The Pitiful One Transmigrated into a Wealthy Family's Live-in Alpha (GL) - Chapter 11
Jing Ye was at home, deeply engrossed in a blueprint, when her first instinct upon receiving an unknown call was to hang up. But when she saw that the caller was Secretary Zou, she became much more polite. She knew that Secretary Zou and Jiang Sixian were close, so she was respectful of her. Even though she knew the other party didn’t seem to like her very much, she responded courteously. She figured Secretary Zou must have a reason to call her; otherwise, why would they, who usually stayed out of each other’s way, have anything to say to each other? So she quickly got ready and went over, hoping to leave a better impression.
Secretary Zou arrived about twenty minutes after she did. She didn’t tell her which private room she was in, so Jing Ye just sat in the lobby, playing a little match-three game on her phone. The moment she passed a level, she looked up and saw Secretary Zou walking slowly towards her with a blank expression. The woman was wearing an expensive pantsuit and high heels, but she was still a bit shorter than Jing Ye. Although Jing Ye wasn’t an Alpha, she had a height advantage, standing over 170cm. Even though she was only wearing a t-shirt and jeans, she looked tall, slender, and graceful.
Secretary Zou glanced at her and motioned for her to come and follow her upstairs. Jing Ye frowned slightly but followed her anyway.
“Sorry, something came up at the company that held me up.”
After the two of them entered the private room, Secretary Zou gave a brief explanation, ordered two lunch sets, and then got straight to the point while they waited:
“You and Sixian have been married for so long, but you still don’t have a child. When you got together with her, you must have known that it wouldn’t last forever, right?”
Jing Ye instinctively said “ah,”. She had thought Secretary Zou had called her over to discuss something important and hadn’t expected her to bring up this topic. The original owner and Jiang Sixian had a secret contract. She knew that Jiang Sixian and Zou Xueyun were close, but she didn’t know how close they were. But no matter what, she didn’t think Jiang Sixian would tell her secretary the full details of their “marriage” contract.
Seeing Jing Ye remain silent, Zou Xueyun frowned, not hiding her displeasure. The woman pursed her lips and fixed her sharp gaze on the young girl in front of her, her voice full of annoyance:
“I heard Sixian say that you had a lack of education, so you might not know much about AOs. An Omega like Sixian is a high-level one, not something an ordinary Alpha can handle. Other Omegas marry early for safety during their heat cycle, but she can’t just casually bond with any Alpha, do you understand?”
As soon as she finished speaking, she looked at Jing Ye with a slightly stern face, thinking the girl would be embarrassed and insecure and might not even dare to talk to her anymore. After all, Zou Xueyun had followed Jiang Sixian through thick and thin, opening up new markets, and she believed her presence was not something a girl not even 20 years old could handle. She was prepared for this, but the next moment, she heard Jing Ye reply with indifference:
“Oh, okay.”
Zou Xueyun: “???”
She immediately said angrily, “What’s with your attitude?”
Jing Ye stood up from her seat with a swish, looking down at her:
“I’m a person who doesn’t know much about manners, but I do know the phrase ‘an eye for an eye.’ Whatever your attitude is, Secretary Zou, that’s what my attitude will be.”
Jing Ye had a good temper and a high tolerance, but that didn’t mean she would let people walk all over her. Zou Xueyun was treating her this way, and she wasn’t an idiot or a coward to just put up with someone meddling so much in her personal life. Moreover, as a secretary, wasn’t she a little too interested in her boss’s private life? Even if they were close, she had never heard of a best friend meddling in another’s bedroom affairs.
Zou Xueyun probably didn’t expect Jing Ye, a live-in Alpha, to be so defiant. After being challenged by her, she was speechless for a moment. Jing Ye stood up from her seat, no longer interested in eating, and walked straight out. Zou Xueyun had been in the business world for many years and rarely got into an open conflict with people, at least maintaining a facade of peace.
This was the first time she had been treated this way, and by Jing Ye, a live-in Alpha she looked down on, no less. Feeling angry and unwilling to back down, she also stood up with a bang:
“You think Sixian will end up with you? You’re just sucking up to an Omega for a bit of a good life. Are you even an Alpha? What kind of moocher behavior is this?”
By all accounts, any Alpha would find such humiliation unbearable and would at least say something back. Zou Xueyun secretly held her phone tight, set it to recording mode, and watched as Jing Ye, as expected, stopped at the door. She sneered internally.
But the girl just leaned lazily against the door, winked at her with an unconcerned expression, and even raised her hand to pat her own beautiful, youthful face, looking smug:
“You have to have the ability to mooch. I’m a live-in Alpha, and my wife is happy to support me. What does that have to do with you, Secretary Zou?” She drew out her words, her eyes lightly scanning Zou Xueyun’s face. “Too bad you’re a Beta, or maybe you could have found an Omega who would be willing to marry you?”
In the ABO world, being a live-in Alpha seemed to be an extremely shameful thing. Jing Ye didn’t have that mindset or feeling. These people just kept repeating the same few phrases, which had no effect on her. Seeing Zou Xueyun’s face turn pale with anger, her knuckles clenched, Jing Ye gave her an innocent smile, turned, and walked away, leisurely ordering takeout on her phone on the way.
She had found a way to work on the design blueprint. She would go home tonight and study it some more. She felt she could try to talk to Jiang Sixian about this. She barely took the woman’s words to heart, but one thing she said was the opposite of the truth. She was a live-in Alpha, yes, but she didn’t want to rely on Jiang Sixian for everything. You can’t take people’s money and talk back. She wanted to help out as soon as possible.
While she was happily thinking about this, her phone suddenly vibrated. It was a message from Jiang Sixian. Jing Ye quickly opened it to check.
[Wifey]: I’m back early. There’s a dinner party at the Hualien Grand Hotel, private room 4849.
This was the first time in her life that Jing Ye, who was a lo-fi in her past life, was hearing her “wife” give her an update on her whereabouts, and her heart felt a warm, tender feeling. She quickly put everything else aside and typed a response on her phone. But she soon realized something was wrong.
Wait a minute.
Jiang Sixian was just going out for a business dinner. Why would she suddenly tell her the private room number?
