The Paranoid Female CEO’s Contracted Beauty (Omegaverse) - Chapter 9
“As a manager, especially a senior one, when you want to question someone, please learn to stop spouting filth before you speak. Otherwise, you’ll end up covering others in your mess, and the stink won’t go away.” Secretary Su stepped forward, placing herself protectively in front of Li Ge. “Before you lecture others on manners, try managing your own behavior first. You talk like a savage.”
Chen Xin was so furious at Secretary Su’s words that she clenched her teeth in anger. She looked closely at the woman in front of her and realized that she was quite attractive. Dressed in formal business attire, she exuded a sharp and professional aura. It was clear she was the capable type. But Chen was sure she had never seen her before at the company. If they had even a brief encounter, she would have remembered. The fact that she didn’t meant they had never met at all.
This woman clearly was not from the company.
Then it hit her. The woman had stormed in right as she was reprimanding Li Ge. That couldn’t be a coincidence. She must be connected to that little brat. Chen Xin grew even angrier and sneered, “So, you came to stand up for her?”
Secretary Su didn’t respond to the question. Instead, she calmly asked, “That book in your hand, were you about to throw it at her? Is this how agents at Shengshi Entertainment treat their artists? Do you all just bully them however you like?”
As she spoke, Secretary Su pulled out her phone and started recording. “Go ahead. Continue what you were doing. Someone like you probably can’t afford to buy a trending spot, right? Don’t worry. I’ll be generous this time and make you famous for free. Doesn’t that make you happy?”
“You disgusting woman! What do you think you’re doing?” Chen Xin completely lost it. In a fit of rage, without thinking, she grabbed the book in her hand and hurled it at Secretary Su.
Secretary Su didn’t have time to think. She instinctively dodged to the side, forgetting that Li Ge was standing behind her. Since her view was blocked and her head was lowered in thought, Li Ge didn’t see what was happening. She didn’t even realize something was flying toward her.
Just as Secretary Su shouted for her to get out of the way, Li Ge looked up, but it was already too late. All she could do was close her eyes tightly in fear.
There was a loud thud as the book hit the floor. Li Ge’s heart jumped. For a moment, she thought it had hit her head. But when she took a breath and tried to collect herself, she realized she felt no pain.
Confused, Li Ge slowly opened her eyes, and the moment she did, she froze.
Xu Qingyan was now standing in front of her.
The book hadn’t missed after all. Xu Qingyan had stepped in just in time and taken the hit on her back, shielding Li Ge from harm.
“Chairwoman Xu!” Secretary Su rushed forward, shocked that Chen Xin had actually thrown something. She anxiously asked if Xu Qingyan was all right.
Xu Qingyan shook her head calmly and said it was nothing serious.
But when she turned around, Chen Xin’s entire body went limp with fear.
She might not recognize everyone, but Xu Qingyan’s face was unforgettable. Even if she were turned to ash, Chen Xin would still recognize her. Xu Qingyan was the newly appointed Chairwoman of Xu Group. Despite her young age, she had taken control of the conglomerate with an iron grip. She was decisive, ruthless, and now held sway over most of the entertainment industry. Her influence touched nearly every major project, and her name was enough to make anyone in the industry tremble.
And Chen Xin had just thrown a book at her.
Why was Xu Qingyan even at Shengshi Entertainment? And why would she risk getting hurt over something so trivial?
Could the rumors be true?
There had been talk that Xu Qingyan had been searching for an omega who was truly compatible with her. Was that omega actually Li Ge?
Chen Xin could not accept that possibility. She firmly believed that someone like Xu Qingyan, an S-class alpha, would only choose a partner who was also an S-class. Someone like herself.
How could it possibly be Li Ge, an omega with only an A-class pheromone level?
“Chairwoman Xu, why are you here at our company? It was all a misunderstanding. I swear I didn’t mean to hit you.”
Xu Qingyan gave her a cold, piercing stare. “Do I know you?”
Chen Xin didn’t dare say yes. She quickly shook her head. “Of course not. You’re the chairwoman of Xu Group. I’m just a low-level manager at an entertainment company. It’s perfectly normal that you don’t know me. Besides…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Xu Qingyan interrupted her. “If I don’t know you, why would I care about your promises? How much do you think your vow is worth?”
Chen Xin was utterly humiliated. She had no response. She knew her words meant nothing, had no weight, and held no value at all.
“Chairwoman Xu, I really didn’t do it on purpose,” she pleaded, pointing to Secretary Su. “I was aiming at her. She suddenly barged into my office and interrupted me while I was disciplining my artist. Then she started throwing insults and showing no respect. I was so angry I lost control. I didn’t know you would…”
Xu Qingyan didn’t waste her time responding. She turned to Secretary Su and said, “Xiao Su, go to the office and find President Wang. You know what to do. I don’t need to explain it, do I?”
Secretary Su nodded and immediately went to look for Wang Fan.
Chen Xin’s eyes widened in an instant. She had still been planning to beg for mercy in front of Xu Qingyan, but Xu Qingyan’s attitude was now crystal clear. She was here to support that little brat Li Ge. Even if Chen Xin dropped to her knees and pleaded, Xu Qingyan would not give her the slightest chance.
Realizing this, Chen Xin gritted her teeth, gave Li Ge a hateful glare, and stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
Inside the room, only Xu Qingyan and Li Ge were left.
Li Ge wanted to ask why Xu Qingyan had suddenly shown up at Shengshi Entertainment, and whether it had anything to do with her father, Li Dahai. But she remembered how Xu Qingyan had just taken the hit meant for her, shielding her with her own back, and she decided to hold back.
“Are you alright?” she asked gently.
Xu Qingyan turned around and frowned. “My back hurts.”
The book wasn’t too thick, but it wasn’t thin either. It was about as thick as a coin and had a hard cardboard cover. It had some weight to it, and if thrown with force, even a bruise would be the lightest possible outcome.
Li Ge’s heart immediately softened. After all, Xu Qingyan had saved her. And she didn’t believe someone like Xu Qingyan would lie about this kind of thing.
“Do you want me to take a look?” she asked hesitantly.
Xu Qingyan looked slightly startled, as if she could not believe that those words had just come from an omega. She asked again for confirmation. “You want to check it for me?”
Li Ge also felt awkward. Xu Qingyan was an alpha and she was an omega. Physical boundaries between alphas and omegas were always sensitive. Besides, they were in an office. Even with the door closed, if someone walked in unexpectedly, it could easily lead to a misunderstanding.
She didn’t want rumors like that to reach her own alpha.
“Maybe not,” Li Ge said, flustered. “How about this? I’ll take you to the hospital now. Let the doctor examine you. I’ll pay for the medical bill.”
Xu Qingyan looked a little disappointed. She clearly didn’t want to go to the hospital. Lowering her head slightly, she put on a pitiful expression and said softly, “But it really hurts now.”
“Does it hurt that much?” Li Ge asked.
“Yes,” Xu Qingyan replied with a small nod.
Li Ge wanted to say no, but Xu Qingyan had gotten hurt because of her. If she refused to help, then she would be no better than someone like Chen Xin.
Xu Qingyan could tell she was struggling. She knew it was awkward to ask an omega to examine her injury. But this opportunity might never come again. In the future, she might not even get this close to an omega ever again.
Just this once.
That was what she told herself. Just this one time.
With that, Xu Qingyan turned her back to Li Ge, moved her long hair over one shoulder, and slowly began unbuttoning her shirt.
Soon, an unexpectedly alluring scene appeared before Li Ge’s eyes.
Xu Qingyan’s back was pale, smooth, and flawless. There were no blemishes, no marks. She clearly worked out regularly. Her shoulder blades were beautifully shaped like butterfly wings. Her back looked like a work of art, so beautiful it was hard not to let your mind wander.
Li Ge’s face flushed red. Her ears burned as if they had been soaked in hot water, like ripe apples ready to burst.
She tried to turn away, but as soon as she shifted her feet, Xu Qingyan spoke.
“Is there a bruise? It really hurts.”
Li Ge had no choice but to walk closer.
As she moved in, she saw a large dark bruise on Xu Qingyan’s back. It looked real. Xu Qingyan hadn’t lied.
“Yes, it’s bruised,” Li Ge said quietly.
Xu Qingyan responded, “Can you show me the exact spot?”
“What?” Li Ge asked, caught off guard.
“My assistant is busy handling something. I’ll have to apply the ointment myself later. If I don’t know exactly where it is, I won’t be able to do it properly.”
Li Ge thought that was a reasonable request. Without thinking too much, she gently touched the bruised area with her fingertip.
“It’s right here,” she said softly.
Her heart started pounding faster. She couldn’t help but notice how soft Xu Qingyan’s skin was. As an omega, she was stunned that an alpha’s skin could feel this smooth. She felt ashamed of her own.
While Li Ge was still lost in thought, Xu Qingyan reached back and gently touched the spot, eventually brushing against Li Ge’s fingertips. Just as she expected, the feeling of an omega’s skin was completely different from an alpha’s—soft, delicate, and smooth.
Before Xu Qingyan could take in the sensation any longer, Li Ge quickly pulled her hand away.
“Um… did you ask Secretary Su to handle the situation with Manager Chen?” Li Ge asked, nervously touching the fingers Xu Qingyan had just brushed against. “Are you planning to blacklist her from the entire entertainment industry?”
Even though Chen Xin had gone too far, Li Ge felt that completely destroying someone’s career would be too much. It would ruin her entire life. She didn’t have it in her to support that.
Xu Qingyan slowly buttoned up her shirt. Once she was done, she stepped forward until she was standing directly in front of Li Ge.
Their faces were almost touching.
“You don’t want me to do that?” Xu Qingyan asked softly.
Her warm breath fell gently against Li Ge’s cheeks. Li Ge instinctively stepped back a little.
“I just think Manager Chen doesn’t deserve a punishment that extreme.”
