The Pitiful One Transmigrated into a Wealthy Family's Live-in Alpha (GL) - Chapter 15
Jing Ye was sure that Jiang Sixian had gotten a little muddle-headed from her heat cycle last night. Why else would she suddenly want to take her on a date? Didn’t an ambitious woman with a 120% focus on her career prefer overtime? Or had the inhibitor she used yesterday been a fake and caused a problem?
A date for girls usually meant shopping and watching a movie. It wasn’t that she was against going shopping with a beautiful woman, but the descriptions of the original owner in the plot summary were truly terrifying. This was also why she had become a homebody after her transmigration and didn’t want to go out. Lancheng was a very special city. It wasn’t very big, but its economy and business were exceptionally developed, which meant there was a high probability that the main plot characters would run into each other.
In the early stages, the original owner had used a strategy of casting a wide net to catch many fish. Of course, she hadn’t gone too far at first, at most just hinting at something with a streamer like Mimi, flirting with a playful socialite, or calling an Omega to sing and dance with her. But there were many well-known Omegas in Lancheng whom she had some connection with. This one was a younger sister, that one was an older sister, and then there were a confidante and a close friend. She didn’t know if the original owner had a unique kink, but she especially liked to find people who also liked to seek out excitement. For example, the last Mimi. If she hadn’t stopped her, Mimi would have probably deliberately revealed their intimate information to Jiang Sixian.
Wouldn’t it be incredibly awkward if she ran into them on the street? Mimi was a type that was relatively easy to deal with. But if she ran into someone who was hard to shake off and was caught by Jiang Sixian, she would be in big trouble.
Jing Ye absolutely didn’t want to take that risk. She just wanted to keep her head down and avoid one problem after another. And most importantly, before the date, Jiang Sixian wanted to have a checkup with her. After obediently dropping Jiang Sixian off at work, Jing Ye went home and frantically thought of a solution.
The system had required her to stick to the character’s persona, but it hadn’t said that her every word and action had to be exactly like the original owner. It just meant she couldn’t let the people around her notice a completely illogical change right away. The original owner had at least been outwardly respectful of Jiang Sixian and would sometimes try to please her, but she was just being two-faced. So, her doing something nice for Jiang Sixian wouldn’t seem too fake.
But if an Alpha suddenly became a Beta, that would be very strange, wouldn’t it? She had only heard of Betas differentiating. She had never heard of someone who had differentiated and then gone back.
Jing Ye was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. In her desperation, she considered a wild idea, but she certainly couldn’t do something as stupid as bribing a doctor. A person who could be bought with money could also sell her out again. She couldn’t risk it.
After thinking it over, Jing Ye finally resigned herself and called Chen Yue. The original owner had a lot of fair-weather friends, but not many she was genuinely close with. The two most reliable ones were Chen Yue and Lin Xiudi. Lin Xiudi was a young man who had just come of age. Chen Yue was older than her and more stable. The main reason was that in the original plot, after the original owner fell on hard times, these two were the only ones who didn’t kick her while she was down. Lin Xiudi had helped the original owner, but the money he gave her was all squandered, and she even deceived him. That’s when they cut ties. Chen Yue wasn’t a very upstanding person, but she wasn’t bad, just someone who liked to have fun but had her own bottom line. The original owner had hinted several times about wanting to go after Jiang Sixian, and Chen Yue had tried to talk her out of it a few times before giving up.
As soon as the phone connected, Chen Yue’s cheerful voice came through:
“What’s up today? Are you tired of your ‘great studies’ at home and want to go out and have some fun? How about we don’t call Xichen this time and we go go-karting instead?”
Jing Ye was silent for a moment. After gathering her thoughts, she slowly said:
“Sister Yue, what would you do if your partner lied and told you they were an Omega, but they were actually a Beta?”
A surprised voice came from the other end of the line:
“Lied to me? My partner? I’d dump them and find a more obedient one. And how could you not even know their gender? Are you trying to be a saint and do that whole platonic thing?”
Chen Yue paused for a moment, then joked with a hint of schadenfreude:
“Hey, why are you suddenly asking me this? Did a Beta trick you? Or did an Alpha trick you? Does your Jiang Sixian know?”
Jing Ye panicked at the mention of this and quickly explained:
“You, you can’t just accuse me of that out of nowhere. I only have my Sister Sixian as an Omega! I just ran into something recently and I’m asking for a friend!”
A short laugh came from the phone. But since Jing Ye didn’t want to talk, Chen Yue was tactful and didn’t press further. After she stopped laughing, she became a little more serious: “So what do you want to ask?”
After all the twists and turns, they finally got to the point. Jing Ye cleared her throat and methodically told her the story she had prepared. She made up a story about a family member of Jiang Sixian’s, so Chen Yue wouldn’t be interested enough to investigate and wouldn’t easily expose her.
“So, this person is a Beta pretending to be an Alpha and wants to pursue an Omega, but is afraid of being exposed?”
Chen Yue didn’t quite understand. Because of the need for pheromones, Betas usually ended up with other Betas. Why would a Beta want to pursue an Omega? But since it was a friend of her friend, she couldn’t ask too many questions. She frowned and thought for a moment. Just when Jing Ye was nervously waiting for an answer and was about to think the call had been disconnected, Chen Yue finally spoke.
“It’s not impossible to fake your gender. You need a concentrated liquid of Alpha pheromones, but this stuff is hard to come by and operates in a grey area. If you really want it, I might be able to get a bottle or two for you…”
Grey area?
Wouldn’t that be illegal?
Jing Ye didn’t think of herself as particularly modern, but she was at least a good, law-abiding citizen. She certainly wouldn’t dare to do something that broke the law. If she got a criminal record as soon as she entered this world or dragged Chen Yue into it, it wouldn’t be worth it. Her face showed her difficulty: “Is there no other way?”
“For a single gender test, using a concentrated pheromone liquid is not a crime if the amount is under 3. At most, you’ll be criticized, but there won’t be any major problems. But you can’t use this trick all the time. It’s only a temporary fix.”
Jing Ye’s head throbbed. She didn’t know why Jiang Sixian was so insistent on a checkup, but since she was living under her roof, she wasn’t in a position to question her motives. For now, it seemed like this was her only option.
After the checkup that evening, the two didn’t get a chance to go on their date, as Jiang Sixian was called away by a phone call from her grandfather. When she received the call, Jing Ye noticed that Jiang Sixian’s expression was off for a second. She couldn’t hear what was being said through the Bluetooth headset, but the strong, dominant woman, who was usually in charge, just said “mm” twice and seemed to have been given her orders, unable to argue.
The one in charge of the Jiang family was still the grandfather. The old man was in good health and would probably last for several more years, so he could comfortably watch his descendants fight each other.
“We might have to stay there overnight. Don’t be nervous. Just deflect any questions they ask, and you can stay with me at night.”
Jiang Sixian instructed her as she started the car. But the deep displeasure in her beautiful eyes was unmistakable, and it was a cause for concern. Jing Ye didn’t have feelings for her, but seeing Jiang Sixian like this, she was instinctively worried and asked softly:
“What about you?”
Unexpectedly, Jiang Sixian, who was usually polite to her, didn’t answer. She just pressed her lips together and stepped on the gas. The SUV slowly started in the city center and drove toward the beltway. This was Jing Ye’s first time inside the Jiang family home. The decor was exquisite but not ostentatious, and the clean, tidy style was very comfortable to look at. But before she could find a suitable place to sit, Jiang Sixian was called away, leaving Jing Ye alone and bewildered.
The Jiang family mansion was a multi-story garden manor, and it was quite large. She didn’t know where to go, and she was afraid of messing something up, so she just waited for Jiang Sixian. But it wasn’t long before someone tapped her on the shoulder from behind. Jing Ye turned around, instinctively on guard.
It was Jiang Qixin. The man had a handsome face that looked somewhat similar to Jiang Sixian’s. When he saw Jing Ye, he acted like a doting brother-in-law who had just run into her. After making a few jokes, he got to the point.
“You should take these club cards. Sixian is usually busy and probably won’t have much time to spend with you. It’s good to go out and have some fun and see the world. I’m a straightforward person, so don’t mind me. We Alphas are supposed to enjoy ourselves, or else we’ll be known as moochers and afraid of our wives.”
Jiang Qixin smiled and patted her on the shoulder, acting like a big brother who was doing her a favor. It was very common for the children of wealthy families to go to various clubs, especially Alphas. They were very open and had a variety of tastes. This was a unspoken rule in high society, and as long as they didn’t cause any trouble, Omegas rarely interfered.
But Jing Ye was not from this world and had never been in high society, so she couldn’t understand this chaotic mindset at all. What did Jiang Qixin mean? Was he trying to get her to cheat on Jiang Sixian?
Jing Ye didn’t say anything at first, just stared at the cards. Jiang Qixin couldn’t help but sneer inwardly. Live-in Alphas like this were usually shortsighted and easy to bribe with a little something sweet. And he had already looked into Jing Ye. This girl might seem well-behaved, but she was actually very wild on the inside. She would probably pretend to push back a little, but she would quietly accept them. He had already planted people in those clubs, so he wasn’t worried about the idiot not taking the bait.
“Brother Jiang.”
Sure enough, Jing Ye spoke. Jiang Qixin was a little impatient, but he forced a smile and looked at her. He saw the little live-in Alpha nervously stuff the cards back into his hand and say in a low voice:
“Such good things, you should save them for your future wife. And since you’ve been so kind to me, Brother, I should give you a reminder.”
Jiang Qixin became even more impatient, suppressing his anger as he asked: “What?”
“Xinhuo is a big business with a lot of momentum right now, but you should still restrain your spending. There have been cases where businesses like that have collapsed unexpectedly.” Jing Ye looked at him with great sincerity. “I’m a straightforward person, but I’m truly looking out for you, Brother. I hope you don’t mind.”
