The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 8
The door opened again, and Secretary Su immediately spotted Li Ge.
The Omega stood with her head lowered, being scolded. A few strands of hair fell gently along her youthful cheek, framing her ear. From the side, she looked like a character from a romance manga, quiet and beautiful. But that delicate image was ruined by the slight swelling on her face.
A visible palm print remained, clearly showing how hard the slap had been. There was no hesitation behind it, just a direct and cruel strike.
Secretary Su instantly thought of Li Dahai, the man who had shown up the night before trying to sell his own daughter. He had probably grown more and more frustrated after returning home, until he finally lost his temper and blamed everything on her. She had become his punching bag.
What a disgraceful excuse for a father.
Secretary Su started walking slowly toward the room. Inside, the manager continued shouting even after the door closed. Her voice grew louder and uglier until it became outright verbal abuse.
“Li Ge, do you have any idea how much that GG contract is worth? I made bold promises to President Wang, and now look at the mess you’ve caused. How am I supposed to explain this to GG’s team? How do I explain it to President Wang?”
“If you didn’t want the job, you could have said so earlier. There are plenty of artists begging for this kind of opportunity. You, with nothing but a pretty face, should be grateful for the chance to stand in front of the camera. What, you think you’re too good for this now? Have you even looked at your own skills? Do you really think you deserve better?”
“I’ve been managing artists for years. Not a single one of them dares to go against what I say. Even those who have made it into the second and third tier still follow my word. But you? You’re not even a D-list celebrity. You ignore me and cause chaos. Do you even understand what you’ve done? Taking someone like you under my wing must be the worst decision of my life. I have never met anyone as unlucky and troublesome as you.”
Li Ge slowly raised her head. Her eyes were filled with sadness, but she did not let it show. She didn’t cry, argue, or explain herself. Her voice was steady and calm.
“Sister Chen, I will figure out a way to pay the penalty. I’m sorry for the trouble I caused, but I didn’t do it on purpose.”
Chen Xin, the manager, clearly did not believe her. She let out a mocking laugh and sneered.
“You’ll pay the penalty? Really? Do you even know how much this deal is worth? GG was brought in by President Wang himself, and a written guarantee was signed. The only reason this job was offered to you was because you look decent. The penalty for breaking this contract is double. What are you going to pay with? Your body? Or are you planning to offer yourself to GG’s reps?”
“A pretty little Omega like you could probably fetch a good price. If one time isn’t enough, you could sell yourself a second time. Still not enough? Then a third. As long as you’re willing to sell, the debt will eventually be paid. Isn’t that right?”
Li Ge had already been holding back. This situation had never been her fault. She hadn’t even wanted the GG job to begin with. By Chen Xin’s own logic, someone of her standing should never have been offered such a major endorsement. If the opportunity had been good, it would have gone to someone much higher on the ladder.
In reality, this deal was trouble. Everyone knew it. Even struggling artists had turned it down. But the company had already signed the contract and couldn’t back out. With no one else willing to take it, they pushed the responsibility onto her.
“Take back what you just said.”
“What did you say?”
Li Ge looked up sharply, her voice clear and firm.
“I said, take back what you said, and apologize.”
Chen Xin laughed like she had just heard the most ridiculous thing in the world. Her tone was even more condescending.
“You want me to apologize? You? A nobody who isn’t even a D-list artist? You want me, a senior manager, to apologize to you? Are you dreaming? You should ask around about who I am in this company. You think someone like me would ever apologize to someone like you? If I wanted to ruin your reputation, it would be as easy as crushing an ant.”
She stepped forward and narrowed her eyes with a smirk.
“Don’t look at me like that. Do you really think a glare is going to change anything? You ruined President Wang’s GG deal. You should already understand what the consequences are. I haven’t laid a hand on you. You should be thanking me for showing restraint. Don’t push your luck.”
Li Ge gritted her teeth and snapped back.
“You never told me anything about this job. You didn’t consult me or give me a choice. You pushed me into this without any explanation. You set me up.”
“That’s right.”
“What did you just say?”
“I said I set you up. You’re the idiot who trusted a stranger.”
“Say that again.”
Li Ge was trembling with rage. She had heard people say the entertainment industry was ruthless. Her friends had warned her not to trust anyone. But she had believed. She had thought this person genuinely cared about her and had her best interests in mind.
Looking back, Chen Xin had been right about one thing. She really had been naive.
“All of you planned this. You dug a pit and waited for me to fall into it.”
Now that the truth was out, Chen Xin saw no reason to hide it.
“I figured that even if you had no real skills, you were at least good-looking. A pretty vase is still better than an ugly one. I knew the GG job was trouble, but if you just followed my instructions, I would get the credit. President Wang would promote me. But even something this simple, you still managed to mess it up. You ruined everything. You pathetic, worthless brat.”
As if words weren’t enough, Chen Xin grabbed a pen holder from the desk and threw it directly at Li Ge.
Li Ge didn’t react in time. It hit her squarely on the side of the forehead.
Pens scattered all over the floor.
She winced in pain, her face twisting slightly. Her eyes quickly filled with tears from the sting. She looked vulnerable and heartbreaking.
Chen Xin hated that look. The way Li Ge’s eyes filled with tears, her pretty face trembling—it reminded her of the exact kind of girl the senior Alpha executives always favored. In her mind, if it weren’t for Li Ge, those people wouldn’t have made her life difficult.
The more she thought about it, the more furious she became. Chen Xin grabbed a book from the desk and raised it, ready to strike Li Ge again.
Just then, the door burst open.
Startled, Chen Xin quickly dropped the book. She thought it might be one of the company executives.
But the moment she saw who had walked in, her face went pale.
“Who are you? Don’t you have any manners? Can’t you knock before entering a room?”
Li Ge had seen Secretary Su before, at the Xu family villa. So when she saw her suddenly walk through the door, she was clearly surprised. Her eyes quickly scanned the room, but there was no sign of Xu Qingyan.
From what she knew, Secretary Su was always by Xu Qingyan’s side. She was the kind of assistant who never left her boss’s side, not even for a minute. If Secretary Su was here, it could only mean one thing.
Xu Qingyan was in the building.
But why? What reason would someone like Xu Qingyan, chairwoman of the Xu Group, have to come here in person?
Unless she was here for a business meeting with her company.
That had to be it.
Still, something didn’t add up. Li Ge had done her research. Xu Qingyan had already signed a project with another entertainment group, and the launch was scheduled for August. While it was not impossible for a company to run two projects at once, a small production like Shengshi Entertainment’s wouldn’t be worth Xu Qingyan’s time.
In fact, Xu Qingyan had never even shown interest in Shengshi’s projects.
So why the sudden change?
Could it be… because of her?
That idea felt like a stretch, maybe even arrogant, especially considering Xu Qingyan’s background. She was an S-class Alpha with powerful family ties and a commanding reputation. Someone like her could not possibly be interested in an A-level Omega like Li Ge.
Yet Li Ge couldn’t shake the feeling.
Her instincts told her Xu Qingyan had come for her.
Did that mean Li Dahai had already sold her to Xu Qingyan?
Li Ge felt her stomach twist at the thought. She couldn’t accept that possibility, not at all. She wanted to ask Secretary Su about it right away, but with Chen Xin still in the room, she had no choice but to hold back.
“What’s your problem? Who the hell are you?” Chen Xin’s voice exploded through the room like a siren, snapping Li Ge out of her thoughts. She also wanted to know why Secretary Su had walked in without warning.
But Secretary Su didn’t respond to Chen Xin’s question. Instead, she smiled politely and asked, “You’re her manager, aren’t you?”
Already frustrated, Chen Xin had been using Li Ge as her emotional punching bag. Being interrupted only made her more irritable.
“What does it matter who I am? I asked you a question. Who are you, and why the hell did you just barge into someone else’s office? Don’t you know the company rules say you’re supposed to knock before entering?”
Secretary Su glanced at the book in Chen Xin’s hand. She knew exactly what the woman had been about to do. She wasn’t anyone important to Li Ge. In theory, what happened here had nothing to do with her.
But the truth was, her boss had taken a strong interest in this Omega.
If Xu Qingyan ever found out how badly Li Ge was being treated, she would probably tear the entire company apart.
And that would only be the beginning.
The real trouble would come from the old chairman, Xu Hong. If this turned into a public incident, he would definitely interfere with the company’s operations. And if that happened, being a secretary in this organization would suddenly become a much more complicated job.
So, in a way, she was also doing this for herself.
