The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 7
Xu Qingyan could not help but move closer to the window. Her forehead nearly touched the glass, and her hands tightened unconsciously against the surface. Even her breathing became uneven.
She looked forward to every chance to see Li Ge. But it seemed that each time they met, the timing and place were never quite right. As a result, every time the Omega saw her, it would trigger a natural sense of fear. All Xu Qingyan could do was watch from a distance, trying not to disturb her.
That had always been her approach.
And she had done it well.
She kept all her feelings carefully hidden. No one ever noticed. Not even Xu Hong.
But after bumping into the Omega repeatedly in recent days, Xu Qingyan felt the emotions she had buried deep inside were becoming harder to contain. That desire was growing stronger by the day. She wanted to see Li Ge, wanted to talk to her, wanted Li Ge’s eyes to focus only on her. She even wanted to make Li Ge hers.
These desperate thoughts were slowly filling every corner of her mind.
Xu Qingyan placed her palm against the glass and gently traced the spot where Li Ge had appeared just moments ago. She kept rubbing the window until Li Ge completely disappeared from view. Only then did she reluctantly lower her hand.
Secretary Su quickly noticed something was off. She glanced out the window in the same direction and was surprised when she recognized the familiar figure.
“So Miss Li works at Shengshi Entertainment. What a coincidence.”
Xu Qingyan responded with a soft hum and a faint smile.
It was subtle. Her expression barely changed.
But her mood was clearly better, and the secretary felt confident enough to ask a bolder question.
“If this really is fate, Director Xu, don’t you have any special thoughts about it?”
Xu Qingyan lowered her eyes, clearly tempted by the idea. If Li Ge worked at Shengshi Entertainment, and she agreed to partner with Wang Fan, then she would have a perfect excuse to visit regularly. She would no longer need to avoid her or watch from a distance. She could stand right in front of her, openly and confidently.
Just as Wang Fan had said, this collaboration might truly be mutually beneficial.
Xu Qingyan did not hesitate anymore. She was about to respond to the secretary when the sound of the door opening interrupted them.
Wang Fan had returned, most likely after handling the earlier issue. When he opened the door and saw Xu Qingyan and her secretary standing at the window, he paused in surprise before speaking.
“Director Xu, the view here is quite nice, isn’t it?”
Xu Qingyan turned around slowly. Her mood was clearly lighter as she replied, “Yes, it is. You have a good eye for location, Mr. Wang.”
Wang Fan felt a moment of confusion. He sensed a shift in her tone. It was very different from earlier. Just moments ago, Xu Qingyan had spoken to him with complete coldness. Now, although she still sounded distant, there was a trace of warmth, something human. Before, she had sounded completely indifferent.
He had no idea what had happened while he was away, or what had caused this sudden change in her attitude. Maybe she had reconsidered. Maybe it was something else entirely. Whatever it was, it worked in his favor, so there was no need to question it too much.
As long as the outcome was good, the reason behind it did not really matter.
After closing the door, Wang Fan walked over and poured a cup of tea for Xu Qingyan. As he handed it to her, he asked carefully, “So, Director Xu, have you thought more about my proposal? I believe this project is a guaranteed success. I’m sure you already understand that. In fact, our projects align quite well. We could share actors, explore spin-off content from the same intellectual property, and benefit from the current high level of audience interest. If we work together, we could generate even greater profits.”
Xu Qingyan gave a simple nod as soon as he finished speaking.
“I agree to this partnership, Mr. Wang.”
Wang Fan was overjoyed. He could hardly believe what he was hearing. To make sure he had not misunderstood, he asked again.
“Director Xu, you really mean it? You’re not joking with me, are you?”
The secretary answered in her place.
“Mr. Wang, have you ever heard of Director Xu going back on her word?”
Xu Qingyan had a reputation for being decisive in business. She was known for doing what she said and being straightforward, even if it made her seem cold. But her consistency and integrity had earned her an excellent reputation in the business world.
Wang Fan had never worked with her directly before and used to think her reputation was exaggerated. But now that he had met her, he could see that the rumors were accurate.
“In that case, it’s settled then?”
Xu Qingyan nodded again.
“I will assign someone from my team to handle the details. Mr. Wang, you can begin preparing your company’s materials. As for funding, you do not need to worry. I will take care of it.”
Wang Fan could not have been happier. With financial support from the Xu Group, he no longer had to worry about the budget. He could finally move forward with confidence.
“Director Xu, to celebrate our new partnership, would you be willing to join me for lunch? My treat.”
“Thank you for the offer, Mr. Wang, but that won’t be necessary. I have a lot of work to take care of at the company, so I’ll head back now.”
Xu Qingyan had only agreed to this project because of Li Ge. In truth, she did not think much of it. More precisely, she did not trust Wang Fan’s way of doing business. Many of his past failures were the result of poor management and careless decision-making.
It was not that the project itself was unprofitable or had no future. The problem lay in the leadership.
Too often, business owners who knew nothing about production refused to listen to professional advice. They overestimated themselves and charged ahead blindly. In the end, the result was always the same. The project failed. The investment was lost. Everything turned into a mess.
Wang Fan was one of those people.
Xu Qingyan knew that clearly. But to get closer to Li Ge, she was willing to make an exception.
Even if it meant paying a price later.
After leaving the office, Xu Qingyan and Secretary Su went straight to the elevator.
She had not asked Wang Fan to escort them. It was not out of disrespect, and it was not that she looked down on him. She simply had a small hope in her heart.
While in the office earlier, she had counted. Li Ge’s office was on the twelfth floor.
She wanted to try her luck.
So when the elevator reached the twelfth floor, Xu Qingyan stepped out, using the excuse that she needed to use the restroom. Secretary Su had already seen through her intention but said nothing. She simply followed quietly.
A group of employees walked by, some of them recognizable as entertainers. The moment they saw Xu Qingyan, they were immediately struck by her appearance. The strong presence of this Alpha, combined with her looks and aura, drew everyone’s attention. They had not even walked past her yet before whispers began to spread along the hallway.
“Did I see that right? She’s a female Alpha!”
“You saw right. She’s definitely a female Alpha.”
“Oh my god, her face, her figure, her presence—she’s exactly what I’ve dreamed of in an Alpha.”
“What level do you think she is? A-level, B-level, or C-level?”
“I’m guessing she might be S-class.”
“No way. S-class Alphas aren’t just walking around like it’s nothing. They’re either from prestigious families, powerful households, or at least born into wealth. There’s no way one of them would be here working as an entertainer.”
“You’ve got a point. If she really were that kind of Alpha, even if she entered the industry, she’d be the company’s top priority. She wouldn’t just be randomly walking around here.”
The gossip continued nonstop, and Xu Qingyan heard every word clearly. But she ignored them and walked quickly toward the restroom.
Secretary Su followed behind her, thinking to herself that if Xu Qingyan ever became an entertainer, the chaos it would cause would be unimaginable. Those little Omegas would probably try to drag her straight through the phone screen and into their homes. She could hardly imagine the scene. It would be chaos, and there probably wouldn’t be enough security to control the crowd.
Most likely, they would fail to hold anyone back.
A tiger going after prey was never something you could stop.
Thinking about it, Secretary Su felt a little regretful. With looks and presence like Xu Qingyan’s, she really belonged on the big screen for the world to admire, not stuck in an office all day where only she got to see her. It felt like such a waste of beauty.
Still, that was just a passing thought. Xu Qingyan was her boss, after all. If she weren’t, who knew where she’d be working now? She certainly wouldn’t have had the opportunity to be the personal secretary to a chairwoman.
When she thought about it that way, she no longer felt any regret.
At that moment, shouting and insults erupted from a nearby room.
It sounded like a manager was yelling at one of their artists. The tone was aggressive and full of hostility, with no attempt to spare the person’s dignity.
Scenes like this were not uncommon in the entertainment industry. Secretary Su had seen worse and didn’t pay much attention.
“Do you think she’ll cry from that?”
“What is there to cry about? It’s her own fault. She knew there was a commercial shoot with GG today, and still didn’t take care of her face. The company already signed a contract with GG. If the shoot can’t happen today, it counts as a breach of contract.”
“That’s true. The penalty fee would be huge. No wonder the manager’s so furious. Honestly, she brought this on herself.”
“Exactly. She has no talent, no acting skills. The only thing she has going for her is her looks. And now she can’t even protect the one asset she relies on. Who’s to blame for that?”
“By the way, do you know how her face got injured? Who would actually hit someone with a face like hers?”
“Who knows? Maybe she did something behind her Alpha’s back and got hit for it.”
“People really aren’t always what they seem.”
Hearing all of this, Secretary Su finally realized who the manager was yelling at inside the room.
And from the sound of it, she knew exactly which artist had just been humiliated.
