The Pitiful One Transmigrated into a Wealthy Family's Live-in Alpha (GL) - Chapter 5
Jing Ye’s mind exploded. She instinctively adjusted the phone’s angle, pointing the back of it towards Jiang Sixian, and quickly deleted the explicit photo from the chat history.
The original owner was a party girl, but the system hadn’t specified the extent of her activities, only that she hadn’t produced any children yet. While there were no unforgivable mistakes, there was a heap of smaller ones.
Because the original owner had gotten married and moved into the Jiang family right after she became an adult, she couldn’t continue her university education. Feeling that she was being wronged, Jiang Sixian gave her a generous monthly allowance, which was more than enough to fund her wild lifestyle.
The original owner was a vain and selfish person. Instead of being grateful for Jiang Sixian’s kindness, she was greedy for what she didn’t have, using her nominal wife’s money to flirt with other women.
Jing Ye, worried that the person might call, first muted her messages. Then, she put her phone down and brought Jiang Sixian into the office. She helped her lie down on the sofa, covered her with a blanket, and then went to pour her some tea to calm her down.
In the ABO world, an Omega’s body was relatively the most fragile, but due to their powerful fertility, the state had enacted laws to protect them. However, the laws in this country weren’t that robust. Jing Ye had secretly looked it up last night. Forcibly marking an Omega was similar to a rape charge in her old world. As long as there was no permanent disability or the circumstances weren’t too severe, most cases only resulted in a few decades of imprisonment, never the death penalty. As for harassment, that was even less certain, ranging from a reprimand to, at most, a few years. Therefore, every Omega lived under immense pressure.
Jing Ye could deeply relate to this feeling. In her world, girls also had it tough, and most had been harassed at some point. As an Omega, Jiang Sixian was naturally sensitive to Alpha pheromones. Jing Ye had seen her face go pale, so she must have been feeling terrible, just trying to tough it out.
A cup of hot tea was quickly brought and placed in Jiang Sixian’s hand.
Jing Ye’s guess was correct. As an S-class Omega, Jiang Sixian did have a strong aversion to most Alpha pheromones. This “condition” had been with her since she differentiated. Many Alphas had tried to pursue her. Some gave up once they realized their pheromones were incompatible, but others had insisted on trying. When they were met with Jiang Sixian’s strong, instinctive resistance, they would become angry and humiliate her, saying that an Omega who was so picky wouldn’t be able to bond with an Alpha and would never have the chance to be a mother.
The original owner hadn’t known any of this. Jiang Sixian had only intended to have a contract marriage and saw no need to get into such details. Now, lying on the sofa looking utterly exhausted, watching Jing Ye busily taking care of her, Jiang Sixian felt a rare sense of discomfort.
The warm tea soothed her, easing the headache and unease caused by the pheromones. Jiang Sixian let out a long sigh and finally had the presence of mind to speak to Jing Ye.
“A-Jing.”
“Yes!”
The little wolf cub who had been so audacious in front of those old foxes just moments ago had perfectly reined in her claws. Her expression was obedient and sweet, her smile light and natural. Jing Ye was in the process of finding a small blanket to cover her. Hearing her name, she responded sweetly and immediately turned back.
Jing Ye jogged over to Jiang Sixian and crouched down to meet the woman lying on the sofa at eye level. Jiang Sixian reached out. Her fingers were slender. Her cool, soft hand pressed onto Jing Ye’s, a gentle touch like smooth satin.
The woman’s long eyelashes fluttered down. The play of light and shadow created a subtle shade beneath her eyes, making her already exquisite features even more striking and beautiful.
Just as Jing Ye felt her nervousness grow and was about to discreetly look away, Jiang Sixian suddenly raised a hand and hooked her chin.
The Omega’s skin felt wonderful—smooth and soft. As she moved closer, Jiang Sixian’s breath was like a gentle, fine brush, lightly caressing the side of Jing Ye’s face and neck.
Jing Ye, who had never been treated this way before, froze. Just as she instinctively wanted to pull away, she heard Jiang Sixian’s voice again, soft and low:
“Do you think I’m too weak?”
“How could that be!”
Thinking of the old foxes from earlier, Jing Ye immediately became indignant.
Gender equality in the ABO world wasn’t something that could be achieved overnight. Although it was widely advocated, there were innate, unchangeable differences between Alphas and Omegas. Jiang Sixian’s situation at the company was tough, yet she had never said a single harsh word to the unhelpful original owner at home. She still provided for her as per their agreement and silently shouldered all the responsibilities alone. This was something many Alphas couldn’t even do.
“Alphas, Omegas, and Betas shouldn’t be confined by pheromones. An Omega’s role isn’t just about having children. If it were, Sister, you wouldn’t have managed your company so well. Sister, you are already more capable than many Alphas. While they might be tactless, you can’t just kick them all out. After all, you have a company to run, and maintaining basic relationships is a very important part of it.”
Jiang Sixian had only asked the question casually and didn’t believe she had done anything wrong, but hearing Jing Ye’s well-reasoned analysis, her eyelids fluttered slightly. She looked up, her gaze half-smiling, half-probing at the young woman in front of her.
“But that’s not what you used to say.”
Jing Ye was speechless. She had no idea what the original owner had said before, but judging by Jiang Sixian’s slightly colder expression, it couldn’t have been anything good. Sure enough, in the next moment, the Omega lazily propped herself up on the sofa, her voice light and airy:
“Do you need me to remind you?”
It was obvious that the original owner had “Alpha chauvinist” tendencies, believing that Alphas were superior to Omegas and Betas. Once, after Jiang Sixian had been wronged at a family gathering and had no one to vent to, she mentioned it to the original owner. The original owner was in the middle of a tense video game and, annoyed at being interrupted, said without thinking:
“The elders’ teachings must have a point. And Omegas are meant to be in the home, right? Just bear with it for now!”
When Jiang Sixian repeated that line in a half-joking manner, Jing Ye felt both disgust and guilt. Unable to come up with a satisfactory response, she recalled the descriptions of the original owner in the book. She simply bent down, squeezed into the empty space next to Jiang Sixian, and began to massage her shoulders while whining coquettishly:
“I don’t remember saying such mean things to Sister~”
She had never acted this way before, especially not with a beautiful woman. While this beautiful woman might throw her into an icy river in the future, for now, she was being very gentle. Jing Ye’s face grew warm. She desperately tried to recall how female leads in movies and TV shows would act cute, but before she could come up with anything, a “ding” sounded, and a somewhat familiar figure entered the room.
“Jing! Ye!”
Secretary Zou’s voice was sharp as she entered the door, shouting Jing Ye’s name. Her glaring eyes startled Jing Ye.
Seeing Secretary Zou trembling and pointing at her, Jing Ye quickly stood up, belatedly realizing how inappropriate her and Jiang Sixian’s positions were.
Jiang Sixian was lying on her side on the sofa. To give her a shoulder massage, Jing Ye had one leg tucked into the empty space in front and the other long leg draped over the side of the sofa. The overall image made it look like she was on top of the Omega. Combined with Jiang Sixian’s slightly disheveled hair and askew collar, the atmosphere was incredibly ambiguous.
Jing Ye’s face flushed. Just as she was about to explain, Secretary Zou strode over, stood in front of Jiang Sixian, and blocked her from Jing Ye, her eyes burning with fury.
Secretary Zou was a Beta and had been good friends with Jiang Sixian since high school. After moving to Lancheng, she was hired. Although she was a secretary, the two were close friends, and Jiang Sixian never put on airs with her.
Secretary Zou had always disliked the original owner, finding her attitude toward Jiang Sixian perfunctory and lazy, believing she harbored sinister intentions. She was one of the few people who had seen it coming. However, in the original plot, Jiang Sixian hadn’t listened to her, and after Jiang Sixian became pregnant, Secretary Zou resigned and left Lancheng.
Regardless, this was a private matter between the two of them, and Secretary Zou’s abrupt entry was a bit rude.
Jing Ye opened her mouth to explain, but then she suddenly remembered something and quickly said:
“Wife, since Secretary Zou is here, why don’t I go home? I won’t disturb your work.”
After getting Jiang Sixian’s permission, Jing Ye pushed open the door with a sense of relief. Secretary Zou glared at her retreating back, her gaze sharp.
“It’s fine. I’m not angry, why are you so worked up?”
After Jing Ye left, Jiang Sixian slowly sat up from the sofa. Her tone was nonchalant and full of indulgence. “She’s still young and a bit of a rascal. She just couldn’t sit still.”
“Sixian…”
Secretary Zou wanted to say something but held back. Seeing Jiang Sixian unhurriedly sit down and begin to work, she deflated like a popped balloon, and silently pulled the door shut behind her.
Jiang Sixian’s slender fingers rapidly tapped on the keyboard. When she saw Secretary Zou disappear from her peripheral vision, she quickly opened a new chat window.
[Did you see which way Jing Ye went?]
The person on the other end was clearly accustomed to Jiang Sixian’s inquiries and quickly replied:
[She refused to be driven, said she wanted to wander around. She didn’t go home; she headed towards Xicheng District.]
As I thought.
A leopard can’t change its spots. The little wolf cub had put on such a flawless act in front of her that she almost got confused, but as soon as she was gone, she showed her true colors.
Recalling the seamless performance that person had just put on, Jiang Sixian sneered, pressing down on the mouse with more force. Her gaze wandered, falling on the now-cool tea Jing Ye had brought her. She let out a long, heavy breath.
Since Jing Ye loved to act so much, she would play along.
After all, the most pressing matter now was to have this person mark her, and then keep the child and get rid of the Alpha. She was confident she could do it without leaving any trace.
But this typically impulsive person had now refused her twice. Could it be…
that she had gotten into some trouble from her reckless behavior?
