info.”
The assistant’s eyes got even wider. She felt like the money in her hand was too hot to keep. But since it was already sent, not accepting it might make Xu Qingyan unhappy. And it was voluntarily given, so as a working woman, she had no reason to reject it.
“President Xu, may I ask what you’re planning to do on Weibo?”
“To argue.”
“What?”
“They’re talking badly about Li Ge. I won’t allow it.”
So that Omega’s name was Li Ge. It was a nice name.
Still, the assistant hadn’t expected that the reason Xu Qingyan wanted to log into Weibo was to defend her.
The behavior seemed a little childish, but the assistant could understand. After all, Li Ge was the first Omega who had ever caught President Xu’s interest. Naturally, she would be protective.
“President Xu, why are they attacking her?”
Xu Qingyan didn’t understand either. Even though she held some influence in the entertainment industry, she had never paid much attention to its inner workings. She didn’t care about which actor looked good or who was popular. Her only concern was whether her investments would yield good returns.
Today, she only ended up on Weibo because she wanted to distract herself. Seeing all those hateful comments in the post left her completely confused.
“Maybe they’re just too bored in real life,” Xu Qingyan said seriously. “If they were students and I were their teacher, I’d assign them extra homework so their brains would stay active. No time to waste. And if they were employees of my company, I’d make sure they had enough work to keep them busy, especially with overtime. That way, they’d stop wasting their time on nonsense.”
The assistant’s back instantly stiffened. That last part felt like it was directed at her. She silently prayed that none of those haters were actually employees of Xu Group. If they were, they were about to face serious consequences.
“President Xu, as far as I know, Li Dahai’s daughter, Miss Li… she works in the entertainment industry.”
“Yes, she is,” Xu Qingyan said.
“If she’s part of the entertainment industry, then being criticized is very common. President Xu, I don’t think you need to take it too seriously.”
“Criticism is normal in that field?”
The assistant nodded. “Most celebrities have a huge number of fans, and competition between them is fierce. They fight hard over even the smallest resources. That competitive spirit spreads to the fans too. They form support groups and fan clubs and will do anything for their favorite idols. The easiest way to hurt a rival is to spread rumors. It’s low-effort and costs them nothing, but it can destroy someone’s reputation.”
“President Xu, you really don’t need to use a second account to argue with them. Ignoring it is often the best option. If you truly want to help Miss Li, it might be better not to engage with those angry fans. You may mean well, but it could have the opposite effect.”
Xu Qingyan’s hand paused as she was about to log in. She looked at her assistant and asked, with a hint of emotion in her voice, “Would I really be causing trouble for her?”
The assistant nodded gently. “If you want to help her, there are better ways. And those ways would be more effective without needing you to step in directly.”
Xu Qingyan hesitated for a moment. She realized her assistant had a good point and became curious. “Then tell me what you suggest.”
Seeing how serious she was, the assistant felt a mix of amusement and sympathy. A powerful businesswoman like Xu Qingyan could easily silence any group of fans, but now she was asking her assistant for advice like she had no idea what to do. Most people would find it funny if they knew.
But it also showed how little Xu Qingyan usually cared about things like this. Her world was business. Deals, numbers, growth, and strategy filled her mind every day. Entertainment gossip was far beneath her usual concerns.
If this had been the old Xu Qingyan, she would never be doing this. That Omega clearly meant something different to her.
The assistant suddenly felt happy for her boss. Maybe she was finally changing. Maybe she would no longer be that cold and distant woman who never smiled. That was something to be grateful for.
“President Xu, this isn’t hard to handle. The problem is, if we’re too obvious about it, the public reaction might actually hurt her more.”
“Why would that happen?”
The assistant patiently explained. “Think about it. Miss Li is the daughter of Li Dahai. If even her own father is ignoring the hate she gets and then those harsh comments suddenly vanish, people are going to talk. They’ll start to wonder if she has a powerful sponsor behind her. Some might even say she’s sleeping her way up or became someone’s mistress. And once that kind of gossip spreads, it’s almost impossible to fix her image. That’s the danger of public opinion.”
Xu Qingyan finally understood. Still, she didn’t want to back off. “Xiao Su, do you have a better idea?”
The assistant had expected this. She knew President Xu would not let this go. And honestly, she didn’t mind helping. But first, she needed to ask something important.
“President Xu, I hope you don’t mind me asking again, but do you really like Miss Li?”
Xu Qingyan wasn’t entirely sure what she felt. But she knew she couldn’t stand seeing Li Ge treated badly. Just like in the nightclub, when she heard those business partners discussing how Li Dahai had basically sold his daughter, she felt deeply uncomfortable.
If that was what liking someone felt like, then yes, she liked her.
“I do. I like her,” Xu Qingyan said clearly.
The assistant hesitated and asked again, more carefully, “But you saw it too, President Xu. Miss Li already seems close to another Alpha. If you keep going like this, you’ll only end up hurting yourself.”
Before she could finish, Xu Qingyan interrupted her.
“Her having an Alpha she likes doesn’t stop me from wanting to do something for her. Those two things are not in conflict.”
That was true.
It was her personal choice. And perhaps, Xu Qingyan already understood things more clearly than her assistant had realized. The assistant’s worries had been unnecessary.
After thinking it through, she nodded with a small smile.
“I understand. Don’t worry, President Xu. Leave it to me.”
